Just been talking to some med students home for the holidays, and the topic got onto misuse of social media. I suggested they might like to look up Adies twitter. Turns out that his name already cropped up in their lecture on use of social media and professional behaviour.

Sad really. All that training and a solid professional future. Why?

As a cautionary tale? If so, and Harrop is being used as teaching material of how not to behave (I know this hasn't been confirmed) then how on earth can he still be practising?

I have no idea whether his name was mentioned by the lecturer or by a student (one with a MN GC mum perhaps), simply that when I suggested they google Dr Adrian Harrop, they all knew his name and were aware of his Twitter feed.

Not a good if this familiarity is replicated across UK medical schools, or amongst his colleagues. Essentially it makes his, and the GMCs position difficult as it suggests he is impacting on the reputation of his profession.

Ive sent my reply to the gmc, thanks for the reminder ladies. I didn't have anything new to add but since they'd (finally) replied to my email complaint I thought I'd best reply.

I wonder how many others, when mixing with extended family, who happen to be in the medical profession, over Christmas will mention Harrop.

I hadn’t realised that anyone suggesting Mermaids should be carefully observed before being given half a million pounds also felt that that money should not be going anywhere near children struggling with gender dysphoria. Same way that all those selfish women who didn’t like being called ‘bleeders’ never do, say or give money in support for people who have periods and refugees. Lucky that we simple minded people have AH to frame everything as a binary choice: good/bad, giving money without question/taking all money away from support for trans people.

Surely anyone who claims to be a decent human being actually isn't? Actual decent human beings just are, they dont' go around proclaiming it

In fact, the 'I'm a decent human being' trope is often seen used by incels in their videos made just before whatever atrocities they tend to commit.

Information was to be in to the GMC by 20 December. I would hope there would be a result in January or February

The email reply I got was that my info had been added to a file which would now go to the assistant registrar for consideration. I very much doubt it will be completed in Jan, they will need to be thorough and investigate every allegation

Re. Harrops tweet. I'm struggling to reconcile how a doctor can honestly claim to be a medical professional while defending an organisation who have been recorded making the claim (paraphrasing) sex is a spectrum because clownfish.
