What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

No Wine on a Monday! Although I am tempted

feministfairy · 28/01/2019 22:13

It's too late for a hot buttered crumpet sadly

Fantata · 28/01/2019 22:13

I'm reading The Mountain of Adventure to my kids atm. They were very envious when Mrs Evans gave the children in the book creamy milk and scones with jam to take to bed. All I could think was whether they got up to clean their teeth afterwards. That's because I'm old and joyless.

Fab work to the many wonderful GC women. We don't all agree on everything. We don't have to.

GenderIsAPrison · 28/01/2019 22:13

Anyone tried matcha cheesecake? I know it sounds wrong, but is actually relish.

GenderIsAPrison · 28/01/2019 22:14

Delish 😋

Creamy milk, scones and jam Smile

Matcha cheesecake is very ... errr .... green

GrinitchSpinach · 28/01/2019 22:15

Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey chez Spinach. No pun intended!

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 28/01/2019 22:16

feministfairy · 28/01/2019 22:17

Was matcha cheescake that I meant by green tea! I liked it.

Matcha is powered, finely ground green tea, Bernard. You consume the whole leaf that way so tons of caffeine, so not ideal late at night.

LangCleg · 28/01/2019 22:19

Firstly is it OK to post without a profile? Just seems that anyone new on here who says things others don't like is told they're trolls or plants or something

You can say what you like, love. But if you make it blindingly apparent you've only joined to fuck about with a personal beef, you won't get a good reception. Them's the breaks.

Reminder: most of us have spent half a bloody week pointing out that we're not interested in who's done what and to whom and we support all women who are working on behalf of other women, regardless of their choices on tactics and regardless of how they feel about each other. That's the room you forgot to read.

Do you like Weetabix, by the way?

GenderIsAPrison · 28/01/2019 22:20

It’s powdered green tea, and it’s a bit addictive I 🤔 think.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 28/01/2019 22:20

For the record, I love Lisa M., Posie P. and Jean H. They are not my leaders, they and nearly everyone on this board are my teachers. You have all pulled together brilliantly.

This is exactly how I feel too.

I am not interested in reading posts by any women, or men, incessantly trying to shit stir and tear any of them apart.

Agree with OP that we, as a collective, have done amazing things over the last year and I am so in awe of so many amazing women that I have met, watched, talked to and listened to.

HamiltonCork · 28/01/2019 22:20

Anyone else counting down the minutes till the end of dry January? Xx

Politelygiveszerofucks · 28/01/2019 22:21

Accusations are admissions.

Does that apply to the OP’s blog? There are no accusations apart from noting what the OP has openly written about a multitude of other women.

I was moved to post today because I saw a woman who had openly attempted to undermine and discredit PP, coming on here to say well done wimmin and trying to cover herself in glory.

Anyone pointing this out then gets the mob set on them. But if it’s fine to have disagreements and not descend to personal attacks, maybe OP could take this on board.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/01/2019 22:21

I had a non KitKat attempt at green tea chocolate last year and it was awful, the inside was so sticky that when it broke and oozed out on my kitchen counter I had to scrape it off with the edge of a knife. And then I imagined it sticking to tooth enamel like that.

The creamy versions are better.

feministfairy · 28/01/2019 22:21

Oh God - Lang has mentioned Weetabix. It's now downhill all the way to breakfast Gin

LangCleg · 28/01/2019 22:22

Someone fucking Bunbury me, stat.

(Please nicely.)

AngryAttackKittens · 28/01/2019 22:23

I'm a WBH exclusionary feminist and I make no apologies for it.

And yes - I am counting the hours days

Are women given free passes if Mumsnetters like them?

I was thinking about the characterisation by some TRAs of 'Mumsnetters' this weekend.
The false narrative, 'Mumsnetters' are calling for a new section 28', 'Mumsnetters are transphobic bigots' etc. The generalisation is particularly noticeable when smears are made on other social media sites such as Twitter
I'm not sure how many boards there are on Mumsnet, more that 30? There are huge numbers of women on the site at any one time discussing everything from politics to car parking and whether or not to crate train a puppy. That's aside from the unsurprisingly large number of posts discussing all aspects of being a parent.

The FWR chat (feminism and women's rights board) is one area amongst many on the platform.
As posters repeatly explain there isn't a hive mind on the board, let alone the site.

Regular posters here are especially concerned with Safeguarding children and women's rights. Which shouldn't really be a surprise given the context.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 28/01/2019 22:25

no mob Politelygiveszerofucks, just a bunch of women rolling their eyes so fucking hard they're in danger of passing out

come on, you've been here a while, you know we don't do tearing each other down. there's lots of people who'd love to see it happen though. don't give them the satisfaction

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 28/01/2019 22:25

Yes there does seem to be a pattern of new usernames stating something is so without any evidence whatsoever and expecting those reading to take them seriously. In fact, expecting those reading to take them more seriously than other posters who have a proven track record of fighting for women / children and providing evidenced positions, who we may have been reading for years.

Why did someone mention cheesecake? At some point I'm going to have to admit my post-baby belly is now a post-cheescake belly instead. Do you think it will fool people if I say it identifies as a post-baby belly even if the "baby" is talking and running around?
