She was talking about this just now on my way to work. The discussion started just after 8.30. A lot of opposition to people with penises in female prisons. It's a good job I was at traffic lights when she threatened to throw someone out of her studio for talking about "cis" women at the end of the debate. I gave her a round of applause for stating that there are transwomen and women and that transactivists don't get to change the language applied to women just because they want to change gender. Men and women are still men and women.

Yuck, cis is dreadful.

I saw this covered in the guardian.

Thingybob · 30/11/2018 09:32

She wants "none of that BBC claptrap in her studio" Well done JHB

JHB totally gets it.

scepticalwoman · 30/11/2018 09:36

Brilliant JHB. Let's get rid of this dreary fake definition.
Women and transwomen / transgender women. End of.

Popchyk · 30/11/2018 09:41

I'm guessing the police will be called for JHB threatening to throw someone out.

Cos it is literal violence innit?

Babdoc · 30/11/2018 09:48

Round of applause from me too. Such a relief when women’s concerns re safety and dignity are taken seriously by someone with a media profile who can get the message heard.
Did any of you hear Jeremy Vine’s slow “Ohhhhh” as the penny finally dropped, when a caller told him their female relative had been leered at naked in a prison communal shower by a naked “Karen” White, convicted rapist?
It’s so satisfying when the trendy woke brigade get a dose of cold hard reality!

TimeLady · 30/11/2018 09:49

Looks like she was talking to Richard Garside

Thanks for the link Thingybob
Well, that was a clear statement.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 30/11/2018 09:53

So where and when's the backlash?

I was parked at traffic lights laughing my head off and clapping as she got into full gallop getting odd looks from other drivers.
She's brilliant

AbsintheFriends · 30/11/2018 09:55

Bloody brilliant.

I love it that women are getting publicly angry about this - like shaking off the shackles of socialisation. Jane Garvey is still shackled by the BBC's wanky woke policy, but you can hear the anger in her voice too.

Agree with this wholeheartedly.

And more clear thinking straight forward women speaking out. Where are they all these days? There seems to be so much wafty thinking whataboutery around in politicians. We need evidence-based and proper evidence - not loads of pre-decided, language nudging, self-selected surveys.

RiverTam · 30/11/2018 10:01

I'm at work with no headphones - who used 'cis'?

IstanbulConstan · 30/11/2018 10:04

who used 'cis'?

A professional clown/joker.

Richard Garside:

I prefaced one of my remarks during this morning's interview with: "Because we're on the radio I can say something I'm no longer allowed to say on Twitter". Suspect it's not the only time I'll be saying that.

Hooray for JHB! I like a woman with a "take no shit" attitude.

uglyandlovingit · 30/11/2018 10:20

Excellent! Another shero! Take note Women's Hour!

silentcrow · 30/11/2018 10:24

That is some quality rage right there. And some real authority, too - she owns that studio and owns her opinion. Very good to see someone not gagged by their employer.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/11/2018 10:27

Does anyone have a link where I can listen to this please?

Datun · 30/11/2018 10:30

Excellent stuff. And Steve Allen tried to double down by saying how about if I say non-transwoman ?

At which point she had to say I'm quite serious, I will ask you to leave.

This is the meaning of power.

In a relatively rare situation, a woman had power over a man, and was able to stop him from forcing her to comply.

Datun · 30/11/2018 10:31

Bore

Use the link in the OP, it's the second or third tweet down. But it's only that bit.

Hopefully that will work Bore

Beagadorsrock · 30/11/2018 10:32

I'm in two minds - obviously cheering at the common sense of it, but JHB is (in my view) terrible on some other issues.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/11/2018 10:34

Thanks Flowers
