And, as she says in the thread:

"Meanwhile a group of people have terrified and harassed my family. Doxed my children, made violent and sexual threats, signed me up to porn accounts, did the same to my husband, threatened to visit here. And tumbleweed..."

but there are general laws that prevent someone encouraging others to commit crimes, including sections 44 and 45 of the Serious Crime Act 2007. Repeated use of offensive or insulting language can also be treated using the offence of harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997

All of which should apply to women as well, no?

Justhadathought · 19/03/2019 19:17

Off topic but this is from the twitter hole (no pun) I just fell down. Men’s vaginas are an upgrade from women’s.

Wow! The woman hatred in this sentence. The infamous " Ick factor" that so many gay men have about women's bodies.....

The vagina here is just seen as a sexual orifice.....something to accommodate a penis. Honestly, this whole business is just hideous.

TirisfalPumpkin · 19/03/2019 19:18

So - a coalition of women complaining to another force about institutional sexism and corruption* in WYP? Am local & would be well up for that, although no idea where to start.

*there may be a better term as I doubt money is changing hands, but they have been blatantly abusing their powers around anything to do with Merhandmaids.

hackmum · 19/03/2019 19:41

TirisfalPumpkin - are you in contact with the Leeds ReSisters? I’m sure they’d be up for it.

AncientLights · 19/03/2019 19:44

In The Telegraph report the police state that a complaint was made about the tweets on 15th October 2018, so why act now?

Tolleshunt · 19/03/2019 19:46

Disgusted with Surrey Police about this.

I note the Fail has covered it, and has a quote from the police stating that Caroline has been invited to a 'voluntary' interview. Hmm

No mention of the threat to arrest if she fails to attend the 'voluntary' interview, of course.

ClingFilmApplications · 19/03/2019 19:48

If anyone's in any doubt how far Caroline's story is spreading, the statistics on one of my own tweets on her thread, now reads:

Times people saw this Tweet on Twitter: 16,505

ChattyLion · 19/03/2019 19:57

Great point Ereshkigal.

In light of what happened in Miranda’s case, I wonder if certain people will now be wishing they had never made a complaint. This story is going to yet again give Mermaids a lot of publicity and scrutiny, and I doubt they want that!

DeRigueurMortis · 19/03/2019 20:11

The Daily Mail have now picked this up.

It's currently the 3rd article on the app.

NicoAndTheNiners · 19/03/2019 20:29

I hope that copper is now shitting their pants at the publicity.

LizzieSiddal · 19/03/2019 20:39

I hope that copper is now shitting their pants at the publicity.

I don’t think it’s the copper’s fault. More their superiors, The CPS and Suzy Green. I hope they’re all shitting their pants.

Spokk · 19/03/2019 20:50

Right, so taking your teenage son abroad to have his body mutilated and parading him, sorry her, on tv is all good and fine, but using the wrong pronouns is a crime. Hmm

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 19/03/2019 20:53

Isn’t do what she did a crime? Taking her child from the uk to do that, regardless of the laws in the other country? I mean, why isn’t she in prison?

NicoAndTheNiners · 19/03/2019 20:54

Well quite.

Taking a girl abroad for FGM is illegal even if the procedure is legal in the country they're travelling to.

OldCrone · 19/03/2019 20:54

I mean, why isn’t she in prison?

Good question. If a mother had taken her daughter abroad for FGM wouldn't she have been arrested on return? Why is this different?

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 19/03/2019 20:56

If a mother had taken her daughter abroad for FGM wouldn't she have been arrested on return? Why is this different?

I am wondering that too. I might try and find out, this cannot be right.

Katvonmythicbiowoman · 19/03/2019 20:56

Caro
Has repeatedly told us about the harassment she has received for her beliefs. Websites set up to reveal personal details. Phone calls in the night. Horrible stuff if I remember correctly.

We've literally witnessed it ourselves on Twitter too.

How DARE the police ignore all that and do this now. HOW DARE THEY.

I'm right behind you Caro. Flowers
Let us know if you need crowd funding.

NicoAndTheNiners · 19/03/2019 20:58

I did the home office online fgm e-learning last week and it definetely said if a child was taken abroad for fgm even if legal in that country a crime would have been committed by the person who took the child out the country and they could be prosecuted upon return.

HellAndDegenerates · 19/03/2019 20:58

Op, do donations to this go fund me eventually reach you?

HellAndDegenerates · 19/03/2019 20:59

Sorry not op, but you get the idea..

TirisfalPumpkin · 19/03/2019 21:21

Hackmum- I am, and good thought.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2019 21:34

That stood out to me too. There is no way it would normally take that long to have a chat with someone surely? It looks worryingly like strings are being pulled somewhere.

Voice0fReason · 19/03/2019 21:37

This is bloody absurd. I cannot believe the police are even entertaining this crap.
