prideinlondon.org/news/2019/3/31/a-pride-without-hate

'Susie Green, CEO of Mermaids said: To back out of Pride in London when they are showing that they are addressing these issues only bows to hate. Mermaids is working with our partners and Pride in London. We will only take part if we are satisfied that concerns have been addressed and that security and safety, especially of vulnerable people, particularly children, is paramount. Pride in London have apologised for the mistakes made last year, and the distress caused. They are committed to standing up to intimidation and oppression. So are Mermaids, alongside our partners Stonewall, UK Black Pride and We Level Up”. '

The devastation wreaked by those 8 lesbians! Central London is still a wasteland...

Why does SG get to dictate conditions in this way?

Popchyk · 05/04/2019 13:00

Well you were the OP, so how can your opening post be off track?

You are the track surely.

It's a puzzle.

FerdinandAndHisMassiveBalls · 05/04/2019 13:10

I don't want to overstep if it is not my place to do so, not being LGBTSHKSUUXYZ!!!!!!1!!

But I do think it would be wonderful if this time you all tried to support Mermaids and other LGBT activists instead of fighting them.

So, for example, someone could have a poster of the tweet from Susie green saying we need to remove the sterilisation clause for children.

And another person could have a poster explaining the importance of the cotton ceiling.

One could have our favourite doctors explaining why a child bride is fine in some countries.

Maybe a quote from Mr Tatchell about the child prostitution being a good learning experience for the child.

Who was it that said 2 year old girls who take their bows out might be trans? I think that's also really important. Someone needs a poster of that.

Maybe some posters of the degenderettes. They deserve our support.

Danielle Muscato is a truly magnificent leader of our time. Someone needs to get that "Suck my dick this International Women's Day" quote on a placard.

I think we need to help the world to understand Mermaids and TRAs. Don't fight them. Help them

FerdinandAndHisMassiveBalls · 05/04/2019 13:13

Something form Munroe about hairy barren lesbians woudl be nice.

Oh and India telling women's hour that she doesn't want to be served by some unhygenic hair legged waitress.

Oh and maybe some quotes from children who have been transed and how they knew because they were a girl with a train set who then liked girls.

Ferdinand GrinGrinGrin

You had me worried for the first couple of lines.

Nightwitch · 05/04/2019 13:30

lauramipsum, of course Bisexuals are a real thing but they're not LESBIANs.
Bisexuals can be attracted to both sexes, lesbians are females exclusively attracted to other people of the same sex. Female homosexuals. Except, according to stonewall, they're actually attracted to gender, which means male bodied people can also be lesbians. Which is bollocks.
I was just saying that lots of mixed sex couples walking around declaring themselves lesbians would maybe highlight how ridiculous this is.
He also likes cats. 😋

FerdinandAndHisMassiveBalls · 05/04/2019 13:31

I have no idea what you are talking about Empress.

I am the very definition of sincerity Hmm

Grin
FerdinandAndHisMassiveBalls · 05/04/2019 13:34

All we need is for everyone to actually understand what it is they're supporting. And I can't see how they'd kick anyone out for repeating the shit that woman actually says.

Melroses · 05/04/2019 13:39

Maybe you could wear the stonewall T shirt and underline 'people' with dayglo tape to highlight the fact that you really understand?

LangCleg · 05/04/2019 14:59

Morning, folks. Just popping in with a reminder to post by our talk guidelines. Discussing these sorts of issues is of course fine, but please do keep posts civil. We've deleted a few posts here that didn't feel completely in the spirit of polite debate and we'd really like to get the thread back on track now. Thank you.

How can the thread get back on track if you delete all the topical posts, Hebe?

The OP is perfectly clear: the thread is about Mermaids and whether or not it has an undue influence on Pride to the detriment of lesbians.

Ereshkigal · 05/04/2019 23:46

I agree with Ferdinand, that's the way to do it.

RuffleCrow · 05/04/2019 23:58

A Pride With No Homosexuals more like Sad

Mumfun · 06/04/2019 00:01

In stead of LedbyDonkeys we need a LedbyMermaids Campaign

theOtherPamAyres · 06/04/2019 12:54

A Pride With No Homosexuals more like

Since about 2017, gay men and lesbians have been talking about being pushed out of their own movement, by 'fringe' groups from the fetish and kink wing of LGBT. Writing in Gay Star News in 2017, (under the headline 'How do you feel about fetish puppies taking part in Pride?') Paul Muldoon wrote:

It trivializes my sexuality to a sex act, when being gay is actually about who we love

He said that it shouldn't be about being a twink or a daddy, a bear, an otter or a cub; a sub or a dom

Instead, Pride should be about ... demonstrating that we are your sons and daughters, your brothers and sisters, parents, grandparents: We are part of this world and we’re not going away.

Last year, Leeds Fetishmen appeared in their gimp costumes, on leashes at Leeds pride. At Manchester Pride, furries and babies abounded while the DJ-host thought that lesbian protesters should be "dragged off by their saggy tits".

Some pride events in smaller towns are lovely, but the ones that give room to The Fringe Letters of the LGBTQWERTYI+++ are getting more sleazy every year.

RuffleCrow · 06/04/2019 13:09

So true pam. Let the fetish freaks get their own parade and see how accepting society is of them when they're not using LGB people as cover.

whomovedmyprosecco · 06/04/2019 13:35

"It trivializes my sexuality to a sex act, when being gay is actually about who we love"

That is such an important statement. Gutted to see pride and the LGB movement hijacked by all-comers.

Needmoresleep · 06/04/2019 13:38

Why cant we all be furries for the day?

I am a very boring middle aged hetero woman with two children. I really like the idea of dressing as a hamster and marching. As long as it does not rain and there are others with me. The reaction of my student aged children alone would be worth the lols. They surely cant evict hamsters.

Popchyk · 06/04/2019 13:39

Gutted to see pride and the LGB movement hijacked by all-comers.

I am immature enough to guffaw at that.

Funny cos it's true.

whomovedmyprosecco · 06/04/2019 13:54

Twas intentional popchyk Grin

Popchyk · 06/04/2019 13:55

Totally deserves to be a slogan on a T-shirt.

At the very least.

JazzyBBG · 06/04/2019 13:59

In everything we do we are working to ensure the Trans community are front and centre.

No shit.

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 06/04/2019 14:16

I think Ferdinand has it. Let's all take this pride as an opportunity to give a voice to the voiceless. For example, a placard with "welcome to your erasure" on it, as many will not have heard this important statement before.

FerdinandAndHisMassiveBalls · 06/04/2019 14:34

I do genuinely think it would be a really good idea. And if they still kick off it will make a very interesting article.

How lesbians were removed from Pride for repeating TRAs.

They can't kick you out for being sarcastic right?

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 06/04/2019 14:44

We must maintain a Pride that works for the full spectrum of the LGBT+ community

Admirable aim, but utterly impossible in a climate where sexuality is a real thing. Like, this is part of the issue in lumping T in with LGB. If you are to accept TRA ideology, then being gay at all is bigoted.

Also, not very welcoming for the hjuge majority of lesbians who define their sexuality as 'female homosexual' and are attracted to people of the same sex, rather than others who dress similar to them or whatever Hmm

Skyzalimit · 06/04/2019 19:44

I'm a lesbian. I support the inclusion of trans people. I support #LwithTheT. I don't feel erased. All the lesbians I know feel the same. We think trans-excluding lesbians are giving us a bad name. Just so you know, they're a tiny minority in the lesbian community.

And if you're not LGBorT you don't really have the experience or understanding you need to comment on this issue.

RuffleCrow · 06/04/2019 19:51

Skyza - as a fellow LGB person - what is it that you feel being transgendered has in common with homosexuality or bisexuality?
