www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/transgender-women-should-entitled-womb-13972102

"Because once the medical community accept this as a treatment for cis-women with uterine infertility, such as congenital absence of a womb, then it would be illegal to deny a trans-female who has completed her transition.

"The most important step is the harvesting from the donor as great care is required to avoid damage to the arteries and veins supplying the uterus.
Trans females have a much narrower pelvis than cis-women of the same height, but there would still be room for them to carry a child.

“Supplemental hormones could be taken to replicate the changes that occur in the body when a woman is pregnant.

datun quoting other posters to challenge their points only really works if you quote them properly. You lopped off the entire second half of a sentence to suit your angle.

“ “The flyer they handed out was considered provocative propaganda.”

The absolute cheek of this is difficult to believe. Anyone can read the flyer. Got Google? It's not bloody propaganda to claim that lesbians are female homosexuals. “

I said it was considered provocative propaganda by many people, including the in the mainstream media reporting. Which it was. You may disagree with that assessment of the contents, but still, that’s how the flyer was received by general perception.

No cheek involved in stating that.

Once again, the objections to that protest were funded in a lot more than the wording of that one banner.

Reporting and condemnation focussed on mostly three aspects of it:

  1. the comandeering of the lead of the parade, a position that had been reserved for NHS staff in recognition of the anniversary celebrations,
  2. The causing a lengthy delay for thusands of people in very hot conditions
  3. Handing out flyers at the head of a parade that included trans people and their families, whose content was considered offensive and anti trans by many people present at the event and afterwards.

Yes, I’ve read it. I’m glad to see it get posted on this thread again so other readers can see the contents again and discover for themselves that it was far far more than a definition of the word lesbian on a banner.

OldCrone · 09/02/2019 15:40

But if you can't get over your hang up about transwomen, then I fear you are going to end up being the plaything of 'real' men for the rest of your lives

What? Please explain.

MargueritaPink · 09/02/2019 15:41

Stop bullying a marginalised minority

Who are you actually speaking to here ? No one on here has posted anything which remotely resembles bullying. I don't believe for one minute that anyone posting here has bullied a trans woman in real life.

mamasiz · 09/02/2019 15:41

I am so angry about this. Considering the dire state of antenatal care for ACTUAL women - money given to funding anything like this is an absolute outrage.

FloralBunting · 09/02/2019 15:45

I'm kind of speechless right about now. How do you answer 'why are you scared to go up against 'real' men?' and 'you don't address the real problem and you are as bad as the men who oppress us'?

Jazz, mate, how about you engage with what is actually being said by the women here. It would be so much more productive than your long screeds of finger wagging at the women doing things wrong iyo.

allies fighting prejudice

Oh, fuck off with this allies bullshit.

birdsdestiny · 09/02/2019 15:47

Unless discussion about conflicting rights is considered bullying. But nobody would be that controlling.

Treefloof · 09/02/2019 15:47

Now even if we take the estimated number of people suffering genderdysphoria in the UK that is estimated at about 200,000 but there is no hard data because many keep it hidden

But you are forgetting all the other trans people which probably amounts to a few millions when every "gender" is taken into account. Plus all the men that tell their mum they are trans.
You keep making trans people out to only be dysphoria haters. It is anyone who says they are. Stop being transphobia please.

Treefloof · 09/02/2019 15:48

Havers not haters

FlyingOink · 09/02/2019 15:48

I’m glad to see it get posted on this thread again so other readers can see the contents again and discover for themselves that it was far far more sensible than I have painted it

birdsdestiny · 09/02/2019 15:48

Thanks flyingoink, I didn't have the energy to point that out.

FeministCat · 09/02/2019 15:50

I've got a bit in my will specifying that only a biological woman can have my uterus.

Someone may have already said this, but unless this is a living will/personal directive, it is useless to have this in there. Actual testamentary wills are rarely found, referred to, and not even enacted (since they only come into play at death) and until long transplants would be completed can, and often even after funerals are completed.

It needs to be in a living will/personal directive so someone you appoint with authority can make decisions about your medical care including organ donation (because you are actually still “living” at the time those decisions are made.

Women attacking transwoman

The first link is really fishy. It says the women exposed themselves, but also that it wasn't clear they had legal representation. The article looks like swiss cheese - it leave so many more questions than answers. There's a good chance that was one of the strategic test cases to push for males in women's spaces.

The second link is about the male with feminised appearance who was swinger/prostitute killed by a man in 2018 which has already been mentioned on this thread.

mamasiz · 09/02/2019 15:52

@LondonHuffyPuffy I think I love you. Wishing you well 💐

FloralBunting · 09/02/2019 15:52

I'm not sure I have the energy at all for this tbh.

"Team up, women, with the transpeople so eager to fight against the men who oppress us all! (Please ignore the trans people who are male bodied and issuing threats and telling you to shut up)"

It's all so 'look at the eyes, not around the eyes'.

FlyingOink · 09/02/2019 15:54

FeministCat
I don't think it's would be legally enforceable anyway. You can't choose who gets your organs. The only option is to deselect uterus.

One from North Carolina.

One report from the UK of a man who killed a trans woman. His girlfriend was convicted of helping him try to cover it up.

Two reports of trans people in the UK reporting high levels of attacks, but this appears to include verbal abuse and public discussion of trans ideology and the possible impact on women's rights and other matters of general importance to society, not all physical attacks. This is self-report and it's from Stonewall, which is not a neutral source.

One report about Linda Bellos, a pensioner, who was asked about the case of Maria McLachlan, another pensioner, assaulted at Hyde Park Corner by a transactivist. Linda said, as many other women would have said, that if anyone attempted to attack her she would try to defend herself. The CPS were asked to investigate this heinous threat to public order and found no reason to prosecute. A transactivist tried to bring a public prosecution against Linda and it was thrown out.

One report of a drunk man shouting at a trans woman and then hitting her.

It's not really an epidemic of women assaulting trans women, is it?

FlyingOink · 09/02/2019 15:56

Bittermints no, it's just a smoke bomb of links to slow readers down. Like the long post full of inaccuracies.
When there's two or three posters like that on a thread it's hard to stop the derailment.

birdsdestiny · 09/02/2019 16:00

But remember when we discuss this issue we are reflecting from the real threat from men. You know the men who say " Women are as violent as men" " No sometimes means yes" "Why should women need separate spaces from men"
Oh hold on a second.

Bowlofbabelfish · 09/02/2019 16:07

No. UK.

UK women physically attacking transwomen.

Not abroad. Here. The UK.

Since this is a huge problem there must be loads of reports?

J

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 09/02/2019 16:07

All y'all are forgetting the literal violence of misgendering. Those attacks are massively under-reported, I am sure.

rolls eyes

WeRiseUp · 09/02/2019 16:09

other

Almost 900 [self selected?] trans and non-binary people took part in the investigation by charity Stonewall, which campaigns on LGBT rights, revealing how respondents had been publicly shamed, sworn at, and physically attacked.

“What we have found is deeply worrying,” Ruth Hunt, Stonewall chief executive said. “Hate crime and discrimination against trans people, on our streets, in our hospitals, in workplaces and at universities, is widespread.

“Two in five trans people had to deal with a hate crime or incident in the past 12 months. [does this include disagreeing with people on twitter or reading blogs where people say things they don't like?] Many trans people are forced to hide who they are, change how they dress or drop out of university because of fear of discrimination. ['Fear of discrimination? What exactly is that discrimination? Not being able to access the facilities of the opposite sex? People not convincingly pretending to perceive them as the opposite sex?] In our workplaces, half of trans and non-binary people have hidden or disguised that they are LGBT for this reason, [how does this deception impact upon a woman who believes a male colleague is the same sex as her, or suspects that he isnt, but is afraid to mention it though?] and one in eight have been physically attacked by a colleague or customer.” [physically attacked. That is a strong statement. Receipts please stonewall].

All a bit fishy again.

LangCleg · 09/02/2019 16:10

Right, so there are a gazillion incomprehensibly unreported attacks on trans males in the UK every single nano second and so therefore... what? We bigoted crones should report to the re-education centre and donate our wombs to them for impossible uterine transplants at 9am sharp Monday morning?

WTF?

Look. Horrible men do horrible things to women because they are misogynists. Misogyny is not the reason that horrible men do horrible things to trans males. The impetus is twinned to homophobia, not misogyny. The horrible men aren't seeing women when they do horrible things to trans males: they are seeing failed/bad men. Doesn't make it any better - but it is nothing to do with women and everything to do with horrible men.

You know it. I know it. The horrible men know it. The trans people know it.

And none of it has anything to do with womb transplants.
