Lily Madigan and the School Saga

Lily Madigan has been self-praising again, with more details about how they "sued" their school.

They hired a "team of solicitors", to "advice" Lily and the "principle" gave in on all their "demands".

The truth is slightly different.

Lily arrived at school wearing basically a boob tube. They were sent home because it was against uniform policy. Any girl wearing that for school would have been asked to change or go home. It's clear Lily was looking for a reason to kick things off.

Lily was not "made to wear a man's suit". They were asked to adhere to the school uniform - like any pupil. The girls wear a blazer too and can wear a skirt or trousers; many girls choose to wear trousers and the blazer.

Lily organised a petition. It was an ONLINE petition, quite different to a paper one. The support Lily claimed she had is very difficult to prove.

The school's staff tried very hard to placate Lily. They had meetings with their mother, the pastoral care team, etc - and got nowhere. It apparently caused distress to Lily's younger sister who was at school.

Lily contacted a solicitor in London. Because of the Equality Act the school did have to cater to transgender pupils - and when the school was informed of their obligations they changed their policy in accordance to the Act.

There was no suing of the school. There was no legal action, certainly no "legal battle", as Lily repeatedly claims.

There was no victimisation of Lily. Afterwards, the school said they had tried very hard for Lily and their words and actions had been deliberately twisted.

And now Lily still says that "they won", they "got it all", and that they did all this behind their parents' backs, and then "embarked on a media tour".

Lily's parents knew about it all, right from the day Lily was sent home.

It makes me furious that we are supposed to lie, to actually lie and type something that none of us believes, that i actually don’t even think the person discussed believes, or tie ourselves in linguistic knots to avoid it.
It it totally and utterly horrifying that as women we can’t even own the language used to describe us. That our tendency to try and be kind is used against us. This is all land grab, which is why I refuse to give any ground. I will not use the word she to describe any person who is not of the female sex.

gcscience · 29/12/2018 01:52

Clearly we'd appreciate an explanation @mumsnet

I don't- I use name, initials or 'they'.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 02/01/2019 17:05

I don't- I use name, initials or 'they'.

This. There was a time when I'd have used 'her' and not seen a problem. But now I can't. Because I do.

SirVixofVixHall · 02/01/2019 17:12

Agree Empress

Bluestitch · 02/01/2019 17:27

It's astonishing that Madigan's twitter is full of gay stuff

Yes it's almost as if the trans stuff isn't 'victimy' enough any more, and accusations of transphobia are becoming more and more meaningless so they've latched onto a new narrative. They are now the victim of homophobia (for being a heterosexual male). How many more protected identities does this individual intend to appropriate and why on earth are people validating this?

Madigan's Twitter is just a total car crash.

Made-up, false stories. Manic tweets on wildly different subjects. Talking about lovebites one minute, suicide the next, attention the next, then orchestrating - yet again - another Twitter mob attack on supposed "transphobia", trying to get women sacked.

IMO, UK Labour will not touch Madigan with a bargepole now. They are a one-trick pony. A self-confessed "agitator" who delights in stirring up trouble and strife. And nobody stays in touch with them. That's why they spent the Christmas period in halls, alone, tweeting and being manic.

I'm confused. Is Lily at York? Lily says:

.@UniOfYork this person employed by you bullies me relentlessly, mocks my gender identity and sexuality, all because I’m trans. I’m a 1st year and this type of behaviour obviously impacts my mental wellbeing.. please do something? People like them make me wish I wasn’t me anymore

SirVixofVixHall · 02/01/2019 20:25

I thought LM was at Goldsmiths .

dillydallyXX · 02/01/2019 20:41

Madigan is at Goldsmith's.

Madigan saw a critical tweet and noted that the Twitter handle stated that the person worked at York Uni. So, in Madigan's eyes, bingo. Next target. So Madigan writes a tweet playing the victim - this is a trick they've done multiple times now - and then gullible people fall for it and, voila, an orchestrated Twitter mob on this person to get them fired.

It's what Madigan gets off on.

SirVixofVixHall · 02/01/2019 21:27

So anyone who disagrees with LM should get fired ? I just don’t have the words for this. The egotism, the narcissism, the arrogance. How can anyone take this person seriously ? It is an embarrassment surely, to be associated with this type of personality ?

frazzled1 · 02/01/2019 21:44

York Uni FemSoc @YorkFemSoc just tweeted

To anyone thinking about replying to this post with something nasty about Lily: She has absolute support from us, a society that York just awarded society of the year in June. Stay away from this page with your toxic transphobia, it’s disgusting and there’s no place for you here.

A 'FemSoc' not so centred on females..... Hmm

andyoldlabour · 03/01/2019 08:23

In this tweet, LM in one of their replies to someone named Jasper, states that LM is partially sighted.

twitter.com/lesbianleftie/status/1020700811305906181?lang=en-gb

Someone named "MomentumSurbiton" goes on to reply - "Transwomen are more female, more feminine, more understanding of womanhood than anyone who's born a so called woman. Woman is an identity not a fact"

When is this complete madness going to stop, because if it isn't stopped, then how long before it is being taught at primary school level?

noraclavicle · 03/01/2019 08:25

MomentumSurbiton is a parody account...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/01/2019 08:42

Partially sighted? Really. Can still study, travel, drive (who knows)? We have spectacularly crap eyes in our family - actual registered disability - soI they can’t drive, read, in some cases work, can’t fucking see. But they work where they can, get on with life and don’t sit on the pity pony.

Bluestitch · 03/01/2019 08:51

Sounds like LM is collecting protected characteristics...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/01/2019 09:01

Are the also red haired? A bit deaf?

Knicknackpaddyflak · 03/01/2019 11:06

Honestly, to continue to look at and follow this is like continually going back to watching Blackadder II to study Elizabeth 1st for a serious history project and then getting frustrated and annoyed that it's still factually incorrect in every way and silly.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 04/01/2019 08:08

I’ve been having a poke about what passes for student feminist/women’s groups on twitter. They are very odd - all very ‘we are LGBT allies’ (but massively TTTTTTTTT), so me allies really, trying to be provocative (sex work is work) and rather stereotyped of women (quite backward thinking with regards to body image, actions, behaviour). It’s really weird.

No mentions of equality, salary unbalances, health issues, keeping safe - and very little use of the actual word ‘woman’ in the conventional way.

Who is running these accounts?🤔

sorenipples · 04/01/2019 10:36

The York one is very interesting. It had a break for a couple of years, and I thought there was a completely different tone/content between then and now. It makes me very uncomfortable that a student feminist organisation has such focus on validating sex work as a regular employment option.

andyoldlabour · 04/01/2019 11:19

@R0wantrees

Apparently it is now an academy (wasn't in my day many moons ago).

Regarding the matter of solicitor, some articles say that LM "scoured the streets of London", whereas this article says that LM used Google and came across Leigh Day Solicitors, who agreed to take the case on - pro bono.

dillydallyXX · 04/01/2019 12:47

Regarding the solicitor, it was Leigh Day.

1. Madigan's fake story
Madigan says they got a train to London all alone - so brave - and knocked on doors until a solicitor agreed to help. Then, a team of solicitors all began to work for Madigan and they sued the school. Madigan won and the school gave in on everything.

The truth:
Madigan emailed Leigh Day. They said the school was wrong in certain areas and said they would contact the school re: the Equalities Act. The school then said they would instigate a trans policy and had meetings with Madigan's mother. But Madigan spurned all help and just twisted everything. No suing. No legal action.

OP posts:
GiantKitten · 04/01/2019 13:13

The school was also trying to accommodate Madigan’s younger sister, who was very disturbed by what was going on.

Obv Madigan couldn’t care less about the sister’s feelings Hmm

Bluestitch · 04/01/2019 13:16

LM also through their brother under a bus when the old twitter account came to light, tried to blame him for it.
