Nor are people blowing it out of proportion, nobody’s demanding he resigns, just admits he said it and apologises.
People who lean right see this as an annoying distraction from important matters, and let’s be honest, they won’t be debating it in the house tomorrow. This is now in the court of public opinion, personally I think if he apologised quickly this is all good PR for him, he’s certainly scored points with a section of society. But now he just looks like a daft liar.
I maintain the defence “he said people” is absolute nonsense and only gains him political capital with Momentum members, which is pointless as they would have supported him if he sat there throwing shit at her screaming you evil bitch.
