Sorry if this has already been posted but I saw this from Herts Police FFS!

They are asking for victims of historic sexual abuse to come forward, yet colluding in the fallacy that this man is female Confused Angry

Hopefully not. Cooper was formerly at Patkhurst which is a male prison. Disgusting specimen.

thereallochnessmonster · 24/10/2018 06:37

Parkhurst

SymphonyofShadows · 24/10/2018 06:39

There is one lone TRA voice on the Herts Police FB page screaming that the comments are transphobic, but they are pissing in the wind.

Sorry, I would have linked but I'm not sure how on my phone.

Yes, i’ve seen the comments. Everyone is saying the same thing. Why are Herts Police referring to Cooper as a woman? Why not a trans woman??

DryHeave · 24/10/2018 07:03

How refreshing to see non-woke Facebook. However, I’m concerned how they are going to protect the women this sexual offender is going to be locked up with.

Gentlygently · 24/10/2018 07:16

Hmmm. And if a visually impaired person reads that page (with screen reader technology), they are going to have no clue this offender is a male, are they. All the news outlets are saying ‘transgender woman’ and ‘formerly known as’.

thereallochnessmonster · 24/10/2018 07:20

@DryHeave (nice!), Cooper is currently serving a sentence at Parkhurst. I can’t imagine he’ll be moved to a women’s prison.

Floisme · 24/10/2018 07:26

Will it go on the stats as a female crime? This is possibly the thing that worries me most of all - that male violence will literally be wiped from the record.

donajimena · 24/10/2018 07:34

I read the comments. Bless the one trying to defend the perpetrator.

GCAcademic · 24/10/2018 08:07

Yes, it will. One imagines a point in the future, under self-ID, where the majority of rapes will be committed by “women”.

This is such an important point which has not been made often enough.

olderthanyouthink · 24/10/2018 08:37

I'd never thought of the people who CAN'T SEE THE BLOODY PHOTOS!

Ideally the alt tag for the photo would describe the person in the photo including things like they have an Adam's apple. Wouldn't be noticed by many.

ijustwannadance · 24/10/2018 09:45

Could someone do a click link please?

yetanotherusernameAgain · 24/10/2018 10:01

There was a thread about this yesterday. I'll see if I can find it.

I think the clue to this person being a man (other than the photo) is the inclusion of the fact about them formerly being in HMP Parkhurst, which some posters pointed out is a prison for men. Is it usual for the police to name an offender's previous prison? I wonder if they did it deliberately.

So far I can only see the Daily Mail having reported on the sentencing. Other outlets reported on the guilty verdict in September.

Seven and a half years added to the existing sentence. Ministry of Justice to decide which prison.

SockEatingMonster · 24/10/2018 10:26

Putting the trans issue completely to one side, would the police not usually list any former names a suspect had been known by? I thought that was normal practice?

R0wantrees · 24/10/2018 10:35

Reporting this male's crimes as being committed by a woman also adds weight to the TRA argument discussed in current thread as people's perception is that such crimes are being committed by adult human females.

OP BlardyBlar wrote:

"I was trying to think of an analogy to the argument that transwomen should be placed in women’s prison as “some women are also sexual abusers too.”

That is basically saying “We can’t keep women wholly safe in prison, therefore we are justified in removing steps that are known to keep them safe, such as segregation by sex”. (continues)

SirVixofVixHall · 24/10/2018 11:07

Insane! The deceit about his sex, it makes me so angry. This is a man who raped a child with his penis. This isn’t a woman.

Butterymuffin · 24/10/2018 11:12

Mentioning Parkhurst is clever. Gives the game away without risking being accused of deadnaming. Awful that this gets labelled a woman's crime though.

R0wantrees · 24/10/2018 11:17

Most people skim read and won't check this.

That this is all that police statements and media reports can sometimes do is truly chilling.

ProfessoressWoland · 24/10/2018 11:18

I agree with HairyStorm. The argument "transwomen should be placed in women’s prison as some women are also sexual abusers too” is basically saying that we might as well put some men into women's prisons because women also commit crimes.

TheClitterati · 24/10/2018 11:22

the child he raped is now 18 and will be reading how she was raped as a child by a woman. How disturbing is that!!

I thought victims/survivors were meant to matter in our CJS?
