Lily Madigan and the School Saga

Lily Madigan has been self-praising again, with more details about how they "sued" their school.

They hired a "team of solicitors", to "advice" Lily and the "principle" gave in on all their "demands".

The truth is slightly different.

Lily arrived at school wearing basically a boob tube. They were sent home because it was against uniform policy. Any girl wearing that for school would have been asked to change or go home. It's clear Lily was looking for a reason to kick things off.

Lily was not "made to wear a man's suit". They were asked to adhere to the school uniform - like any pupil. The girls wear a blazer too and can wear a skirt or trousers; many girls choose to wear trousers and the blazer.

Lily organised a petition. It was an ONLINE petition, quite different to a paper one. The support Lily claimed she had is very difficult to prove.

The school's staff tried very hard to placate Lily. They had meetings with their mother, the pastoral care team, etc - and got nowhere. It apparently caused distress to Lily's younger sister who was at school.

Lily contacted a solicitor in London. Because of the Equality Act the school did have to cater to transgender pupils - and when the school was informed of their obligations they changed their policy in accordance to the Act.

There was no suing of the school. There was no legal action, certainly no "legal battle", as Lily repeatedly claims.

There was no victimisation of Lily. Afterwards, the school said they had tried very hard for Lily and their words and actions had been deliberately twisted.

And now Lily still says that "they won", they "got it all", and that they did all this behind their parents' backs, and then "embarked on a media tour".

Lily's parents knew about it all, right from the day Lily was sent home.

I think what Lily means is that Lily can not get a high profile, highly paid job. This may be because employers discriminate against individuals with no skills or experience versus those who do.

Lily may believe that Lily is special and can bypass getting experience. Employees may not hold the same view.

AngryAttackKittens · 29/11/2018 09:24

I'd think having sued your school might also give many potential employers cause for concern.

dillydallyXX · 29/11/2018 09:27

But isn't Lily unemployable?

Her Twitter is a total car crash, her history would send any employer running a mile. All she can do is live in this flaky, twilight world of "trans celebrity".

Her ambition was to be a Labour MP, but I think even Labour now would look at all the history and think "No way". It would be a trainwreck.

Its also possible that Lily has chosen to apply for jobs that Lily associates with 'being female'.
Given Lily's keeness to work with Women's services/ helplines and 'spend time talking to victims of rape', one can only begin to imagine.

Maybe the time spent in LA & working with Teen Vogue has prompted a wish to work in fashion. (that was Lily's college course I think?)

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/11/2018 09:37

Well yes they have brought this all on themselves.

All the offensive tweets and racism and legal action and naming and shaming businesses and people.

Can not believe people believe it's the trans status and donate money to them...

I worry about the intelligence of future generations

dillydallyXX · 29/11/2018 09:41

But it says that this "transition fund" is managed solely by one Lily Madigan.

Can anybody truly say that Lily comes across as a solid, trustworthy person? Who's to say she will spend the money how she sees fit. Maybe she will use it for a holiday and justify it by saying it's for "self-care" and her "mental health" because of "transphobic attacks".

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/11/2018 09:44

Well yes they will have another "Twitter break" go on holiday post sone shut abiut a Dr refusing to do the surgery it it being a 5 year waiting list
And still everyone be like..

"Oh hun that takes the piss so sorry. Much love"

Erm they"re spending your hard earned cash on holidays and days out and lying to you fuck wits

dillydallyXX · 29/11/2018 09:49

This "medical transition fund" already has 20 contributions, and over £500 donated.

So there are 20 gullible fools taken in by Lily's machinations. Oh dear.

Just because Lily now says the fund is for FFS doesn't mean that it will be used for FFS.

I can't help agreeing with those that say that LM would be perfectly employable, transgender or not. In certain jobs , at certain levels. She doesn't have the qualifications/. experience to do " better jobs". Isn't she still a student, anyway?

Some jobs are very much open to transgender people. The NHS will employ, readily. And the charities. I did jobs for Sense and Mencap after retirement, and found that though I announced that I was TS at the end of the interview, got the offers. It ticks "boxes" for human resources.

Plenty of other employers, in a competitive interview situation, though, people need to reduce the long list to a short list, etc, and anything " untypical " can get binned; it is a bold thing, isn't it, to employ someone who looks like " a possible risk". I once binned an application from a TS woman, because her application form looked patchy. Felt bad, felt I had to bin it.

And people can google these days. LM might have a problem because of her notoriety, you'd think. Tough. Plenty of better qualified young people are having to do "mundane " jobs these days.

Ereshkigal · 29/11/2018 11:26

AFAIK Madigan only started at Goldsmiths this academic year, so has years to go. When I was a student I had a Saturday job in Ladbrokes. It didn't have the glamour that I imagine would be required.

KayM2 · 29/11/2018 11:31

Good point about the required glamour!

Fashion degree? Very competitive, huge demands in the work load. Lets see if she stays the course. It might do wonders for her, we can only hope.

VickyEadie · 29/11/2018 11:35

LM isnt doing a fashion degree...

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 29/11/2018 11:35

Hmm LM's changed LM's twitter bio to include:

1st trans woman 2 b a @UKLabour women's officer (2017 - now).

TinselAngel · 29/11/2018 11:44

Students need Apple watches in case they fall over and pass out now? What, like those alarm bracelets old people can have?

TinselAngel · 29/11/2018 11:47

In my student days, falling over and passing out was like a badge of honour!

Grauniad · 29/11/2018 11:58

Kiddo needs to sell the watch and eat more.

Having an emergency watch in case of fainting is not a sensible set of priorities.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/11/2018 12:03

Sounds like a social media campaign

‘I need my Apple Watch because...’
