" Big businesses helped kill the Texas bathroom bill two years ago, targeting it as discriminatory and unnecessary.

They said the legislation, which would have required Texans to use the restrooms that match their sex at birth, would have hampered efforts to woo new companies to the state and turned off convention planners and sports leagues looking at venues for events.

Now, some companies are doubling down on that commitment, citing diversity and inclusivity as factors in their decisions. Apple made this clear Thursday, when it announced a $1 billion investment in the capital city.

The bathroom bill, or something like it, may be back when state lawmakers meet in 2019. But opponents of these restroom regulations say the business community will again give them the ammunition they need to shoot down such divisive legislation.

Yeah, I'd think once would be enough!

Meanwhile, the Nobel committee await the proof that sex can be changed at the cellular and chromosome level with baited breath.

AngryAttackKittens · 14/12/2018 23:48

Shortcrust for sure.

Your shortcrust pastry just has to desire to be acknowledged as puff pastry and lo, it will become puff pastry. Problem solved. Xmas Smile

Bowlofbabelfish · 14/12/2018 23:49

People innately know what they are. What makes them women is simply their desire to be acknowledged as women.

Nonsense. If you believe in souls it’s ok to say so, but I don’t have to share your religious beliefs. I do t believe in souls myself.

I desire to be rather taller. I’m still short. How hard do I need to think to grow five cm? How hard do I need to believe to win the lottery?

A woman is an adult human female, of the class that produces ova. Humans can’t cjange sex. Magical thinking doesn’t change reality.

I still won't be eating it though. Relevance to current discussion should be fairly obvious.

So what does trans women rapist Karen White have in common with women that would make sense to put us in the same category?

Bowlofbabelfish · 14/12/2018 23:50

Definitely shortcrust. Is puff a thing? Heresy...

R0wantrees · 14/12/2018 23:50

O like Karen White.

& Jacinata Brooks

"A sex offender who claims to be transgender has been jailed for 11 years after pretending to be a boy to try and groom a girl. Jacinta Brooks, 41, asked a 12-year-old girl to send indecent pictures of herself – the third time she is known to have targeted children. Brooks, who identifies as a woman and was previously known as Duncan Smart, has previously faced the courts for having sex with someone who is underage and child abuse." (continues)

Bubonicpanic · 14/12/2018 23:50

Ah, he's explained. It is a male desire.

We have to accommodate male desire. If male desire means that we must see their genitals, that is compassionate.

We seem to be getting some where now.

Keep going.

HestiaParthenos · 14/12/2018 23:50

Creepy men who hit on me never seem to mind whether I desire to be acknowledged as woman by them. Hmm

AngryAttackKittens · 14/12/2018 23:51

I'll do you one better, I desire to not actually be any taller but to be able to reach things as if I were when it's convenient (so, to be height fluid). Maybe extendable arms and legs a la Elastagirl?

And male desire is more important than our right to speak truth, more important than the integrity of science, medicine and language and more important than women's privacy, dignity, safety, freedom of speech, freedom of association and representation.

Womantheonlykind · 14/12/2018 23:52

If I do shortcrust and put some nice pretty icing on it will it pass for puff pastry?

AngryAttackKittens · 14/12/2018 23:53

Icing? On mince pies? Sorry mate but that's just not on.

Womantheonlykind · 14/12/2018 23:54

But tesco do it and they are inclusive

Bowlofbabelfish · 14/12/2018 23:54

How does one live as a woman? how do women live? The only way my life differs from my husbands is the biological stuff. I gestated our children, for example. When you ask someone what living as a woman means, it’s a list of stereotypes. Dress, behaviour. But none of that is inherent to women, and you can’t change sex to do the biological stuff. So living as a woman? Meaningless.

So can humans change sex? Am I about to get someone, finally, who will say yes? This is momentous! How? How does it work? No waffle about breasts and hormones. I mean sex. How does a human change sex?

Womantheonlykind · 14/12/2018 23:54

Evidence!

AngryAttackKittens · 14/12/2018 23:55

Not of me they're not! I have a deep and abiding desire not to have any icing on my mince pies.

ClosdesMouches · 14/12/2018 23:55

Icing and puff pastry have no place anywhere near a mince pie. Shortcrust all the way.

And what's the deal with these chilli chocolate mince pies? Xmas Confused

Bowlofbabelfish · 14/12/2018 23:55

ICING on mince pies?

What the what now?

Womantheonlykind · 14/12/2018 23:56

whatthewhatnow? CHILLI?

AngryAttackKittens · 14/12/2018 23:56

Between that and the shop where the heating went out and they have employees sitting around shivering in fleeces because apparently replacing a part in the heating system is beyond their ability I'm side eyeing Tesco's so hard right now.

SanFranBear · 14/12/2018 23:57

Fucking hell - this thread has got my blood pressure up and I was just heading for bed.

I think I've discovered what it is to 'feel like a woman' though... I'm currently feeling angry, frustrated and immensely fucked off. Most women - you know, us cunty ones who are adult female humans - would feel that after the reams of shit that have been spouted on here.

Unless of course oh mighty man, you can explain better to me about what it is to feel like a woman...

And as a rape survivor, it is particularly crass to suggest it is purely the sight of a penis which has got us all of a flutter and so 'lacking in compassion'... It's what sexual predators DO with them which gives us serious concern. Do you have any idea what it's like to feel utterly powerless when someone stronger than you completely violates you in the worst way possible... do you? You try and fight back, you say no but it carries on regardless... you try and get away but their larger physique makes it impossible. Do you know what it's like to walk away from that, make peace with that and begin to trust again. Can you for even one second get it into your head that most women don't want to share their spaces with men for a multitude of reasons... sexual assault is not something that happens and you move on, it's not just bad sex or incompatibility, it fucking stays with you. Do you get it yet?

Of course you don't but I'm just being silly, dear, and alarmist, dear, and making shit up, dear. Could you be any more patronising? Just fuck off - I will fight to protect women and girls and I'm done being meek.
