At first I was delighted to see thisat last a big name in women's sport is speaking up! but then I got angry all over again that this utterly obvious point has to be explained to an adult, in this case, a Guardian journalist. It boggles the mind.

Firstly - some men can fetishise anything. Violence, shit, nonhuman objects - name it and there's a man wanking to it right now.

Secondly - some men also actively enjoy the idea of women suffering.

Secondly - some men also actively enjoy the idea of women suffering.

Is that the reason? Ugh.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 15:43

The idea of women being victimized and helpless certainly seems to be part of the fetish.

KittyMcKitty · 23/12/2018 16:00

I’ve always admired Martina and her ability to say what she believes.

Bloody GOLD.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 16:34

Still laughing at "do you know who I am?"

Not previously, though now a great many people do know Rachel as "that arrogant buffoon who cheated their way to one championship and then tried to pull rank on Martina Navratilova".

Legacy, eh?

Sorry if it’s already been referred to but the last tweet by Mckinnon on this thread ‘I hope you see your way to regretting how you’ve handled this’ reminds me so much of Harrop saying he hoped someone had learned a valuable lesson.

There sure are a lot of male humans eager to punish women for being so uppity in the TRA camp, aren't there? Almost as if that was key to the whole movement.

Wordthe · 23/12/2018 17:11

a lot of male humans eager to punish women
the woman part of the transwoman is but a thin veneer beneath which the pillars of masculinity are alive and kicking

AspieAndProud · 23/12/2018 17:15

I used to think TRAs wanted to be women first and then became resentful of real women because of it; now I think that most are resentful of women first and then want to be women because of that.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 17:17

I agree.

Trinity333 · 23/12/2018 17:25

I agree. A close friend has just divorced a narcissist and McKinnon’s tweets are just like something he would write to her. Giving out advice in a patronising tone as if he’s doing her a favour. Again she is very successful and he is not.

I've always thought sport would be the battlefield where the war is won. After all no one cares about the feelings and safety of women prisoners, women in rape shelters, teens in their unisex loos.
But sport is different as it involves money, big money in many disciplines.
Rachel has done more to further the cause (of keeping men out of Women's sport and alerting the world to the madness of the doctrine) than Rachel will ever know.

And I really do love how little insight these people have. Whether it's Rachel, the world champion and world expert, with her 4692 twitter followers, bullying a much loved and respected sports champion (250k followers and a blue tick) or Haddock (who incidentally has 6599 followers) making a fool of himself raging at Posie, it never occurs to them that others might not perceive their actions favourably and they are making big fat fools of themselves.

Let them keep in digging their own holes I say while the rest of us get to laugh on the sidelines.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 17:28

That "trying to help" part reads as 100% pure cluster B.

Wordthe · 23/12/2018 17:32

they want to caricature and mock women, can you imagine the triumph they feel at wiping the floor with women in sport

The great hulking man holds aloft the trophy, on either side of him on the podium the women who lost to him

they know they've been duped, he pulled a fast one and there he is congratulating himself, how clever, openly publicly taking the piss and there's nothing they can do without being accused of being transphobic, bad losers etc

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 17:39

In the case of the cyclist and the Aussie football/handball player I think being seen as the hulking bully bothers them at all, if they were honest. Whatever their motivation is, it's not dysphoria.

(Comment rules preclude being too honest about what I suspect their motivations are.)

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 17:41

I don't think it bothers them at all, rather. If Mouncey for example had any dysphoria at all the last thing they'd want is photos of them looming massively over women who look as dainty and feminine as can be in comparison all over the media.

Wordthe · 23/12/2018 17:46

I agree they are fine about the hulking bully aspect, that picture sends out a very clear message, we are getting away with this in plain sight, we have owned you all

it makes me think of Jimmy Saville on TOTP groping young girls right in front of the camera and he feels like a king because he can subvert the rules and no one can stop him

Wordthe · 23/12/2018 17:49

the wold in sheep's clothing is so confident that he can infiltrate the sheep camp that he hardly bothers to disguise his lupine traits

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 23/12/2018 17:54

In regards to Saville and the BBC / Westminster paedophile ring, a massive open secret which people in power knew about but turned a blind eye to, but the general public suspected for years, some conspiracy theorists might think the it never ended.

Totally unconnected to this current push to breakdown safeguarding and dominate woman.

I hope nobody connects the two unrelated things.

AspieAndProud · 23/12/2018 17:55

I've always thought sport would be the battlefield where the war is won.

Me too, because unlike women’s prisons, women’s shelters and women’s loos, this is being done where men can see it.

And even men who don’t care at all about women care about other men cheating.

TheCountryGirl · 23/12/2018 17:58

I totally agree. They love that they can practise their misogyny for all the world to see and feel untouchable. Well their time for gloating and abuse will one day be over - it is coming, and it will be interesting to see what becomes of these abusers then.

Trinity333 · 23/12/2018 17:58

Thats a good point,. In the photo of McKinnon and the runners up, McKinnon does look much very masculine compared to the runners up. I asked my 6 year old to look at the picture of the three women and she laughed and said that one in the middle is a man! I think it’s about power, control and putting women in their place.

AspieAndProud · 23/12/2018 17:59

Before taking up cycling McKinnon played squash.
