Lily Madigan and the School Saga

Lily Madigan has been self-praising again, with more details about how they "sued" their school.

They hired a "team of solicitors", to "advice" Lily and the "principle" gave in on all their "demands".

The truth is slightly different.

Lily arrived at school wearing basically a boob tube. They were sent home because it was against uniform policy. Any girl wearing that for school would have been asked to change or go home. It's clear Lily was looking for a reason to kick things off.

Lily was not "made to wear a man's suit". They were asked to adhere to the school uniform - like any pupil. The girls wear a blazer too and can wear a skirt or trousers; many girls choose to wear trousers and the blazer.

Lily organised a petition. It was an ONLINE petition, quite different to a paper one. The support Lily claimed she had is very difficult to prove.

The school's staff tried very hard to placate Lily. They had meetings with their mother, the pastoral care team, etc - and got nowhere. It apparently caused distress to Lily's younger sister who was at school.

Lily contacted a solicitor in London. Because of the Equality Act the school did have to cater to transgender pupils - and when the school was informed of their obligations they changed their policy in accordance to the Act.

There was no suing of the school. There was no legal action, certainly no "legal battle", as Lily repeatedly claims.

There was no victimisation of Lily. Afterwards, the school said they had tried very hard for Lily and their words and actions had been deliberately twisted.

And now Lily still says that "they won", they "got it all", and that they did all this behind their parents' backs, and then "embarked on a media tour".

Lily's parents knew about it all, right from the day Lily was sent home.

Can we all back off a bit?

I dislike and worry about this picking through every detail of a disturbed adolescent's life. I thoroughly agree that this young person is doing harm, needs to grow up and shouldn't be in politics, but the excuse that they brought the scrutiny on themselves doesn't seem adequate.

This kid is the same age as my very troubled son (and reminds me of him sometimes). There's a real person below all the posturing and lols.

Kittie - this is an emotional appeal to kindness, which manipulates female socialisation.

I agree Lily is more of a passenger than a driver and I don't really comment often on threads about individuals because I'm more interested in structural than personal issues.

However, regardless of any issues they may or may not face, many women feel that Lily does things that are harmful and does not fare well if subjected to scrutiny. As someone intent on being a public figure, it is perfectly fair for that scrutiny to happen. Women doing it shouldn't be remonstrated with.

And that's probably the only thing I'll bother to say on the topic of Lily!

Discussing the harm LM does to women and to the Labour party seems fair. Discussing whether Lily is lying about a job/really had a pinafore stolen, though?

The usual stuff. Madigan "sued" the school. No, they didn't. Madigan continues to conflate the CLP Women's Officer post (that they lost, to the Uni one that they won in, having run unopposed).

The gym - and every single establishment in the land, for that matter - shout cater to Madigan's wishes and feelings and desires. Or else.

So madigan (or similar) rocks up to the gym and the poor receptionist has 2 choices:

Act as is they are male and risk being threatened with ‘I’ll have your job, you transphobe’, or
Act as if they are female and risk ‘how very dare you assume my gender!’ PLUS dealing with the many pissed off women complaining about the man in the ladies and having to say, deadpan ‘but that is a woman’, ‘yes I know she has testicles but she is a woman’.

Poor bastards.

According to Madigan, trans people are automatically working class, so it is a class issue. And if a transwoman looks very masculine and not feminine at all - I think Madigan is sensitive here because of their features - then this is a class issue, because poor working-class transwomen can't afford make-up and good lippy.

"Munroe Bergdorf" was on GMB about the whole 'womxn' thing and said it's just a way of being inclusive, and about making sure trans people feel welcome. But it's just about diluting what a woman actually is/means.

It's the exact same tactics Jeremy Corbyn used about the Holocaust Memorial Day. He wanted to rename it, to make it about other genocides etc. All to dilute the meaning and, ultimately, to reduce its potency.

I think LM was telling a whopping great porkie pie, then when asked if they really did have access to membership data realised it was a very, very dodgy thing to claim, so backed off with the bizarre "Nah, don't need it..."

LM also has tweeted list of 37 of LM's accomplishments for 2018. These include learning about makeup; being on teen Vogue list of important people under 21; going (by jet) to LA (twice!) while also becoming "woke about climate crisis"; becoming friends with a supermodel; appearing "in lots of fashion magazines"; having lots of "great photos taken of me"; staying "in some really fancy hotels"; finally starting to be paid for LM's "activism"; & no longer having to pay for clothes (presumably because PUMA & fashion houses now dress LM for free due to LM's celeb status).

Reading the list, it's hard to believe this person claims to be a hard-core socialist & ardent prole. Sounds exactly like a Kardashian capitalist totally into the pursuit of fame, fashion, superficiality, materialism, money & personal aggrandizement.

Then again, I did overlook a couple of LM's other self-proclaimed accomplishments for the year, such as getting "loud", "confident" & "proud" (listed as three separate achievements), as well as "doing sports" (watch out Martina, LM might be muscling in on your turf next!), learning to code, "inspiring girls to get political" & - here comes a total bald-faced whopper - "was elected as a Labour Party women’s officer again".

If there are an yLabour Party members on MN, they might make a formal complaint about LM having access to this kind of data.

I thought that Madigan meant that the comments had been written by some one at Labour HQ as a short form for reason for resignation.

It's terrible that this extremely devious person gets away with such behaviour - and nothing happens.

Madigan has cleverly played the trans card to give themselves protected status. And now they are building a media profile/platform.

To those who say "oh poor fragile LM" & LM is young so should be treated with kid gloves: Sorry, but LM is not a passive, downtrodden victim, nor is LM a child. LM is a legally-adult male supremacist old enough to vote & participate in politics who has actively (some would say cynically) jumped on the trans bandwagon, appropriated womanhood & hijacked both feminism & lesbianism to become a public figure (Twitter handle "lesbianleftie" no less). And LM has consistently used LM's platform & public-figure status to spread lies, abuse, misogyny & to advocate for the revocation of girls' & women's rights.
