No details given (yet) about what it's all about, but I have 2 guesses about who might be behind it.

What now?

GrinitchSpinach · 02/02/2019 19:41

Oh for goodness sakes. Rosa, PLEASE create a crowdfunding type thing. Solidarity!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 02/02/2019 19:41

Wow. They're messing with the wrong person there.

Popchyk · 02/02/2019 19:45

What exactly was her crime?

Presumably whoever it was tried the police first who were not interested (unusually) and so this is their next option.

Cowardly fucker.

I hope Rosa tells us who it was.

And then sets up a huge crowdfunder for legal costs that allow Rosa to hire very expensive representation.

Who go after this cowardly fucker for their costs.

AncientLights · 02/02/2019 19:45

Rosa sounds ok with it: is that genuine do we know? Whatever, she's a professor of law and I can't help feeling they've picked on the wrong woman. Solidarity, Rosa, if you read this. Let us know how we can help. Flowers

NotANotMan · 02/02/2019 19:46

On the day that universities are given instructions not to no platform 'objectionable' views. Interesting juxtaposition, for a university professor to be arrested for doing just that.

NotANotMan · 02/02/2019 19:47

There is a certain non lawyer who likes to bring private suits when they can't get the cops to harass people on their behalf.

Popchyk · 02/02/2019 19:50

She's not been arrested.

This does not sound like a criminal prosecution at all. Police not involved in any way in this.

It sounds like civil action from an individual (so no crime has actually been committed).

Obviously I don't know. Just speculation on my part.

HawayMan · 02/02/2019 19:52

This will surely be another own goal for the TRAs? Rosa is very smart.

Dorade · 02/02/2019 19:53

If Rosa is culpable, we're all fucked. She is the most moderate of voices.

And if you were going to pick on someone for a legal fight, why on earth would you pick on a professor of law?

Only someone as barking as haddock would do this surely?

Dorade · 02/02/2019 19:55

Oh yes, the aviating non-lawyer is another possibility.

Popchyk · 02/02/2019 19:57

By going public, Rosa gets to take control of it.

This will be garner more publicity. Rosa has already been in the mainstream media for the harassment that she has been subjected to. This is an escalation of that.

Rosa could do the rounds of the talk shows if she wanted to. And obviously talk about who it is who is taking her to court. And why self-ID is such a bad idea. Rosa is very intelligent and sympathetic and would come across very well.

Yambabe · 02/02/2019 20:00

YY Popchyk I assumed it's a civil suit not criminal.

Nobody on the "other side" boasting about it that I can see (which possibly rules out our golfing buddy as they are generally very vocal about who they are harassing) but despite being pretty moderate in my views and barely using twitter for anything I am blocked by a lot of TRA.

Sorry for my ignorance, but can someone explain what 'served papers' means? It sounds legal and terrifying, but I don't know what the process is.

McTufty · 02/02/2019 20:08

Basically means has received formal notice that someone is bringing a civil claim against them.

Popchyk · 02/02/2019 20:18

That thread on Twitter has been deleted.

What is going on?

The link doesn't work but I am very saddened to hear this. I have seen Rosa speak and she was engaging and insightful and really made me think. She should definitely set up a crowdfunding for any legal fees she would have a lot of support.

Popchyk · 02/02/2019 20:27

Did we ever get to the bottom of Ricky Gervais's threads that disappeared?

He tweeted last week about Harry the Owl's situation in very mild terms from the freedom of speech angle. Didn't even mention transgender. The two tweets were subsequently deleted.

And then yesterday Gervais tweeted "The best thing about making a snowperson is using a massive carrot for her cock". But that wasn't deleted.

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 02/02/2019 20:28

Oh my goodness. This is ridiculous. I hope this nonsense is thrown out of court.

MsMcWoodle · 02/02/2019 20:38

Full support to Rosa. Will do whatever is needed.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/02/2019 20:39

I hope she’s just some something boring like put up an unauthorised extension or something. I can only imagine what it is though.

Popchyk · 02/02/2019 20:45

The tweet said something like "many thanks to the person who served papers on me this week. Such a joy to be able to clarify the difference between sex and gender in court". Something like that anyroads.

So I'm guessing that it is not about an extension that doesn't have building regs. Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/02/2019 20:47

I look forward to this . Any likely suspect so far?
