The lawyer who shall not be named

Now I'm totally GC and think the way they have behaved in the past is vile (along with the Dr who shall not be named) but the amount of abuse they are receiving is truly horrific.

Some of the responses are abhorrent 'die tr@*^y scum' - no one deserves that. I really hope they lose the case and civil action but it really upsets me that they are receiving such abuse.

American MAGA men have nothing to do with us.

I use up all my bovveredness on women and girls. I don't waste it on patriarchal infighting.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 12/02/2019 09:14

Apologies hey if this comes out wrong, not having a pop honestly

But what do you want us to do/see happen?

Trousering · 12/02/2019 09:16

we will be affiliated with it

If you want to believe that you are being affiliated with it go ahead, but you can leave the we out of it please.

LangCleg · 12/02/2019 09:17

Right wing men in the US are very proud that they have freedom of speech. Right wing men in the US are very proud that they have freedom of speech.

Yes, quite. The last time someone became so worried over this despite being so GC (Confused) I went and looked. Clearly a lot of saying man, man, man to assert Exceptional Superiority over the First Amendment rather than anything personal.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 12/02/2019 09:19

I think it's too kind of you to care about the abuse, but would SH be upset if you were told 'DIAF cis scum'? Absolutely not. Quite the opposite to be honest.

Ereshkigal · 12/02/2019 09:19

I couldn't remember which amendment it was Grin getting confused with the one about guns.

TimeLady · 12/02/2019 09:23

Calling a person “she” instead of “ze” could be grounds for a $250,000 fine in New York City under new civil rights guidelines published just before Christmas which ban the “misgendering” of individuals.

dailycaller.com/2015/12/28/new-york-can-fine-you-250k-for-misgendering-somebody/

Not sure I'd call that freedom of speech.

OvaHere · 12/02/2019 09:27

The lawyer wouldn't give a fuck if American men were piling on to British women, they'd be all over that in a heartbeat.

As other's have said it was only a matter of time before their antics drew attention from people other than feminist women.

After all the discussions here recently about women fighting between themselves, this is what men fighting between themselves looks like!

Oxytocindeficient · 12/02/2019 09:33

And so it came to pass. They're all males, slugging it out amongst themselves, as males do the world over.

Am I expected to have a reaction to a criminal, a bully and a misogynist, being harassed on twitter by other bullies and misogynists? I literally do not care. This has nothing to do with me or any other GC feminist.

AnotherBewilderedQuoll · 12/02/2019 09:35

I'm not sure if I've just seen the tweets referred to but there is a thread with a number of comments by American men, correctly identifying the sex of the nameless lawyer [who's actually had quite a few names in the past..]. Interesting. Because the American men's comments are a couple of days old, despite being tweeted directly to h**. By contrast, I once copped a twelve hour ban within ten minutes of tweeting within a GC thread, that [a large Green man] is a man, and quoting the Google dictionary definition to support my stance. Less than ten minutes. They can be swift when they want, can't they?

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 12/02/2019 09:36

I don't know what I want to see happen, or what I expected when they started the ludicrous campaign, I guess it just made me feel, not sad, but something for them - which is totally unexpected as they are a dangerous, vile human.

Lang: it doesn't make me any less GC because I care about someone being piled on, I can't help my feelings - o don't agree whatsoever with them and how they treat women but just the sheer amount of people commenting and the 'die xxxxx scum' is just awful.

Ereshkigal · 12/02/2019 09:36

The TRAs aren't reporting them, is my guess. They only care about reporting GC women and male allies.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 12/02/2019 09:38

Trousering - I wasn't suggesting that I am or we are affiliated with anything, just that the TRAs all think we are siding with right wing fundamentalist - they don't discriminate the i from the we, that was all I was saying.

Barracker · 12/02/2019 09:38

I just flipped the circumstances hypothetically in my mind and imagined that instead of women agonising over the dreadful infighting between two factions of hateful violent men, the situation was reversed...
Imagine forum boards full of concerned, kind, articulate, politically minded men, agonising over two factions of violent, threatening women, and all the men wondering whether they ought to condemn the nastiness for fear that they might be associated with it by reasonable people, and perhaps also because they were genuinely concerned that the poor women who, admittedly, had gone around getting other women arrested, fired, and stalked might now themselves be in danger?

That would totally happen, right?

Men are bullying other men. The original bullies are being bullied by other, bigger bullies.

I'd condemn them all, if only they'd take their boots off the necks of women for a moment.

I'm not apologising for the actions of men who I have no association with.
And those who would erroneously associate women with such men and would hold them responsible for their actions would not be interested in any proclamations I would make.

Ereshkigal · 12/02/2019 09:39

They will always misrepresent us because it's completely in their interests to do so.

Ereshkigal · 12/02/2019 09:40

I'm curious about what you expect people to do, OP.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 12/02/2019 09:41

I don't want to apologise nor do I think any of should have to - I guess I was commenting more generally that I felt 'sorry' for them almost. Like I said, this came as more of a surprise to me than anyone.

I think the thread was more a comment on the abuse than anything - but the table have turned on the lawyer that can't be named!!

OP posts:
LangCleg · 12/02/2019 09:42

I don't know what I want to see happen

I would suggest you went and remonstrated with men about it.

What has intra-patriarchy abuse got to do with women? And why are you trying to foist the responsibility onto feminists?

OvaHere · 12/02/2019 09:42

The TRAs aren't reporting them, is my guess. They only care about reporting GC women and male allies.

There is nothing to be gained by reporting US MAGA men. They can't go after them legally because they are American and have the 1st Amendment.

There is more benefit in leaving the tweets up as evidence of victimhood.

I strongly suspect they don't really care about those men being nasty because getting women banned, suspended and harassed by the Police is not about hurt or offence it's about power, control and validation.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 12/02/2019 09:44

Nothing Eresh, I didn't think I would get answers just musing - I'm guessing this is not a good thing Blush

I have started a few threads on FWR in my old username but I now I feel like I shouldn't have started this one. My bad.

OP posts:
HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 12/02/2019 09:46

Lang - that wasn't my intention at all, I wasn't trying to foist anything upon anyone. I wanted to share my thoughts and feelings and understand why I was so conflicted but now I feel like shit that I posted.

I'll ask for the thread to be deleted. Sorry.

Not on a feminism board. This is nothing to do with feminism

Trousering · 12/02/2019 09:50

You said "our cause is getting lost" which is ridiculous hyperbolic nonsense.

It's a few shouty men on twitter. The work women have done is not so trivial that it can be negated in five minutes by some loudmouth people. Or do you believe that men's voices are so much more important than women's that our cause is lost because of some unpleasant men?

ErrolTheDragon · 12/02/2019 09:51

I don't think there's anything wrong with you starting this thread, OP.

Vile tweets... not in my name.

But yes, they're just words, nothing like as bad as getting the police to bang up a woman for hours because you don't like what she said. So the tiniest of violins.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 12/02/2019 09:51

Oxy - I was conflicted on how I feel about this person in general and then seeing the pile on. I wanted to work through and see what others thought.

I love this board and wanted a bit of discussion was all.
