FPFW disinvited from discussing Martina's comments on 5Live

TransposersArePosers · 18/02/2019 11:00

Nicola WIlliams was invited to speak about Martina's comments along with RM. This on the FPFW facebook page

We were then disinvited after Rachel McKinnon publicly refused to participate if we were included. We discussed this decision with editor Philo Holland explaining how this is a frequently used tactic to silencing opposing views. It contravenes BBC editorial guidelines to allow a guest to veto the appearance of another

So the BBC being biased again, what a surprise. And a GC voice being no platformed. Why is it that these individuals are frightened to go up against the common sense facts??

Plus the presenter Stephen Nolan really irked me when he asked twice "Should the BBC sack Martina from being a pundit?".

Stephen Nolan is a BBC employee.

I'd be out on my arse if I openly asked other people to offer opinions on whether a colleague should be sacked. And if I did it in public with hundreds of thousands of people listening, there would be hell to pay.

It is utterly unprofessional.

And I really can't imagine him asking football guests if Gary Lineker should be sacked by the BBC for talking about Brexit or whatever.

But women are fair game, it seems.

BertrandRussell · 18/02/2019 12:23

“McKinnon also said lesbians shoul£ get accustomed to cocks“

When try get over their “genital hangups” of course.....

zanahoria · 18/02/2019 12:26

Radio Five Live?

or Rasio Woke Bloke?

Carowiththegoodhair · 18/02/2019 12:27

This is normal. I’ve been involved in these types of stunts.

If McKinnon refused to appear they cannot simply have Nic because of rules on impartiality. It comes across as one-sided.

nauticant · 18/02/2019 12:31

Biological woman: works harder on those stubborn stains than any other type of woman.

Carowiththegoodhair · 18/02/2019 12:34

Sorry scrub previous comment. Read what happened. I didn’t realise they still had McKinnon on. Outrageous and worth complaining.

I refused to appear on TV with someone recently for reasons of personal safety. Not that they pulled the debate. They just got a different contributor.

Bananasarenottheonlyfruit · 18/02/2019 12:38

Just posted on the other thread, hadn’t seen this one. Was hoping some of you more eloquent people would have some words to help me draft a complaint here, so happy to see this thread.

Did anyone else hear the ‘comedy moment’ halfway through where RMcK misgenders transwomen and calls them ‘he’ before correcting themselves?

Datun · 18/02/2019 12:42

McKinnon also said lesbians shoul£ get accustomed to cocks

And that children should come to McKinnon and McKinnon's glitter family, if their parents refuse to affirm them.

Did anyone else hear the ‘comedy moment’ halfway through where RMcK misgenders transwomen and calls them ‘he’ before correcting themselves?

Is there a meme yet?

GiantKitten · 18/02/2019 12:43

Watching this with great interest. If the BBC did decide that they couldn’t use Martina any more, due to her “transphobia”, I imagine that would get a massive amount of publicity and peak trans millions of people.

McKinnon really deserves to have his astronaut/flat earth comparison come back & bite him on the bum (he pretty much got away with don’t you know who I am? in the original row).

In many ways it’s good for us that he’s getting so much publicity & trampling on common sense. Give him enough rope...

antifa · 18/02/2019 12:43

Any group that boasts (in a thinly veiled way) about approaching 'gangs of lads' on the streets to educate them about the threat from trans people probably deserves to be disinvited... or actually not invited in the first place.

nauticant · 18/02/2019 12:45

You appear to be on the wrong planet thread.

Oxytocindeficient · 18/02/2019 12:46

antifa

Lies.

Apollo440 · 18/02/2019 12:47

Still with the lies antifa. Scary that working class women have opinions and talked to other locals. So DFOD.

littlbrowndog · 18/02/2019 12:47

Haha nauticant
Fucking nailed it

Oxytocindeficient · 18/02/2019 12:48

You were right the first time nauticant

HawayMan · 18/02/2019 12:51

Does anyone remember when Jenni Murray was reminded to be impartial after writing a very balanced gender critical article? This was even though her article was published outside of the BBC... I hope Jenni raises this!

butteryellow · 18/02/2019 12:51

It wasn't thinly veiled antifa - lets not try to make it sound nefarious when it wasn't.

A member from Mosside spoke about how they went out in their community to raise awareness of the plans to change the GRA - and yes, they spoke to gangs of lads on bikes, and all the various other people that were there, because they're part of the community. Or shouldn't women be able to discuss things that affect a community with members of that community? Aren't lads in Mosside allowed to be engaged in politics?

antifa · 18/02/2019 12:51

Still with the lies antifa.

Look up the tweet yourself. It's fairly easy to find.

Datun · 18/02/2019 12:51

Plus the presenter Stephen Nolan really irked me when he asked twice "Should the BBC sack Martina from being a pundit?".

The bloody cheek of it. Who the hell is Stephen Nolan?

antifa · 18/02/2019 12:54

yes, they spoke to gangs of lads on bikes

I can just imagine the innocent way it would be interpreted on here (aka hypocrisy central) if a trans person tweeted about approaching 'gangs of lads' to warn them about transphobes.

LangCleg · 18/02/2019 12:55

Any group that boasts (in a thinly veiled way) about approaching 'gangs of lads' on the streets to educate them about the threat from trans people inform them about a public consultation affecting women's rights and encourage them to fill it in.

There. Fixed your classist offensiveness for you, Antifa. How dare you assume that gangs of lads would have no interest in women's rights and were just hanging about on their bikes waiting to be told who to beat up next.

Classist oaf.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 18/02/2019 12:56

the TRAs are bloody terrified of Nic, especially following the success of the FPFW campaign re prisons. Now her big guns are pointed at sport they know they don't stand a chance.

This.

And I agree that three male voices discussing how female sport should be dismantled, isn't going to win them many fans.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 18/02/2019 13:00

McKinnon really doesn’t like fairness, on the sports field or off it, it’s clear.

Oxytocindeficient · 18/02/2019 13:01

Classist oaf.

Indeed.

HawayMan · 18/02/2019 13:05

I study at quite a sporty university. Whilst our Students’ Union is wokesville, the sports department is not. I don’t know a single athlete here, pro or amateur, who thinks that trans women should be able to compete with women.
