Apparently telling women to 'die in a grease fire' is hate speech. Who knew?

Have a great weekend everyone!!

I'm hoping a cycling enthusiast will drop a hint with more details about the Manchester dates. I fancy a trip. Though I am sceptical whether Rachel will come here to compete. If Rachel thinks there may be a less than warm welcome Rachel will drop out. I would love to see a totally silent audience turn their backs.

The kid in the empirors new clothes.

But look - he’s naked!!!!

Oblomov19 · 02/04/2019 07:54

About time!

Oblomov19 · 02/04/2019 08:04

"But transgender athletes are due to face tighter restrictions by the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, as the maximum level of testosterone allowed will be halved."
Good. Progress, at least.

"The researchers said that there is no evidence that transgender women have a sporting advantage over athletes born female."

Seriously? Hmm

Quotes from www.cyclingweekly.com

Ereshkigal · 02/04/2019 08:08

What "research" is that?

GassyAss · 02/04/2019 08:19

Info on the track masters here www.cyclingmasters.com/site/

I can’t imagine tickets are that expensive nor will there be much demand.

DodoPatrol · 02/04/2019 08:53

Oh lord, that's near my dad. Shall I get him to go? He likes to watch a bit of cycling.

Unfortunately he's also nearly 90, xenophobic (except for people he knows), homophobic (except for people he knows), blunt-speaking, and as loud as only a fairly deaf chap can be.

Prepare for loud declarations of 'Ehhhhh, that one's a fella! What's he think he looks like, racing with the girls?'

Rumbletum2 · 02/04/2019 09:05

It’s easy enough to get round a twitter ban but RMK won’t be able to tweet as RMKself which, given RMKs narcissism and self regard won’t go down well. Therefore RMK won’t be able to resist making it clear who RMK is. So keep an eye open and report report report.

FermatsTheorem · 02/04/2019 09:21

Rumble the ban has already been overturned. RMK has already had a complete meltdown on twitter following the overturning, raging at everyone in sight, then posting a photoshopped picture of RMK standing in what I take it is meant to be read as a heroic pose, waving a brick in front of a background of raging flames.

RMK comes across as more than a couple of chips short of the full (greasy) portion. RMK is not someone I would want to be stuck in a lift with.

BoudiccaKate · 02/04/2019 10:02

I'm so angry he only got a couple of hours.

I report his account regularly, is reporting effective?

hipsterfun · 02/04/2019 10:05

How many seconds until your ‘misgendering’ post is reported, Boudicca? One, two, three, four...

HellAndDegenerates · 02/04/2019 10:06

is reporting effective?

Only if you report misgendering or people being mean to friends of the Twitter founders etc.

McKinnon and Riley and other TRAs all have connections within Twitter, they're untouchable on there and they know it, that's why it's becoming their echo chamber.

BoudiccaKate · 02/04/2019 10:08

You're reporting it?

hipsterfun · 02/04/2019 10:11

Yeah, but the more you evade reality, the harder it slaps you in the end.

Their Twitter connections aren’t friends at all; real friends keep it real.

ToeToToe · 02/04/2019 10:12

McK is allowed to threaten women with violence, and incite violence against women on twitter, but we can't correctly identify them as male - or name this as male-pattern violence against women. On Mumsnet.

McK is a threat to women's rights, speech and safety. And is coming to Manchester Hmm

hipsterfun · 02/04/2019 10:13

No, Boudicca, but the great bunch of lads people who keep tabs on us will.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/04/2019 10:22

Boudicca - suggest that if you don't want to get posts deleted, 3 of which earns a suspension, you read and abide by the MN guidelines. They're what allows us to remain open for sane discussion, and they're not too hard to work within. That's why you'll see a lot of pronoun-avoidance.

The latest hot DARVO take from McKinnon's Twitter followers is that gender critical women are just jealous of the spectacular femininity of MTF trans people. Thats why we are so inexplicably nasty to them, apparently.

I don't think any comment is needed.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 02/04/2019 10:43

Grin no, no words needed. As the court records show, many many appearances for dishonesty...

DodoPatrol · 02/04/2019 10:46

They're welcome to the more egregious trappings of femininity.

And it is indeed quite a spectacle.

Ereshkigal · 02/04/2019 10:47

I paraphrased Grin

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 02/04/2019 13:30

McKinnon is a lot more effective for he GC caus than anyn else I can think of.

Surprising the ban happened in the first place, abusing women seems fine? So not surprised it was overturned.

theOtherPamAyres · 02/04/2019 13:32

McKinnon's mission to get to Manchester in October, to defend the Cycling Championship, will be a barometer.

In theory, a lot of t-shirts should be sold and a crowdfunder will be boosted by trans people putting their money where their mouths are. Sponsors in Canada, the USA and UK, who purport to be inclusive and support trans rights, will fall over themselves to make it happen, surely?

I will eagerly watch the Twitter space to see how this pans out.

HellAndDegenerates · 04/04/2019 16:20

someone outside the Manchester venue selling Adult Human Female t-shirts would be good, bound to cause trouble though.

EweSurname · 04/04/2019 17:56

This was a fun read

amp.usatoday.com/amp/995434001

The dispute between Bearden and McKinnon is personal as well as intellectual. They’ve never competed against one another — Bearden is at the highest pro level — but Bearden says she asked McKinnon to leave her cycling team last spring because of their visceral disagreements. McKinnon then formed her own team and members of each cycling club mostly share the orthodoxies of their respective leaders.
