The thread I wrote about attending Posie Parker's panel on gender identity and social media has attracted a lot of attention, and I thought it might be good to establish more of a dialogue. Ask me anything!

Also, to get this one out of the way: my babysitting rates are £15/hr, plus flights, and I'll provide a clean CRB check 😂

I didnt realise when I joined the thread what had gone before, had acciudentally skipped a bunch of it. Am glad it went ahead. I think all in all it was really useful.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:37

''This is not erasure. This is captivity.''

Innit. Fuck off with that shit. As if we were going to agree to that. Lol

Datun · 30/01/2019 23:37

I think all in all it was really useful.

It's always useful. Two things to remember:

Mumsnet has 12 million unique users per month.

And so secondly, everyone needs to realise they're not really talking to Liz. At all.

I certainly wasn't.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:39

Activism where you opponents are people specifically protected by legislation and you use a bat to police a discussion of the rule of law that protects them? I dont care if this is activists with no insight into it, I dont care if the institutions pushing it had no insight, the impact is not fucking altered by it.

FloralBunting · 30/01/2019 23:40

I like fairly green bananas to eat, but once they are proper yellow, I can't do it.

Luggs, the ridiculous thing is, I knew about Wimbledon Common, I just genuinely never made the connection until you just posted about it because of the pause in the song. But then I am a goldmine of ridiculously embarrassing misunderstandings, including having one parent from London and believing that Dick Van Dyke was English, based on his turn in Mary Poppins. The shame.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 30/01/2019 23:41

You're going to curry wombles, Luggs?

Well I would've had I not now realised you can only get the feckers in one place. I haven't the time for niche shopping, if you can't pick them up in Lidl, I'm not interested.

Mind you, curried Womble might be the very thing that a banana garnish was made for.

waterlego · 30/01/2019 23:42

Strawberries and raspberries are not berries, but avocados and watermelons are.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:43

I know. But don't forget you have Liz's permission to call youself something other than woman.

Bless.

I am so grateful and that was so generously given.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:45

What is all this fuckery going on with my perception of fruit and vegetabls? This is rapidly turning into a life altering thread. Waterlego that cant even be true.

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 23:45

if you can't pick them up in Lidl

Middle aisle.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 30/01/2019 23:46

"As Oiy live and bray-the", Dick Van Dyke isn't English?!

Wot?!

AngryAttackKittens · 30/01/2019 23:48

I'm going to have that bloody remember you're a Womble song stuck in my head now.

Also, Liz, thanks for showing the 12 million readers of Mumsnet exactly who you are.

FloralBunting · 30/01/2019 23:49

And for years I totally believed that my dad dug up the dead rabbit when we moved and buried her at the new house.

I was a rather credulous child...

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:49

I want the right to police how you think about how you are fucked over with a bat, and you will call yourself what I say you can call yourself and dont make me angry and I want access to all spaces of safert from male violence. Cos I say so.

As a general rule if it sounds like a very very scary controlling threatening abusive boyfriend you should be running away from, its not feminism.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 30/01/2019 23:50

Middle aisle.

Ah the Aisle of Random Shit - would there be a better, more fitting place to hold a Womble captive?

AngryAttackKittens · 30/01/2019 23:50

So you heard it as "The wombles of Wimbledon, common are we" Floral?

This is why punctuation is important, kids.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:51

Floralbunting I believed the moon landings were faked for ages, I believed if you farted and sneezed at the same time you would die from a rupture of something till I was 23 and it happened and I didnt die, I have believed some really random shit over the years.. I nearly fell for a youtube video that said you could make a crystal from a charcoal briquette and peanut butter, but luckily I caught myself just in time..

AngryAttackKittens · 30/01/2019 23:52

I think what you can make from charcoal and peanut butter is "a mess".

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:53

And the freezer and a big bucket of ice AngryAttackKittens.

FloralBunting · 30/01/2019 23:54

Lisa, I am astonished that these people come here and think that their motivations will not be starkly obvious. My only conclusion is that they are so turned inwards that they genuinely don't have a clue how their stuff sounds.

It's either that level of self absorption or a kind of evil glee that doesn't actually care which is pretty scary to contemplate, tbh.

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 23:55

Ah the Aisle of Random Shit - would there be a better, more fitting place to hold a Womble captive?

It covers all needs!

BeUpStanding · 30/01/2019 23:56

A good friend of mine includes bananas in a fry-up. Slices them in half long ways and frys them in with the bacon.

FloralBunting · 30/01/2019 23:57

I got some really crap Tupperware from the Aldi random shit aisle. It nests, and the lids are really pretty rainbow colours, but they don't fit on the fecking tubs.

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:57

No I know and they dont realise what they are saying. Once they get past discussion of their identity and 'because I said so' they are left with the conversation we are having is a threat ot their identity. Because its aout protection and systems which are about real stuff, real laws, and they've said they dont want to discuss these systems, their identity is threatened by them, and they react badly to the conversation happening, you have to take that at face value. I dont think they have any insight into it. At all. So you ant expect it to change which is why its so circular.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 30/01/2019 23:57

I nearly fell for a youtube video that said you could make a crystal from a charcoal briquette and peanut butter

Well to be fair, it's not dissimilar to how they are made in nature... I mean apart from the charcoal... and the peanut butter??!!

Are you sure it wasn't an oblique reference to making crystal meth?
