Julia Long asking Munro Bergdorf about child exploitation

Julia Long was asked to leave the venue, after asking MB if it was normal that an 11yr old child dancing in front of adults, has money thrown at them by grown men. This was at Transmission & was deemed an offensive question....video footage on twitter of the incident.....worth a watch, sorry I can’t link to it but hope someone else can.

Um, a huge, huge amount of the LGBT+ community (like the heterosexual community actually) happens outside of clubs where people are having sex, or where adults throw money at children acting out sexualised roles. I grew up in an LGBT household, gay parent, surrounded by gay friends of the family many of whom were very flamboyant, and now have gay friends raising children; their kids live within the community every day. None of them and neither me or my siblings were ever exposed to inappropriate sexual experiences or situations. They're really not an integral part of being an LGBT child. LGBT children have the same right to a protected childhood as any other child.

The whole 'safe space' thing really gets my goat as well - so if someone is asking you a difficult question, they are making you feel 'unsafe'? What utter bollocks.

I see parents make the wrong, least safe and downright cruel choices because they just can’t not be selfish. Children are persistently exploited and all that happens is some hand wringing and sad faces afterwards. We say how did Savile happen? How does it ever happen? Because those who want to harm children seek out positions and roles in society that allows them to do that. Or easy to exploit causes.

God yes. This insidious idea that anything LGB is automatically x-rated is exactly the stupid line that has fed into the gay=pervert idea for decades.

I can't get over the stupidity of anyone in the community championing this kind of thing, it could actually set back all the progress of recent years by decades.

@HebeMumsnet, If we were linking to a video about child grooming and the links had derogatory references to Jimmy Savile or the Rotherham grooming gangs would you uphold complaints about those too?
