Good old Emile. Until I saw his name cropping up last week (there aren't too many people named "Ratelband", so I realised it was him straight away) I hadn't seen or heard about him for some time. Though I've been away from NL for nearly 17 years, of course.
He was a fastfood business owner, became Neurolinguistic Programming guru (famed for making people walk over glowing coals) and motivational speaker. A bit of a grifter and bullshit artist, to be fair.
I don't think he's making a point in the GC debate, to be honest, but he's jumping on the bandwagon to see if there's something in it for him. After a 'dry spell' getting back into the public eye again.
It's funny, we often felt his name was made up, but it doesn't appear to be the case. Name suits him, though 'ratel' (as 'rattle' or to speak quickly and incessantly) and 'band' (ribbon or band).
Dunno how good his English is, I tend to feel a bit cringy listening to people like him so will not be listening.
