Looks like some of the unpleasant Lewisham Momentum based chums of LM have had a big spat with a housemate.

Apparently this now has something to do with LM and them supporting her for woman's officer, and they are blaming Te*fs.

Okay hands up... which mumsnetter has been breaking and entering in Lewisham. Come on own up.

This latest drama has been brought to you by Dr Haddock and the over sensitive flowers!

Somebody in the X Party should have got a grip on this situation a long time ago.°

Also politics in 2018. Insert any party in US, UK, Canada and beyond.

RedToothBrush · 13/11/2018 08:35

Oh we are onto the legal threats again are we? Trump likes that too.

He reaches for the lawyer telephone when he realises he's gone too far, has broken the law and is getting pulled up on it.

Except its just a way of trying to see off a genuine legal case against him through intimidation and making it expensive to challenge him.

Which generally works sadly.

Fascinating.

FekkoThePenguin · 13/11/2018 08:46

How many students have a lawyer? How many grown ups have a lawyer? I thought it was only on TV that people say 'I'm counting my lawyer'.

Ringbinger · 13/11/2018 08:48

I am so angry. Stereotypical narcissistic bullying male behaviour of making emotive and unsubstantiated comments, but presenting them as FACT, complete with some snide gloating, and then when called out on erroneous details and bullying, goes on the defensive attack and doesn’t address anything they said that was wrong.

And the 2018 snowflake version of this is crying mental health issues as a way of saying “back off bully bitches with your critical thinking and facts”. I can well believe LM has mental health issues, although not the ones LM probably thinks they have, but they’re suddenly depressed and vulnerable? What, because someone isn’t swallowing the shit they’re spewing and putting them up on a unicorn pedestal and throwing instagrammable, upper class model-led celebratory picnics in their honour?

What about Morgan’s mental health? Or career? Oh but of course she doesn’t account, given she’s not an ally.

Talk about the Emperor’s New Ben Sherman Trousers.

BettyDuMonde · 13/11/2018 08:48

Maybe LM’s ‘lawyer’ is the one with multiple names and even more companies, as discussed elsewhere on the board at present?

Perhaps Dr H introduced them?

FekkoThePenguin · 13/11/2018 08:51

Interesting R4 bit about women having higher empathy in a study. Hmmmm.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 13/11/2018 08:59

I’ve just listened to Simon B-C and I was shouting ‘fucking conditioning, that’s why!’

Girls are RAISED to be empathetic and to be the caretakers of men. Ridiculous study.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/11/2018 09:00

Emperor's New Pinafore?

FekkoThePenguin · 13/11/2018 09:04

I'm naturally very nice. I just self ID as a bitch 9-5 Monday to Friday.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 13/11/2018 09:05

Simon Baron-Cohen has built a whole career on brain differences in autism, so, he's kind of biased.

Absolute bollocks. "Self survey shows that societal expectations of people because of their sex are common" would be the logical conclusion from that study.

VickyEadie · 13/11/2018 09:09

vivarium

Wrong thread there, I think!

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 13/11/2018 09:14

Ah, no, he was on R4 this morning, mentioned a couple of messages up, warbling on about sex differences in brains.

Which he, and the TA, really want to be a thing.

I don't think his massive study (700k people, so, an amazing bit of work) will stand up to peer review - sex differences in brains are not a thing, social conditioning is. I think. Based on my n=1 study of me. willing to concede that SBC knows a lot more about brains and stuff than me

Ringbinger · 13/11/2018 09:17

VickyEadie right thread, I think. Vibarium was responding to comments above about Simon Baron-Cohen’s discussion of a study on R4 this morning.

Anyway when it comes to empathy, surely this is the one quality that unequivocally makes LM a woman - her empathy for others is STUNNING.

RedToothBrush · 13/11/2018 09:25

I read that as 'Sasha Baron-Cohen has built a whole career on brain differences'

Sorry.

Somehow Sasha feels more relevant to the thread.

AngryAttackKittens · 13/11/2018 09:27

Oh, if only Sasha had the backbone to take on TRAs. There's an infinite supply of material!

sashh · 13/11/2018 09:51

I also read it as Sasha, realised it wasn't and then wished he would do something.

Flashingbeacon · 13/11/2018 11:08

This has been a great and needed distraction this morning. I come from a long line of student politics (not me, I was in the pub) and have to say they’d be baffled by this.
1 defended themselves to their party after being arrested attempting to destroy the symbol of the oppressors (with explosives). That didn’t warrant an expulsion from the party. I’m surprised they haven’t risen from the dead Dracula style when this happened.
There are rules and procedures to follow, why aren’t they being followed?
And an illegal sublet for £500 for part of a room?! What leftist Labour Party principle is this?
And no working class person has a solicitor!
And not having any stuff making you working class is massive over simplification. Presumably Prince George is working class?
I can still sing the red flag do I really need to get involved ugh.
My last ranting point. The Labour Party members I know were fierce defenders of women. How fierce? Campainging for women’s pensions, first women to wear trousers to work (yes really, was disciplined and everything), protesting sex offenders being allowed to keep their jobs (they were called playboys back then) and so much more.
The Labour Party has strayed far from the path.

WomanOfTime · 13/11/2018 11:47

If I hadn't just witnessed such vindictive behaviour I'd feel sorry for her.

I felt sorry for Lily the first time that Lily took a Twitter break for mental health reasons. But it happens often, usually after Lily has been caught out lying, and sometimes the break lasts all of 12 hours.

Lily would just like a chorus of 'u ok hun?' and being told that Lily is stunning and brave and that working-class and/or middle-aged women are all big old terf meanies for pointing out the lies.

Ringbinger · 13/11/2018 12:06

Interesting how when Lily discloses her bad mental health, she never does so as a way of explaining why she’d made ill-judged and emotive comments. No, it’s all about how she’s too vulnerable to be questioned.

KatVonGulag · 13/11/2018 12:58

makemorenoisemanc.wixsite.com/mysite/mmnblog/she-is-a-terf-and-she-did-it

djlippy Has done an excellent article on the full story (minus trousers, young ones etc). Obviously the live action thread was interesting but confusing and that article sums everything up brilliantly.

@WomanOfTime Spot on!

Each time Madigan is caught lying or orchestrating an attack on women - it's never an attack on men, is it? - they suddenly take a Twitter break and talk about the need to self-care and look after their mental health.

Madigan learnt this tactic from their friend Adrie Van De Meer who did exactly the same when he was caught spreading bile.

BlooperReel · 13/11/2018 14:38

Those are some weak arse students, heaves bosom, clears throat back in my day, student parties went on until at least 5am, and only stopped when building management in my halls of residence cut the electricity to our flat.

How LM has managed to make it all about them, warrants an award for the leaps, bounds and mental gymnastics.

dillydallyXX · 13/11/2018 14:49

I guess it's the so-called Igeneration.

They are very forthright and assertive on their social media, but when they have to interact with real people in a real-life setting they are awkward and insecure.

Madigan was online saying they were going to reclaim their Women's Position and being gung-ho, but people who were at the Lewisham vote say that when Madigan spoke they were mumbling, bad at communication and ill at ease.

Ringbinger · 13/11/2018 14:57

Ah that reminds me of the student party my friends threw, circa 1993, which was still going on at 5am despite paramedics having to walk past us dancing to get to my mate X who had broken his leg from jumping off the 2nd floor patio after taking some magic mushrooms. He was dressed as a gladiator at the time as it was a Halloween party.

Oh god that’s inadvertently given me unwanted images of LM dressed as a “sexy cat” after musing what their Halloween costume would be.

Bittermints · 13/11/2018 15:47

Name change here. I live not too far from Goldsmith's. There are no doubt plenty of affluent kids there, but it also attracts lots of young people from SE London who want to stay at home, be near to family and friends, carry on with their jobs to pay their way through. I'm indignant on their behalf that the reputation of their college is being badly hit by the actions of these snowflakes, and it's not their fault.

As for Labour, well, this sort of idiocy goes some way to explain why at a time when we have one of the worst governments in history the official opposition is four points behind in the polls. I wouldn't trust Corbyn to run a whelk stall, far less the country. The Labour Party is an absolute shambles. The treatment of Venice Allan and Jennifer James is in very stark contrast to the continued indulgence of petulant, flaky young people like Madigan. We desperately need the grown ups to find a backbone and say enough is enough. We need leadership over the Brexit debacle and we need MPs to say that identity politics has gone far too far and won't go any further.
