Do you honestly still feel part of the left?

Don't get me wrong - I don't consider myself on the right. But, wow, this gender identity movement has really opened my eyes to the dogmatism and close mindedness of the left. The left has grown almost conspiratorial in it's critique of capitalism and sees the worst in everybody. I've always been critical of extreme identity politics, but I was pretty 'woke' until about a year or so ago.

Hearing your political allies repeating TWAW or else has really made me question what else is a lie. I realise this gender identity movement is not a bizarre blind spot of the left (I keep seeing Glinner tweet 'why are progressives supporting this?!') but reflects a much broader failure of the left itself. I've found myself much more willing to engage with other perspectives and I am much better for it. I can't believe how close minded I used to be.

I don't know what left and right are supposed to mean anymore. I guess I'd consider myself "left" libertarian. Though I support basic income, free speech, environmentalism and generally live and let live.

Just some thoughts. Anyone else?

Another example of the closed minds of the Left. Jordan Peterson was offered a visiting scholarship at Cambridge. It was withdrawn within 48 hours. No explanation given.

Cambridge University Students’ Union welcomed the decision and said that “his work and views are not representative of the student body and as such we do not see his visit as a valuable contribution to the university, but one that works in opposition to the principles of the university”.

Jordan Peterson is complaining about not being given a position at a university?

Jordan Peterson who called for universities' funding to be cut, to force them to stop teaching disciplines he doesn't like, such as "Women's Studies, which is pathological to the core"?

I'm not sure he's the best example of an open mind, or even a champion of actual freedom of speech (as opposed to a champion of freedom of his own speech).

I mean, I'm not impressed by any university offering a post and then rescinding it, but of all people, Peterson is hardly in a position to complain.

How far the trans cult and other elements have moved away from the left is quite clear when you consider that they are nowadays quite happy to call for working class people to be sacked for “misgendering” or other thoughtcrimes. The genuine working class movement has always tried to settle its differences without getting the bosses or the police involved. How can you have solidarity if someone is prepared to snitch on you to the boss?
