What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

tugevvah

Bit classist.

geeewhizz · 28/01/2019 22:58

I'm OK here, thanks, 2ndWaveFeminist and I'm not going to be pushed out by a group of women behaving like a gang of schoolgirls while railing against the patriarchy. It's interesting to note how many women will support the destruction of others. You don't deserve the women you have giving up so much to fight on your behalf while you stand with one who does nothing but tear them down and is doing so right now while you all support her. 'What we did was amazing.' I can't find any proof the OP actually did anything but destroy women.

MsMcWoodle · 28/01/2019 22:58

What a wonderful day. I've loved seeing all the statues and the new ReSisters groups popping up all over.
It's been great too to see the different contributions from very different women. Love them all for what they have done.
There will always be someone to poo on anyone's parade but watching this thread and seeing the increasing desperation has been quite fun too.
That aside, I had Aldi millionaires cheesecake. It's not as good as Gu but not bad.

R0wantrees · 28/01/2019 23:00

I'm hoping they will put them all together, it would make a great screensaver.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/01/2019 23:00

who participate in the demonisation, defamation and destruction of women

I realize that the Weetabix Banana Horror is indeed horrible, but don't you think this is a bit much?

geeewhizz · 28/01/2019 23:01

When women behave like the worst stereotype and refuse to engage in an intelligent conversation while seeking to stonewall and silence another woman who is asking only for that, how can you not expect for your own tactics to be reflected back at you?

MsMcWoodle · 28/01/2019 23:02

Weetabix is out of the question. Brought me right down.

LangCleg · 28/01/2019 23:03

She loves me. She really does.

Isn't it interesting that a refusal to excommunicate - whether it be Posie or Jean or Lisa or Joani or whomever - is immediately interpreted as cult-like uncritical support? Who does that remind you of (again)?

geeewhizz · 28/01/2019 23:04

You're behaving like bullies in the playground to someone who is asking why the prom queen is being allowed to lead the procession when she drover over so many of your 'sisters' to get to the float.

IShouldBeSoLurky · 28/01/2019 23:04

Has anyone read Asterix and the Roman Agent? Just wondering.

MsMcWoodle · 28/01/2019 23:05

Reminder of the title of the thread:

AngryAttackKittens · 28/01/2019 23:05

Prom queens too? Again, not very British.

HamiltonCork · 28/01/2019 23:05

I wonder what the worst stereotype is🤔 on second thoughts I probably don’t want to know.

geeewhizz · 28/01/2019 23:06

I don't know, LangCleg. Being as the only criticism on display here is of anyone but the OP, the one who seems to be the most destructive around here. Are you all seriously going to ignore what she's doing right now? Seriously? And still convince yourselves you're righteous and decent and not a gang of hypocrites?

Are we even allowed to be indifferent to certain women?

(If we're not allowed to be indifferent to most men then I'm really going to be in trouble.)

(Quoting myself because clearly am egomaniac.)

Especially when exactly the same overheated ad hominems have been chucked at me/us multiple times over the past few days for refusing to cast out each one of the above. Ludicrous.

Politelygiveszerofucks · 28/01/2019 23:07

OP has posted under their own name which presumably means they want to be acknowledged and appeal to their own personal authority.

When their own behaviour and savaging of women is addressed, MN collectively sticks their fingers in their ears and goes into full DARVO mode, attempting to silence any apostasy from the cult.

I dunno what I am trying to do here really. Not get people to round on another but pointing out the inconsistency. The past few days have been so wearing and maybe what GeeWhizz and I don’t want to see is more supply and adulation given to who don’t deserve it and no more traumatised women.

HamiltonCork · 28/01/2019 23:07

I’m not the pope. I don’t have the power to excommunicate anyone.

MsMcWoodle · 28/01/2019 23:08

The Gauls were a good gang, weren't they Lurky? I will re read some Asterix.

LangCleg · 28/01/2019 23:08

"I'm not casting out Posie."

"Evil witch in a clique!"

"I'm not casting out Jean."

"Evil witch in a clique!"

"I'm not casting out Lisa."

"Evil witch in a clique!"

AngryAttackKittens · 28/01/2019 23:09

What's everyone's favorite Asterix character? I'd have to say either the bard or the dog.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 28/01/2019 23:09

Dunstable Today article,
'Dunstable’s royal statue dressed up for gender battle #WomenStandUp'

That's a fantastic article, R0wan, thank you for sharing it. I'd never have seen it otherwise.

They've made every point they needed to very clearly.

Excellent work.

LangCleg · 28/01/2019 23:09

Rinse and fucking repeat ad fucking infinitum.

HamiltonCork · 28/01/2019 23:09

Obelix - reminds me of my dad 😂
