There will be a discussion of gender dysphoria. The Twitter grapevine says that Transgender Trend will be represented.

Thanks.
I wonder if my blood pressure can stand this after the last debate where Dr Nic was allowed a "quick word."

naivetyisthenewblack · 29/10/2018 09:30

Excellent! Will be tuning in...

Knicknackpaddyflak · 29/10/2018 09:54

It's the BBC, so from bitter experience I'm stuck in a severely negative place of wanting to set bets on it being three quarters of the time dedicated to pro self ID voices, which will be heavily dominated by male born people, the presenter using her special, soft voice to them, a number of incorrect facts presented while actual relevant facts are strictly withheld, and some poor GC woman doing her best while not being allowed a word in edgewise and being constantly interrupted.

Verdict will be: there is no such thing as ROGD, it's just a mean spirited myth created by mean people, like male violence, sex offenders, safeguarding breaches, APG, biology and the truth.

Please BBC, prove me wrong!!

yetanotherusernameAgain · 29/10/2018 10:03

yetanotherusernameAgain · 29/10/2018 10:22

Started now.

Bonions · 29/10/2018 10:23

Stephanie David-Arai will be featured, which is encouraging.

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2018 10:25

Assigned FFS

Bonions · 29/10/2018 10:25

Jane Garvey trying to clarify the "assigning of gender" rather than observing of sex.

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2018 10:25

Garvey challenges this

concretesieve · 29/10/2018 10:26

Excellent email from a GCer

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 29/10/2018 10:26

I think this discussion is heading towards the fact that gender identity is influenced by socialisation and narrow stereotypes!

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2018 10:27

Garvey read out a Twitter comment re gender stereorypes and girls expected to be preened and plucked.

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2018 10:27

Transman on now

Robbabank · 29/10/2018 10:27

I'm listening too!

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2018 10:28

Says was 4 when told mom they were trapped in girl's body.

Bonions · 29/10/2018 10:29

The person presenting AFAB/AMAB has acknowledged that "the world seems to be getting more binary than less binary"

there is a reliance on stereotypes [paraphased] -"what is expected from females and what is expected from males"

"but it is a hypothesis." [that this is having an impact on ROGD]

Bonions · 29/10/2018 10:30

Jane Garvery asks tranman whether they could be a gay woman

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2018 10:30

Got teased for looking like a boy.

'Transed' at 19

Was it suggested Lewis was a gay girl?

Lewis is attracted to girls.

"My body did not feel right."

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2018 10:30

"My brain was male"

Bonions · 29/10/2018 10:31

"Male brain not matching with male body" is what the transman (missed the name!) puts forward for their transition.

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2018 10:32

Tom boys can explore their gender id more. Societ accepts boyish girls more...

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 29/10/2018 10:32

Aaaargh that fucking word 'tomboys'... Angry

He's just buying into stereotypical behaviours & societal expectations.

HandsOffMyRights · 29/10/2018 10:32
