What we did was amazing. We pulled the GUardian, Parliament, the House of Lords, the media, out of a position they were determined to have, we changed the debate, we showed women were a political force, we acted, all over the country we acted. In different ways. We were bound by the GRA review and as soon as that was done it was evident that power relations had recreated within a social movement. Yes some people by reflex did things that they would always have done. Now we get to relearn and renegotiate power relations by saying we dont play the way media tribalists did. Whatever fall outs there have been were always going to hapen but we still did that. Thats why htis board is permanently monitored by nutcases and acually the power we demonstrated is directly at the root of the toxic fallouts and is a mark of success in itself. Political spectrum reforming within this movement is alright, but it probably pays to remember how amazing what we achieved was and letting that guide what we can achieve., We changed the conversation we can keep doing that. Easily. By having the conversation we want and not bowing to social media tribalism that hides all sorts of nasties and existing political orgs. And learning in a way they cant.

I think public disagreement with each other is a feature, not a bug, as long as we argue about the issues and don't slate each other.

Agree. Any thoughts then on Lisa’s recent attempts to publicly tear down several other good women?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 28/01/2019 16:07

haven't seen anything about that I'm afraid Politelygiveszerofucks. I'm not a big one for drama

womanformallyknownaswoman · 28/01/2019 16:09

Stop trying to drag others into a mob - you are trying to incite other OPs

Whatever Lisa did or didn’t do has nothing to do with you or anyone else and the issue has been dealt with elsewhere - butt out

Kvinne · 28/01/2019 16:09

And Lisa's attempts to screwing with organising groups by posting deliberately inflammatory stuff and then flouncing? Those were helpful.

Kvinne · 28/01/2019 16:10

I know what you are saying Politely, and I agree with you.

lisamuggeridge · 28/01/2019 16:14

lol I didnt think narc abuse would ever have a purpose, but it does. The repetition of the pattern is very useful. That this has triggered that pattern is useful. That Jean writing tha tblog post triggers it is useful. Just as it was useful to find out what a woman trying to exploit child rape for the far right would do to manage her internal inconsistencies. Normal people dont live ofr social media trolls and approval.

Lets face it. It all makes a change from accusations that we are taking money from The Kremlin.

LangCleg · 28/01/2019 16:21

Oh, FFS.

I don't see any difference between transactivists invading FWR to tell us what we must think and do, and women who are having fights elsewhere invading FWR to tell us what side we must take. Especially when it's based on personal animus and not issues at hand.

Not interested.

Stardustinmyeyes · 28/01/2019 16:26

I'd really like to see the responses from Humberside Police but I can't because Keith Hunter has blocked me. I've never interacted with him, I'm a very low profile twitter user who just likes the odd GC comment. Aimee Challenor has also blocked me.

AnneHutchinson · 28/01/2019 19:18

It’s the height of individualism to demand individuals be perfect politically, when ALL human beings are flawed.

Leftist politics are not individualist politics. Jog on, individualists who police the Elect and demand public shriving: Calvinism is that way ——>

I think you've done a fantastic job Lisa et. al. Grass roots stuff is hard, and it's easy to give up in the face of so much opposition, particularly when it is literally dangerous to speak up.

Vixxxy · 28/01/2019 19:32

Agreed. There is still a long way to go to reverse all the stupid decisions various people/places have made mind. But I do feel optimistic about it all now. So many women pulling together..so many people have awakened the feminist in them..I include me in that too!

Vixxxy · 28/01/2019 19:35

Politelygiveszerofucks

You seem to have a vested interest in trying to get posters here to publicly attack various prominent women. Is there a reason for this?

R0wantrees · 28/01/2019 19:40

Great thread and yes, Wine

Thanks to everybody who’s done anything Star

Politelygiveszerofucks · 28/01/2019 20:46

No interest in trying to get people to publicly attack others. Just saying what I see.

Wish Posie had been able to post her video on Saturday morning. It more than answers the critics.

CowJumping · 28/01/2019 20:54

Great post, lisamuggeridge And if you're the real Lis, deep gratitude for all you do & what you've sacrificed.

Have a listen to Germaine Greer's interview on BBC Radio 4 Front Row if you can - she talks very frankly about the costs of being a revolutionary.

geeewhizz · 28/01/2019 21:13

I'm not sure I understand what's going on here. Firstly is it OK to post without a profile? Just seems that anyone new on here who says things others don't like is told they're trolls or plants or something.

GrinitchSpinach · 28/01/2019 21:20

geeewhizz it's fine to be new. It's just a funny juncture right now; as Women Stand Up week is underway and bringing more visibility to women's rights campaigners, a lot of people who follow/stalk women's rights activists are tweeting and so forth about all their plans to disrupt our online communities. So women here, while always cautious, are sort of on extra high alert about new people right now.

Anyone who's genuine will be understood to be genuine in the course of time. I encourage you to contribute as you see fit. It can be daunting at first but I'm so glad I jumped in a while ago. In fact I wonder whether it's time to start a new lurkers thread....

geeewhizz · 28/01/2019 21:23

I went on to Lisa Muggeridge's blogs after I was sent a video that seemed to make some really unpleasant claims about another woman who I thought did good work. And I was shocked by what I found. There just seemed to be endless output tearing other women apart including Posie Parker. Well, including pretty much every woman who seems to have done some good for other women. And now I've come on here because Posie Parker seems to be being torn apart by another woman again and find Lisa claiming unity and solidarity in success. I also thought Lisa was retiring from social media. There seems to be a pattern here of someone declaring they're leaving a platform or social media altogether and promptly coming straight back on again. I think some really unpleasant things have been said about women by women who then seem to want to pretend they're doing it in everyone's best interests which seems gaslighting to me.
