And, as she says in the thread:

"Meanwhile a group of people have terrified and harassed my family. Doxed my children, made violent and sexual threats, signed me up to porn accounts, did the same to my husband, threatened to visit here. And tumbleweed..."

It's not just trans people this will turn the general public against, they're turning the gen public against police! Which is the last thing we need right now!

Great point, this could really erode public trust in authorities.

ineedaknittedhat · 20/03/2019 01:10

Dark days indeed when the police are able to harass citizens who patently haven't committed a crime.

I regard the police with contempt now.

Sending strength to all who are fighting this treachery.

StephsCaddy · 20/03/2019 04:44

Interestingly enough when the daily mail first posted the article comments were closed but now they are open. Which suggests they’ve sought legal advice about it and found out that misgendering isn’t a crime.

ShouldBeCookingDinner · 20/03/2019 05:50

Made the papers on the BBC this morning...brief but it was there.

Spokk · 20/03/2019 05:56

I’ve returned to my happy teenage status of disliking the police. Its a shame when you’re taking your little one out with a dictionary jumper and you avoid the police, in case you get arrested for facts.

ShouldBeCookingDinner · 20/03/2019 05:56

They're talking about it more now...the guest is saying we've never been so PC but the presenter says there must be more to the story because it seems so incredible - no, there is no more, it really is that simple and ridiculous!

nettie434 · 20/03/2019 06:16

And mentioned on the early newspaper review on Today (following up Shouldbecookingdinner’s post). Referred to comments by Sara Thornton and Cressida Dick on need to return to ‘core policing’.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 20/03/2019 06:21

Does the FGM legislation specifically mention which organs need to be cut and interfered with?

BelleHathor · 20/03/2019 06:24

On the news bit of GMB, they just had a journalist outside of Surrey police HQ and apparently Susie has decided to withdraw her complaint.

Sarcelle · 20/03/2019 06:28

Just been covered on GMB.

At the end of the report it says that Green has withdrawn the complaint. A waste of police time. Investigate that now!

All that this does is highlight the trans lobbyists as ridiculous. Even people who were sympathetic or neutral are now thoroughly fed up of the madness around this issue.

Meanwhile, all of the upset and abuse gets swept under the carpet.

Katvonmythicbiowoman · 20/03/2019 06:41

Withdrawn her complaint eh?
The glaring sunshine on her bullying much too bright eh?

I want to know how Susie Green has so much influence. I want to know how someone can be questioned for something that isn't a crime.

I was listening to a podcast on Harry the Owls twitter, and he's sueing the police over this insanity. I'm really glad. Caro could join him in that? How dare they do this to her?

ROGD is happening now. Right across the country. Lives are being ruined now. And trans activists have battled and bullied anyone who speaks up with genuine concerns . They are making things worse. Worse for everyone.

Once again, thank you mumsnet for being a place where people can discuss this.

StephsCaddy · 20/03/2019 06:42

Susie green should be charged with wasting police time.

LizzieSiddal · 20/03/2019 06:45

Ha! I knew SG would hate this publicity.

It was ok last October to harass a woman and get arrested for non compliance in their group think. However their charity is now under so much scrutiny, and they realise it looks very very bad for them and the charity. The media will not let this kind of nonsense go anymore. Their is indeed debate.

We have come a very long way over the last 6 months!

LizzieSiddal · 20/03/2019 06:47

*There

WizbetisaNizbet · 20/03/2019 06:48

This once again brings the public attention back to Mermaids and not in a good way. Two people associated with the same charity wasting police time with complaints that were investigated and acted upon and yet they had no foundation, while more serious complaints about harassment and abuse towards Caroline were ignored? If I were a journalist i’d be prodding around, finding out what is going on.

EweSurname · 20/03/2019 06:59

Excellent - the more they try this silencing tactic, the more it will backfire on them, now there’s been public attention to previous attempts.

Welll done for weathering it caro

AyeRobot · 20/03/2019 07:08

But SG can't bring or withdraw a complaint. She reported an "incident" and presumably provided 'evidence'. It's up to the police and then the CPS to move it forward or not.

Whilst I don't agree with many of your views, Caro, I'm shoulder to shoulder with you on this.

Mner2019 · 20/03/2019 07:12

Good news!

truthisarevolutionaryact · 20/03/2019 07:14

GMB led with this in their 7.00 am news report. It's good to see that the media are taking this up big time. #nodebate not looking so successful is it? Funny that.

Carowiththegoodhair · 20/03/2019 07:15

It’s going to be on Victoria Derbyshire. I am inundated by media but have promised a gender critical Sunday paper an exclusive (I’ll be writing an article) for a fee on the proviso I don’t do other media & spoil the story. Think it’s also on the Daily Politics. So it’s getting good coverage at least.

I have been told that Susie Green needs to sign a formal statement in order for the investigating officer not to proceed.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 20/03/2019 07:16

I want to know how Susie Green has so much influence. I want to know how someone can be questioned for something that isn't a crime.

I want to know that too. Something is up here.

Sarcelle · 20/03/2019 07:16

Look forward to reading it. The ridiculousness of all this is frightening.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 20/03/2019 07:17

Carowiththegoodhair

Good news but you should never have had to go through any of this.

jay55 · 20/03/2019 07:18

Well done for weathering the storm Caro, I hope all other lending cases are quickly dropped.

Mermaids should bloody well lose its charitable status for using resources to harass women.

jay55 · 20/03/2019 07:18

*pending not lending
