Julia HB Talk Radio this morning on transwomen in prisons

She was talking about this just now on my way to work. The discussion started just after 8.30. A lot of opposition to people with penises in female prisons. It's a good job I was at traffic lights when she threatened to throw someone out of her studio for talking about "cis" women at the end of the debate. I gave her a round of applause for stating that there are transwomen and women and that transactivists don't get to change the language applied to women just because they want to change gender. Men and women are still men and women.

Wow - love it! Also loved one of the replies - 'if you cut off an elephant's trunk, it's still an elephant'. Grin

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 30/11/2018 10:47

I love the bewilderment in his voice, as he tries to understand why he doesn't get to label her against her will.

IstanbulConstan · 30/11/2018 10:51

Someone should tweet this at him for his "Cis" clap trap.

If it was Steve Allen saying it, then he's actually in that Mash Report clip! He's sat next to her as she's saying it.

IstanbulConstan · 30/11/2018 11:00

Yes he is and that's why I suggested people tweet it to him and Julia.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 30/11/2018 11:02

It was Steve Allen - so, Steve, fuck off!

CecilyNeville · 30/11/2018 11:08

Ohhh silly me, I misunderstood you! Blush
I am a muppet.

Datun · 30/11/2018 11:08

Maybe Steve is just uninformed. It's entirely possible, because cis woman has gained a measure of traction.

Mumsnet were amongst the first to ban it I believe.

Still, now he knows.

And it was interesting, despite the Mash Report, how he didn't have the mental programming to shut the fuck up the first time Julia said no.

He still fondly imagined that her labels were his to determine.

That is up there with my favourites! Flowers WineCakeStarGinBrewJulia Hartley-Brewer!

Lets get it trending #IstandwithJulia

Wow :)

Yes, Datun, it is very interesting to see how the woke dudebro reacts when a woman actually demonstrates she has authority over him. He can’t quite comprehend it, can he?

I don’t believe he’s uninformed. He was very clearly coming from the TWAW angle: he was trying to imply we’re both subsets of the same overall group. No. Bollocks. Fuck off, Steve.

And I am now really a little bit in love with Julia HB (while knowing full well that there are undoubtedly things I disagree with her wildly on). She was just magnificent.

LikeDust · 30/11/2018 12:30

I think Julia Hartley-Brewer is being a fantastic role model there.

LangCleg · 30/11/2018 12:38

He still fondly imagined that her labels were his to determine.

Didn't he just? Gave yourself away there, Steve. Now fuck off and shut up.

hackmum · 30/11/2018 12:40

I didn't hear it, but it's great to hear a woman being forthright and authoritative about this. What I'm sick of in this debate is women being excessively polite and deferential - they are not polite to us, so why should we be polite to them? Good for Julia (even though I disagree with her about a whole load of other stuff!)

frogintheTyne · 30/11/2018 12:44

Gawd Julia, that was fab. really fab. I listened a bit open mouthed at how fab it was. wow.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 30/11/2018 12:54

Really quite cathartic to hear someone saying that without equivocation in a public forum.

Thanks Julia

Datun · 30/11/2018 13:00

Honestly, it would be comical, given the bloody mash report, if it wasn't so tragic.

He says cis woman.

Julia said no and explains why, at length.

He goes with the it's just the Latin opposite of trans.

She, again, says no, over and over.

So he says to blame the Romans. Supercilious, patronising git.

Again, she is saying no, absolutely not. So he says well I'll call you non trans then.

He'll call her 'not a man who identifies as a woman'.

Not only her, but every woman in the country. Does he realise what he is saying? Defining women as not a man who does something? Ffs.

She says if he carries on, she will ask him to leave.

And guess what? He carries on!

Bleating that he's just trying to separate the two groups.

By now she's spitting feathers saying no it's women and tranwomen (the 'you complete arrogant bellend' isn't at all silent).

So that's FIVE times trying to coerce his host to comply. Five times he ignores her. Five times his brain cannot compute that he doesn't, for once, have the power.

Until finally, it dawns on him that he is out the door unless he shuts up.

Ereshkigal · 30/11/2018 13:01

Julia Wine well said!

Datun · 30/11/2018 13:03

Oh, if that doesn't tell you why men, even or perhaps especially, the wokest, should have nothing to do with defining women's boundaries, I don't know what does.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 30/11/2018 13:15

Fuck off, Steve Allen, and take your woke bullshit with you.

FermatsTheorem · 30/11/2018 13:16

Hooray for Julia! That was magnificent.

And yy to everything in Datun's post.

nottakingthisanymore · 30/11/2018 13:19

Datum sums up beautifully again.

JHB if you are reading this THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM A WOMAN!

They can pick their labels so I’ll pick mine.

IstanbulConstan · 30/11/2018 13:23

He won't take No and is displaying corrosive control over the Language of another class, then he sits acting all smug on the Mash. Has anyone tweeted this thread to "fuck off" Steve, Julia, the Adult Human Female MP Wink and the Mash?

IstanbulConstan · 30/11/2018 13:26

Considering the BBC were bleating about corrosive control this week in the news, can we complain about their staff displaying that behaviour?
