The thread I wrote about attending Posie Parker's panel on gender identity and social media has attracted a lot of attention, and I thought it might be good to establish more of a dialogue. Ask me anything!

Also, to get this one out of the way: my babysitting rates are £15/hr, plus flights, and I'll provide a clean CRB check 😂

This thread went from familiar patterns and what we already knew to utterly mindblowing in one fucking post.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 30/01/2019 23:17

Did anybody else interpret the Womble song as "The Wombles of Wimbledon, common are we", as opposed to "The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we" because they didn't know Wimbledon Common was an actual place?

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:17

Luggssaysnotawoman Yup

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 30/01/2019 23:18

High fives Lisa.

PurpleCrowbar · 30/01/2019 23:19

So we can't have a 'women's org' anymore if we don't include people who self define as women, but maybe we can if we call ourselves wombles.

At this point, I'm a bit done with this particular clownshoes.

Good thread for lurkers.

FloralBunting · 30/01/2019 23:20

Luggs yes! I believed that there were Wombles in every park up and down the country, because they were common, and I think I've only just learned the truth in the last two minutes!!!!Shock

Oh, and yes, bananas are a herb and tomato is a fruit, but if you sprinkle bananas over bolognese or put tomatoes in with your dairy ice cream, it won't go well.

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 23:20

Please feel free to create whatever organisations you like

We have, thanks. Not awaiting your permission, really. They are called:

Get the L Out

Apologies if I've left any out.

YouCantTourniquetTheTaint · 30/01/2019 23:21

You've made up some very much exaggerated claims on your Twitter feed about this AMA.

Is it usual for you to distort the truth?

You say you care about girls and womens rights. You don't at all. You sound very self centred and self absorbed. Can you really honestly not see the issues that could arise from self ID? I as a woman don't give a shit about how you identify, you could identify as an apache helicopter I couldn't give a flying fuck. What I do care about is removing the safeguarding and gatekeeping that is in place. Theres been an unwritten not spoken about sharing sex segregated spaces with trans women. They haven't bothered us, we haven't bothered them. Lovely jubbly. Then theres been an explosion of tra's who have caused so much damage to the relationship we had, and are trying to trample over our as women hard won rights and protections. Removing those safeguards will allow abusive men to access women's spaces on no more than a 'im a woman' that is terrifying. Its not trans people that are the problem it's the people who will and have taken advantage. How can you not see this? If uou really care about women and girls you'd be fighting to keep safeguards in place.

It's quite sickening you saying that theres no violent connection to you posing in your pants with a baseball bat. We know that, that isn't true. All you're missing is the die cis scum tattoo.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/01/2019 23:23

Can someone explain why bananas are a herb? Preferably before Lang suggests that we start adding them to our pasta, roast potatoes, etc?

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 23:24

Oh, and yes, bananas are a herb and tomato is a fruit, but if you sprinkle bananas over bolognese or put tomatoes in with your dairy ice cream, it won't go well.

Don't give certain people ideas.

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 23:24

Haha cross post AAK!

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:24

Says, with a baseball bat, if domestic abuse shelters dont let me in they cant call themselves services for women. I have seen variations on that but thats actually impressive. Noted. A banana is a herb though? Forty years old and you find out that a banana is a her. THAT is actually amazing. That deserves its own thread but I cant think what I'd hang it around.

Ereshkigal · 30/01/2019 23:25

It's because it's considered a herbaceous plant.

PurpleCrowbar · 30/01/2019 23:25

To be fair, unripe bananas work quite well in a mild curry.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/01/2019 23:27

I'm not sure why anyone expected anything different than what they got from Liz. Hope springs eternal, I suppose.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 30/01/2019 23:27

Floral - I grew up up north but have lived in London for over twenty years and it was only last year when I actually went to Wimbledon Common and saw the sign, I was like "Oooooh... shit. Common as in place, not common as in prevalence. Probably makes more sense".

TinselAngel · 30/01/2019 23:30

I don't like bananas (controversial,I know), but I do like Wombles. And I love Bernard Cribbins because he reminds me of my adored late Dad.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 30/01/2019 23:32

They might taste alright in a curry. Bit hard to plant them in your herb garden window box though, I should think.

LangCleg · 30/01/2019 23:33

I like the idea of becoming a Womble, what with being common and a woman.

LangCleg · 30/01/2019 23:33

I am feeling attacked by innuendo on this thread. WBHphobes are the pits.

TinselAngel · 30/01/2019 23:34

You're going to curry wombles, Luggs? Shock

lisamuggeridge · 30/01/2019 23:34

I thought they meant common as in not posh.

Datun · 30/01/2019 23:35

Says, with a baseball bat, if domestic abuse shelters dont let me in they cant call themselves services for women.

I know. But don't forget you have Liz's permission to call youself something other than woman.

Bless.

AnneHutchinson · 30/01/2019 23:35

Just so it's perfectly clear:

The people formerly known as men who now identify as women, even if women agree that yes you are woman, dictate that the people formerly known as women but now identifying as Wombles may only organise in their presence and never outside their presence. A Womble identify is not sufficient to allow one the same rights to organise that the people formerly known as men grant to gay men.

This has been plainly stated.

There is to be NO PLACE where the people in the class born with the capacity to create ova and gestate young may meet outside of private homes without being under the gaze of, in the earshot of and in the physical reach of the people in the class born with the capacity to create sperm and impregnate.

No place at all.

This is not erasure. This is captivity.
