Just seen Glinner tweet about this. A bit of common sense prevails.

Wow. Finally.

Lymphy · 21/03/2019 16:29

My exact words!

Peyton Rose’s Twitter has now disappeared.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/03/2019 16:31

Bloody hell! I thought that one was going to get away with it!

It was one of the examples of inequity I used with a friend today when talking about recent court cases against women and transwomen for transphobia.

“Police in Edinburgh have charged a 27-year-old woman in connection with a communications offence following a threat being made on social media, which was reported to police on Tuesday March 19. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.” I think they may need to re-write that, though!

Destinysdaughter · 21/03/2019 16:31

Now that’s karma!

Blueblueyellow · 21/03/2019 16:34

Lymphy I was just on Glinners twitter looking at this and about to put up a post! What poster was it that said about mumsnetters pressure checking, on the hour every hour? Grin
This is good news, and shows that these organisations know how far is too far.

Lymphy · 21/03/2019 16:34

Apparently the twitter account has been suspended by peyton themselves, so not suspended by twitter not sure how accurate that is though

Figures from Stonewall suggest that two out of five trans people have been threatened with violence in the last five years.

No mention of figures relating to biological women. Does anyone know what they are?

Lymphy · 21/03/2019 16:37

Blueblueyellow Grin yes! One of the lesser known benefits of maternity leave, I’m always scouting for info.

Whatisthisfuckery · 21/03/2019 16:48

Wow, is this the police actually doing police work and following up on threats of violence? Not happy that they’ve been reported as being a woman though.

TurboTeddy · 21/03/2019 16:52

Figures from Stonewall suggest that two out of five trans people have been threatened with violence in the last five years.

And no mention of the sex of the people threatening trans people with violence.

Whatisthisfuckery · 21/03/2019 16:52

Well, I’m assuming what kind of woman they are, not being able to see the pics. Also poor old Greg Flucker.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/03/2019 17:00

And I thought Peyton had said that they were choosing to no longer appear, not that they had been dropped and charged.

Nice to see women being protected for once.

BixBeiderbecke · 21/03/2019 17:04

Apologies OP, wasn’t meaning to imply Twitter had taken down their account. We all know which side they’re on.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/03/2019 17:05

This is great news.
Maybe the police in the area of the student who posted on the 'transphobic academics' list that she wants to know where the gender critical academics are so she can drop kick them, can take a leaf out of their book.

FatKatt · 21/03/2019 17:06

Has anyone got the original tweet?

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 21/03/2019 17:08

About time too. Let’s hope it’s just the beginning of people being held to account for threats against women.

happydappy2 · 21/03/2019 17:11

Finally-great news-threats of violence against women are all too common on twitter.

nauticant · 21/03/2019 17:13

StephsCaddy · 21/03/2019 17:18

Good.
Threats of violence (the actual real kind) should always been taken seriously.

Lymphy · 21/03/2019 17:31

BixBeiderbecke no apologies needed at all! I mean TWO organisations taking action on violence towards women! That’s pipe dream stuff right there!

OP posts:
LangCleg · 21/03/2019 17:32

The tweet was actual, bona fide, incitement to violence. This would be my personal line on the extent of free speech.

I don't know the equivalent offence in Scotland, but to me, in England & Wales, this should not be charged as Malicious Communication but as Encouraging or assisting a crime (Serious Crime Act).

BixBeiderbecke · 21/03/2019 17:33

Grin Lymphy

Yes let’s not go getting above ourselves!

FairfaxAikman · 21/03/2019 17:34

Bloody hell! I thought that one was going to get away with it!

They may still get away with it - the PF will decide whether or not to prosecute.
