And, as she says in the thread:

"Meanwhile a group of people have terrified and harassed my family. Doxed my children, made violent and sexual threats, signed me up to porn accounts, did the same to my husband, threatened to visit here. And tumbleweed..."

NicoAndTheNiners has anyone actually reported SG to the relevent authorities?

Carowiththegoodhair · 19/03/2019 21:39

Yes they do reach me. Flowers

Wish they hadn’t framed it as devout Catholic (nutjob). What I believe about gender isn’t a faith but hard evidence-based science.

Needmoresleep · 19/03/2019 21:41

a complaint was made about the tweets on 15th October 2018, so why act now?

Waiting for the review of the Mermaids grant to be completed. Then back to business as usual.

Scatobrain · 19/03/2019 21:44

“Wish they hadn’t framed it as devout Catholic (nutjob). What I believe about gender isn’t a faith but hard evidence-based science.”

That’s newspapers for you. They put an angle on a story. I think that’s an unfortunate angle, this time, but I think it’s better than no story.

AncientLights · 19/03/2019 21:46

But Caro it may be better to go for the religious angle as religion is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010, so it may be more effective in this instance than scientific knowledge. But your lawyer will advise.

zanahoria · 19/03/2019 21:54

religion is protected but science isn't?

XXcstatic · 19/03/2019 21:54

So sorry this is happening, Caro. I would be very happy to contribute to a crowdfunder.

No idea, maybe someone should try. Problem is the fgm laws are very specifically fgm. There's no comparable law about whether it's illegal or not to take a 16yo male abroad to have his penis cut off. Afaik there isn't anyway. Makes you think someone should start a campaign for such a law. Though if it's now illegal in Thailand maybe not an issue? Or do other places offer this service?

RedToothBrush · 19/03/2019 21:57

Errr I think there is some attention with this story...

The more the better. It needs to stop, it's pathetic.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Delurking because of the outrageousness of it all.

This link is to the detailed CPS guidance on social media offences:

www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/social-media-guidelines-prosecuting-cases-involving-communications-sent-social-media

Para 28 is very illuminating.

And after looking at legislation.gov.uk, I can’t see anything that indicates that the maximum sentence for an offence under s127 Communications Act 2003 has been increased to two years.

knitandpearl · 19/03/2019 22:11

@carowiththegoodhair
Susie Green herself refers to her daughter as 'he' and 'boy' when referring to the time pre-transition: ‘I jumped from fear to denial and told Jack it was fine to be a boy who liked girly things but that did not make him a girl. He was my first child and I just thought I had a very effeminate little boy who was gay.'

Jeez thousands of likes from readers to comment s that the police should not be using resources for this

The sunlight shining on the total madness

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 19/03/2019 22:15

I did the home office online fgm e-learning last week and it definetely said if a child was taken abroad for fgm even if legal in that country a crime would have been committed by the person who took the child out the country and they could be prosecuted upon return.

But no laws that would cover cutting off the entire penis? How did the FGM law come about? Other than Thailand, do other countries do this to children? I guess what I’m thinking is, can other children from this country be taken out to have this operation anywhere else? If so we should definitely get it addressed so it becomes a crime.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 19/03/2019 22:18

It seems absurd a parent can do this to a child without having children’s services on the case. Indeed, she is now receiving lottery funding and works with other children. I am amazed this can happen in the UK.

terfsandwich · 19/03/2019 22:26

Haven't read the full thread but I have tears coming out of my eyes at the Daily Mail misgendering Jackie Green and denying their new name as legitimate. Will their front door also be pounded? Will Susie Green complain about this too?

RedToothBrush · 19/03/2019 22:28

Adam Wagner @adamwagner1
Talking to @bbc5live tonight just after 11 about this story. What do peope think? Reasonable use of the Malicious Communications Act to prosecute people for misgendering online?

Nb this is not yet a prosecution as far as I can tell - questioned under caution apparently. This is the relevant law
www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/27/section/1

Lots of publicity...

knitandpearl · 19/03/2019 22:31

the Daily Mail says the daughter's formal name is Jack... Confused

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 19/03/2019 22:31

I had to read that a few times before I got it.

Perhaps formal naming is the polite form of dead naming Grin?

ClingFilmApplications · 19/03/2019 22:34

Woah! - The Daily Mail article now re-edited to include shedloads of photos to show how girly "Jackie" is.

Scatobrain · 19/03/2019 22:36

Jackie won’t live to see a telegram from the monarch.

That’s the serious side of it.

Arkengarthdale · 19/03/2019 22:36

Is it not a typo for formerly?

knitandpearl · 19/03/2019 22:38

it's a typo, as much as 'he' is a typo for 'she', as it changes its meaning. If one is grossly offensive and illegal then surely all typos potentially are?

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 19/03/2019 22:43

How the hell did that story about Caro getting harassed by police turn into a piece all about Jackie and how Jackie would have had reassignment surgery at 5, endless photos included. Does Susie just buy everyone off?? Really, how the fuck did that story become about that awful women and what she did to her child? Wtf.
