Lily Madigan and the School Saga

Lily Madigan has been self-praising again, with more details about how they "sued" their school.

They hired a "team of solicitors", to "advice" Lily and the "principle" gave in on all their "demands".

The truth is slightly different.

Lily arrived at school wearing basically a boob tube. They were sent home because it was against uniform policy. Any girl wearing that for school would have been asked to change or go home. It's clear Lily was looking for a reason to kick things off.

Lily was not "made to wear a man's suit". They were asked to adhere to the school uniform - like any pupil. The girls wear a blazer too and can wear a skirt or trousers; many girls choose to wear trousers and the blazer.

Lily organised a petition. It was an ONLINE petition, quite different to a paper one. The support Lily claimed she had is very difficult to prove.

The school's staff tried very hard to placate Lily. They had meetings with their mother, the pastoral care team, etc - and got nowhere. It apparently caused distress to Lily's younger sister who was at school.

Lily contacted a solicitor in London. Because of the Equality Act the school did have to cater to transgender pupils - and when the school was informed of their obligations they changed their policy in accordance to the Act.

There was no suing of the school. There was no legal action, certainly no "legal battle", as Lily repeatedly claims.

There was no victimisation of Lily. Afterwards, the school said they had tried very hard for Lily and their words and actions had been deliberately twisted.

And now Lily still says that "they won", they "got it all", and that they did all this behind their parents' backs, and then "embarked on a media tour".

Lily's parents knew about it all, right from the day Lily was sent home.

We're all happy enough to see someone such as Malala Y getting university offers and so on. And not just because she seems to be an exceptional young woman, who survived an attack that was made because she advocated education for girls. So " perceived merit " uni places are OK. The problem in the case of Lily M is that it is hard to see any such personal or intellectual aspects in her.

I've been doing a bit of research.. the easy way with cups of tea and the internet... and I've decided that not all the stories about her quite pan out. Enough do to make her a distrusted and ( frankly) resented person, but she seems to have become a target for whatever stories people can dream up, justified, or not.

So other stories slip under the radar. Could the Labour Party be grateful that she is so high profile, and other things don't get into the press?

Cynical old soul, me.

IAmNotInvisible · 02/12/2018 00:51

I have coffee KayM2, idly surfing.

Feeling very sorry for poor Lily. Called out on twitter earlier this year after using the phrase "are they blind" and it turns out Lily is partially sighted too.

The list of health issues for one so young is heartbreaking.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 02/12/2018 06:59

I remember Madigan tweeting about some sort of disability which made it difficult for h** to stand for long periods of time. Then there was thee claim of autism. And now a visual impairment!

I wonder what the next reveal will be.

hackmum · 02/12/2018 07:23

Olennas - yes, that’s exactly what I mean. It’s only a useful strategy until lots of Russell group unis start doing it, though. I don’t know what happens then!

And at the other end, quite a few former polys are using unconditional offers out of sheer desperation.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 02/12/2018 09:21

Malala had a 3 A offer, which she achieved, and a mixture of A and A* GCSEs.
Just in case anyone was under the impression she had been given special treatment.

VickyEadie · 02/12/2018 09:25

Yes, I was puzzled about the reference to Malala as I knew she had excellent grades.

KayM2 · 02/12/2018 09:55

Re Malala;

Oops; I didn't know that she had those grades. Or if I ever did I had forgotten. Thanks for that info. I was just making a general point about Unis being free to use their discretion in exceptional cases.

I'd assumed that Malala had been offered a place for her perceived, and 100% genuine, merits. Briefly, I was in danger of creating a new urban legend!

SlightAggrandising · 02/12/2018 10:52

Malala with the Nobel prize Malala?

RedToothBrush · 02/12/2018 11:01

LM said earlier in the year that they were applying outside the normal application process because they were using life experience rather than academic qualifications for their application.

Still begs the question as to whether Lily will be able to keep up with others on the course to me.

KayM2 · 02/12/2018 11:14

S-A; yes, Nobel Malala. I had thought she had been awarded an Oxbridge place on stuff like that, ( which would be fine) but I was ill -informed.

RTB; Yes, you'd wonder, wouldn't you? Especailly as LM does not seem to be a " head down concentrate with no diversions plodder", as far as we can tell.

Though as I said earlier, she does seem to have attracted a few stories that may not well based on the truth.

It would be hard to think of a made up story about her which would not be believed, would it?

Lily M. ordained in USA based " on line" ministry.
Lily M. elopes.
Lily M. in fist fight with Leader of the House
Lily M announces ambition to be Speaker of the Commons.
Lily M says sorry I was an arse.

One of these is less plausible than the others, though.

OlennasWimple · 02/12/2018 11:56

Well, quite RTB. Especially while gallivanting to LA during term time

I expect that if LM does not pas the first year, it will be due to the sheer bigotry and transphobia of the lecturers, applying their cis heteronormative ideals to the requirement that students meet a minimum standard

Or summat

BettyDuMonde · 02/12/2018 11:57

It’s very hard to be classified as ‘partially sighted’ in the U.K. - I would qualify in other European countries where they have an actual number system, based on spectacle prescription - here it is based on quality of life, so really you have to have a condition that cannot be improved via glasses/contacts.

Seems unlikely that LM truly is partially sighted. Short sighted when it comes to making excuses for oneself, sure.

dillydallyXX · 02/12/2018 12:00

In the tweet thread about being partially sighted, someone said that most "trans lesbians" are dating other "transwomen". And Lily replied "Same".

So, doesn't that back up what many NHS gender specialists have said? That it's really same-sex sexuality. And this also backs up many comments about Lily, that one day she may desist and live life as a homosexual man.

She’s got so many health problems for someone so young. Very unfortunate.

OlennasWimple · 02/12/2018 14:37

She’s got so many health problems for someone so young. Very unfortunate.

And yet is bravely - and stunningly - managing to get on with living a very full life, including litigation, globe trotting and getting women sacked when they say nasty words. Truly an inspiration for our times

OlennasWimple · 02/12/2018 14:43

I'm also heartened to see LM tweeting about the threat of climate change, and the need to take action to tackle it:

"Increasing public transport usage should be a priority to reduce the amount of pollution from cars. Climate change is an imminent threat. Unsurprisingly, the Tories aren’t listening. We really don’t have time for this.."

And am in no way rolling my eyes at the fact that the above tweet is directly preceded by one showing LM's boarding card for a long haul flight from LGW to LAX for a three day visit

Maybe climate change science isn't transphobic and the fuel used by planes carrying LM magically turns into non-harmful discharge

NotANotMan · 02/12/2018 14:51

LM gets a pass on doing whatever LM wants to do, whether that's using language like 'are you blind' (I'm partially sighted) keeping a £400 gift whilst begging for money (I might faint) and flying cross the Atlantic whilst calling for climate change to be addressed (umm no idea what this excuse would be but there will be one)

dillydallyXX · 02/12/2018 15:16

Maybe I'm just naive, but I genuinely can't believe how people are taken in by Lily.

The lies are constant - and so obvious to see. There is one attack after another on people who are supposedly "transphobic" to her. None of her family want anything to do with her. She was a Women's Officer and did nothing at all. Everywhere she goes there is trouble. No wonder when she calls herself an "agitator". But people are taken in.

I think a lot of men are just enjoying showing that they will support a man this hopeless over a competent woman. It's very 'know your place, vagina-havers.'

KayM2 · 02/12/2018 15:35

D-D;You are right; the lies are constant. Perhaps the L.P are hoping she will go away, without alienating young voters by being seen as " transphobic? But it IS a mystery, and an embarrassment for those of us who are LP members and / transgender.

A "visual impairment"? So how come she not only never wears glasses, but is never seen to squint at anything?
I've had eyesight problems almost since birth (severe hyperobia, plus retinal scarring from having measles as a baby). I was wearing glasses at only four years old, struggled to see clearly, and squinted with my weaker eye so much that I can shut it independently. Since I can get by with prescription glasses, I'm not classified as partially sighted.
So I think there's a teensy-weensy bit of exaggeration going on here!

KayM2 · 02/12/2018 18:11

Grumpygran; my prescription described exactly, same cause. A kind optician told me a few years ago that with my eyes I would always have been hopelessly bad at ball games. And I had been .

My eyes were described by a tactless optician many years ago as " nearly blind in one eye...." and like you, I do not count as having a visual impairment in official "registered" terms.

It is just old Lily, at it again, isn't it?

BeUpStanding · 02/12/2018 18:58

SlightAggrandising Malala is an absolutely extraordinary young woman isn't she. Have you read her book? Her intelligence and compassion shines through. Comparing her, in any way, to LM is grossly offensive.
