FPFW disinvited from discussing Martina's comments on 5Live

TransposersArePosers · 18/02/2019 11:00

Nicola WIlliams was invited to speak about Martina's comments along with RM. This on the FPFW facebook page

We were then disinvited after Rachel McKinnon publicly refused to participate if we were included. We discussed this decision with editor Philo Holland explaining how this is a frequently used tactic to silencing opposing views. It contravenes BBC editorial guidelines to allow a guest to veto the appearance of another

So the BBC being biased again, what a surprise. And a GC voice being no platformed. Why is it that these individuals are frightened to go up against the common sense facts??

If one passenger refuses to sit next to another, who should the airline ask to move seats?

WeRiseUp · 19/02/2019 09:32

Does anyone have a share token for the times article?

BigGoat · 19/02/2019 09:40

McKinnon is such a toxic figurehead for the TRA movement, that I do sometimes wonder if they have been paid to divide unity on the left.

Oh look, it seems that again trans ideology has more in common with ultra-orthodox religion than rationality.

"Oh look, it seems that again trans ideology has more in common with ultra-orthodox religion than rationality."

Yes, trans ideology is the newest form of fundamentalism - acceptance without questioning or consideration.

Victoriapestis · 19/02/2019 10:08

I’ve complained on the online form linked above. I hope every woman reading this does.

For the national broadcaster to exclude us like this is not just appalling- it is frightening. Women need to make their voices heard. Urgently.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “We invited Dr Williams to appear on the programme and after initially agreeing to join us at a later point in the show she subsequently declined. The offer remains open.”

Oh dearie me, BBC. That is not a good look.

Nic Williams was invited onto the programme with Rachel McKinnon. Rachel McKinnon took to Twitter to claim they are a biological woman and refuse to discuss their existence live on the radio with a woman who disagrees. Then Nic Williams gets disinvited.

It's all out there, auntie.

Your slippery assertion that she gets to talk to a wall later on, is obvious to everyone.

The comments under the Daily Mail article are proving that people totally get that McKinnon vetoed Williams with your approval.

Datun · 19/02/2019 10:35

I would like to see Nic Williams state that she will debate publicly with any transactivists, any time. And ask the BBC to draw up a list.

Let's get this out there. Let's count the number of people who think they can uphold their argument.

andyoldlabour · 19/02/2019 10:38

McKinnon looks like a deranged psycho in that Times article picture. Shock

dolorsit · 19/02/2019 10:42

Of course if Dr Nic had agreed to speak later the TRAs would be all over Twitter complaining that it was unfair there was no "trans" voice and claiming bias. They would conveniently omit that they had already had their say.

DoctoressPlague · 19/02/2019 10:49

Whatever, Beeb. You allowed a trans activist to no-platform a women's organisation in a discussion about women's sports and let them dominate the "debate" with unfounded claims about transphobia.
FFS, you had three males discussing an issue that affects WOMEN - two trans sportspeople who represent one side of the "debate", and one male presenter who appeared totally clueless and unable to challenge the contributors. Wake the fuck up!

Trousering · 19/02/2019 10:54

FFS, you had three males discussing an issue that affects WOMEN

I think this needs repeating. They are so blind to their own predjudice.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 19/02/2019 11:00

They are so blind

No, they know full well what they are doing, it's not accidental it's deliberate.
However unlike the other times they have done this, this time people are seeing it.

Datun · 19/02/2019 11:00

I completely agree.

Men should be the last people to discuss women's rights.

Plus the BBC asserted that Nolan would ask all the right questions of McKinnon!

Nolan hasn't, and never will have, the first clue. Because he is part of the cohort doing the targeting, not the cohort being targeted.

Datun · 19/02/2019 11:02

However unlike the other times they have done this, this time people are seeing it.

I agree. There are over 400 trans people employed at the BBC. They have a huge conflict of interest here.

DoctoressPlague · 19/02/2019 11:08

Oh yes. Don't worry dears, an experienced tough man will represent your voice.
I think I have peak-Beeb'd.

Popchyk · 19/02/2019 11:16

From the Mail article at the end:

"The cyclist wrote afterwards: 'I still can't believe she said this...to me of all people.'

teawamutu · 19/02/2019 13:10

In my complaint I did point out the optics of having no biological woman in the discussion. Can't wait to see if they address it...

boatyardblues · 19/02/2019 13:47

Manage those expectations teawamutu 😕

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 19/02/2019 13:58

I had a look back through my collection of BBC complaints today

3 of them relate to discussions about things important to women being carried out with no actual women present

  1. the GRA discussion in Victoria Derbyshire. Admittedly they did have female who identifies as a man on the panel, but unlikely to provide balanced views

  2. the Sophie Cook Newsnight Womxn cluster fuck

  3. this latest cock up

if you can't see sex you can't see sexism. and by god, the BBC can't see sexism these days. women have been subject to the views of men taking precedence over their own for quite some time now. good to see the BBC continuing the tradition

WineGummyBear · 19/02/2019 14:56

Just submitted my first ever complaint to the BBC.

I fear it won't be the last of 2019.

3 males agreeing with themselves about who should be allowed to compete in women's sport and that Martina Navratilova is transphobic and should she be sacked? Not cool.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 19/02/2019 15:44

I've complained too. I look forward to a reply informing me that there were not three males sitting discussing it, because TWAW. In which case I shall write back to thank them for proving my point that they are enacting a compulsory political and religious doctrine instead of being impartial and balanced, and this ends their right to any public funding. The massive majority of society are fully aware that TW are male, this point of view is not going to change, and when interviews like this are seen through the eyes of someone who perceives them as male, those interviews are indefensible.

As a side note: McKinnon's reference to the KKK. I know TRAs are famed for utterly tone deaf, offensive appropriation without conscience, but for fucks sake. We're talking about people, real people, who lived with their houses being smashed into at night, people dragged from their beds and lynched, burned alive. I'd love to hear what one of those survivors thinks of McKinnon trivialising and using their history to add high drama to their high drama. Those communities were not terrorised by people writing polite letters, pointing out facts and discussing current law, and they'd have laughed in your face if you'd suggested to them that this was 'literal violence'.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 19/02/2019 15:45

Do you get many members of the KKK in the UK?
