It's the "Knowing it caused distress" bit. To admit that you said it knowing how much it would distress the 'victim,' you have admitted the offence under the 1994 Public Order Act.

Entrapment.

Bluestitch · 26/03/2019 16:13

I really hope Harry is okay, he sounded so upset on twitter, understandably. If he needs legal advice/ support about this harrassment I'd happily donate.

MNSDKHheroines · 26/03/2019 16:15

Jacob Rees Mogg causes me much upset & distress and he's on Twitter.

Bluestitch · 26/03/2019 16:17

James Kirkup is tweeting about it now.

Just got back from a walk, relaxed and chilled. Picked up my tablet, have now spent 10 mins stomping round the room swearing and ranting. What planet are these people on - this is the police not neighbourhood watch. They have a code of conduct that includes impartiality. Why after decades of targeting minorities have they suddenly decided to act as the private militia of transwomen ?

HorsewithnoRhymeOrReason · 26/03/2019 16:28

I'm amazed the Hull Daily Mail has printed the original limerick in its article..

First time I've managed to read it, why the hell are they calling it a limerick?

And as for the 'unnamed complainant' - I bet the last line was what really got him going.

And it will be a him; the longer I watch this madness unfold the more obvious it becomes what this is about - male privilege and entitlement. And hurty, hurty feelz.

Spokk · 26/03/2019 16:45

I believe it identifies as a limerick, or someone imposed that identification on it.

JackyHolyoake · 26/03/2019 17:05

"Why after decades of targeting minorities have they suddenly decided to act as the private militia of transwomen ?"

Why indeed? Maybe they know something we don't know? [And I don't mean scientific evidence here.]

In the interim [until government involves itself] we continue to tell the police to eff off!

Never forget that our police can only function with our consent.

Females are over 50% of that consent in UK. So keep telling them to eff off until they act proportionately and understand the law.

HorsewithnoRhymeOrReason · 26/03/2019 17:16

There was a young woman named cis
She said are you taking the piss?
I'll dye my hair blue
And misgender you
Something something need more time might do a haiku instead.

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 26/03/2019 17:18

I'll gladly donate towards any legal costs too. It is very important that we get some legal precedents set so that the police know if they are allowed to act as enforcers for a political lobby group.

TimeLady · 26/03/2019 17:22

The inspector and his minions should be compelled to read this

naefearty.wordpress.com/2014/07/22/gas-mark-six/

It might counteract some of the garbage they've been fed.

InionEile · 26/03/2019 18:29

If only the police were even half as proactive in tackling the harassment, rape threats and hate speech that women - actual women, not transwomen - face on social media every day. Can you imagine if every single rape threat or use of hate speech (cunt, slut, whore etc) to a female public figure warranted a call from the police to the source of the threat? I think online harassment would be swiftly reduced in prevalence.

But who cares about actual women who make up half of the population? Let's focus on the hurt feelz of male-born women instead.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/03/2019 18:33

Misogyny is not a hate crime.

Ereshkigal · 26/03/2019 18:34

Making violent threats is a crime. Harassment is a crime. They could take action. But they rarely do.

Datun · 26/03/2019 18:41

"There was never any suggestion he shouldn’t engage in politics or debate around the subject in question, he was just asked why he would want to, knowing it would cause distress and upset to others in society."

Distress and upset? I'm fucking distressed and upset.

I'm bloody fucking upset that men who fetishise women is, according to the ideology, the definition of a woman.

I'm distressed and upset that no one is making the slightest fuss that medical intervention in children makes them bloody worse! Makes them less intelligent!

And the foremost clinic in the country know. They bloody well know.

How dare they.

How dare they prioritise the 'distress and upset' of men who want to shut this conversation down, over all the children and the women in the country.

How bloody dare they.

Harry the Owl, I will contribute as much as I possibly can to a crowd fund for you to address this.

Datun · 26/03/2019 18:43

How about Harrop calling Caroline Farrow a vile catholic cunt who deserves vitriol???!!

How about we said that about Paris Lees, India Willoughby or Jane Fae????

Can you imagine?

The police are complicit. Every step of the bloody way.

Datun · 26/03/2019 18:45

Misogyny is not a hate crime.

Nor is saying that men can't change sex. The police will admit that at the drop of a hat.

Bluestitch · 26/03/2019 18:48

What I don't understand is where is the critical thinking? I thought the same when PC Gul spouted his wrong brain stuff with 'I've done a course'. Even if they are receiving training from Mermaids and the like why is it being swallowed whole when it is clearly nonsense.

groundcontroltomontydon · 26/03/2019 18:58

How is this not a breach of the Human Right Act, s 6??

JackyHolyoake · 26/03/2019 19:01

From where I sit, either many of our male police officers are as thick as or they have direct personal experience of cross-dressing / transvestism / autogynephilia. Why else would they believe any of this garbage?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 26/03/2019 19:07

Why else would they believe any of this garbage?

Becuase it's coming from the very top down wards. They are following orders to silence and they are above the law right now.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 26/03/2019 19:11

The police are complicit. Every step of the bloody way

This ^ and it really needs shouting from the rooftops

JackyHolyoake · 26/03/2019 19:12

Hmm! We all know that autogynephilia is more widespread than is recorded ... the thought of a load of wanker coppers in women's underwear or the latex / rubber autogynephile body suits that are on sale doesn't bear thinking about.

RedDogsBeg · 26/03/2019 19:36

Distress and upset? I'm fucking distressed and upset. Me too Datun me too.

Think we should put together a list of all the things said on Twitter, Facebook, in speeches, policy documents, by lobby groups, et al that distress and upset us and send it to Inspector Wilson so he can ask them the "Why would you say that knowing it causes distress to women?"

How many pages of complaints could we produce? I reckon a hell of a lot of trees worth of paper would be needed to print them all out.

How long would it take the dear Inspector to investigate and ring everyone on the list? If he allocated all his duty time to it he would probably retire before it was completed given that new examples appear every minute of every day.
