Julia Long asking Munro Bergdorf about child exploitation

happydappy2 · 19/02/2019 13:27

Julia Long was asked to leave the venue, after asking MB if it was normal that an 11yr old child dancing in front of adults, has money thrown at them by grown men. This was at Transmission & was deemed an offensive question....video footage on twitter of the incident.....worth a watch, sorry I can’t link to it but hope someone else can.

[Edited by MNHQ to add video link]

Charitable interpretation of this - and I think the true one - is that bergdorf’s narcissism is sufficiently all consuming to cause blindness to the reality of what is going on in these situations.

Monroe’s problems are compounded by the fact that Monroe is clearly not the brightest bulb.

HawayMan · 19/02/2019 18:53

The fact that someone reported a video calling out child abuse because it potentially misgenders someone is shocking.

So misgendering is worse than child abuse? Words fail me.

To whoever reported that video: please get help.

Whatisthisfuckery · 19/02/2019 18:54

Datun thanks for the link.

Wow, MB really couldn’t give a flying fuck could they. My 11 yo son would think this is fucked up, and he’s like 11 too, and yet he knows fucked up when he sees it. Not that I’m going to ask or show him btw.

DpWm · 19/02/2019 18:59

And so it comes to light.
The AWA using coercive policing of language, pronoun usage, to shut down exposure and talk of child sex abuse on this thread.

And we are still expected to deny a connection between trans ideology and paraphilias.

Popchyk · 19/02/2019 19:01

People who encourage the sexualisation of children are paedophiles.

ApplesinmyPocket · 19/02/2019 19:06

"Julia's Adult Woman sweatshirt made them feel unsafe."

What do they mean by 'unsafe'? That their delusion wobbles for an instant because it comes up against something refusing to validate it?

DoctoressPlague · 19/02/2019 19:06

Perhaps it's time to review your policy, MNHQ.
Why not just add a trigger warning in the OP when someone reports misgendering? It's not a crime, and no one is forced to open the link.

LangCleg · 19/02/2019 19:08

Wait, what? Video links are deleted if someone has misgendered in the comments on the video? What?

Datun · 19/02/2019 19:13

That's not a problem, because if the YouTube one is unacceptable, we have been offered the original video.

No links, no comments.

@HebeMumsnet?

THIS. Come on MN.

The thing is, HQ, anyone, anyone in the world can go onto a video that we are linking and leave a disparaging comment.

That can't be the basis on which you disallow the link. Because it means anyone can force you to disallow any link.

Saltovinegar · 19/02/2019 19:21

MB is no doubt a friend of TA who likes to dress as a 15 year old girl and had a tantrum because Topshop wouldn't let them use the women's changing rooms. Interesting that Topshops target demographic is 15 to 24 year old females. Another person trying to normalise paedophilic tendencies.

I hate trigger warnings but if it means we can speak more freely here it might actually be worth it.

Agreed. No-one wants to hurt someone's feelings. So let's make sure they don't click on something they are going to find problematic.

It's quite simple.

happydappy2 · 19/02/2019 19:30

Please everyone share the video to as many people as possible-shine a bright light on it for the world to see.

It is, and I bet it would reduce the mods' workload.

Indeed. Blindingly obvious. This would be coercive control. Like in the video on the side bar.

ToeToToe · 19/02/2019 19:54

I can understand MNHQ moderating language/misgendering on here, but on a link because of the comments? Ridiculous. Nobody has to click on a link.

Really odd decision there.

*Actually, I can't. But never mind.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 19/02/2019 19:58

I see that KiwiFarms now have a thread on Bergdorf.

I have looked at a number of Desmond's videos and photos, interviews, etc.
What I see is a very creative and talented young person who is also unapologetically gender non-conforming.

The problem is his parents enabling him to be associated with the LBGT community (for all of the abovementioned grooming, etc).
I'm not sure if it's bad for him to be involved with the fashion industry?
I can see him growing up to be a real success in fashion design.
Surely there must be some local theater arts programs where he can develop his passion.
