You could read out their tweets at them and ask if this is what is meant by a "kinder, gentler politics".

According to Twitter this is pretty much what happened later on, hence the women being called pathetic by the Chair. But Lily apparently left immediately after delivering Lily's speech. So is being feted on Twitter by sycophants (including woke bro blockhead Neville Southall) for bravery when all that happened is that Lily realised some well known gender critical feminists were in the same room, made a speech condemning "transphobia" online, then quietly left.

Ereshkigal · 17/10/2018 19:22

and when you tell women to 'go fuck themselves' days before campaigning for 'kinder, gentler politics'

A more cynical person than me would suggest that may have been deliberate.

hackmum · 17/10/2018 19:28

Ah, didn't realise it had already happened. The idea that the chair of the kinder, gentler debate called them "pathetic" is hilarious and categorically belongs in the box of things you couldn't make up...

OvaHere · 17/10/2018 19:29

So the Chair of a meeting about kinder, gentler politics told women who tried to explain abusive tweets that they were pathetic.

You couldn't make this stuff up. It's like a plot line from The Thick of It but worse.

Reminiscent of Liverpool mayor, describing Liverpool Resisters as behaving in a 'bullying' and 'intimidating' way whilst, well sounding rather bulling and intimidatory.
from 16:00

I understand that Private Eye have had quite a bit of comment about Mayor of Liverpool. Joe Anderson, OBE in the past

Melanippe · 17/10/2018 22:42

Look. It's pretty simple. Everyone knows that Lily can't really be a woman, because when Lily speaks, Lily is listened to by those with power. When women speak, we're told to shut the fuck up, that we're shitty people and should suck formaldehyde pickled balls/ladycock/farts.

LizzieSiddal · 17/10/2018 23:32

I’ve just seen on LM’s Twitter that they are now the LGBT Labour officer for Brockley.

Thank god they didn’t go for Woman’s Officer again.

ToeToToe · 17/10/2018 23:37

Brockley. I have family/friends there.

Still. LGBT has to be an improvement on Women's Officer when Lils hates women

ToeToToe · 17/10/2018 23:44

Do you know, I'm suddenly upset for my stepdad. A welshman, born and bred in working class Cardiff - the most working class area - got to University and moved to London. Made something of himself, has worked hard (Science teacher).

He has been a proud Labour voter for his whole life. He never talks about politics to family, I only know he was a proud Labour voter because I overheard him talking to door-knockers during an election campaign when I was a teenager.

I'm sure he'd be horrified by what's going on in the Labour Party now. I bet he's completely unaware of it. Our once majestic Labour Party - I don't recognise them now.

ToeToToe · 17/10/2018 23:45

What have Labour done? Sad

I'm wondering where all the grown-ups are.

Jeremy Corbyn has been shmoozing with Pink News.

(extract)
"Speaking about transgender rights, [Jeremy Corbyn] said: “We must speak up for the trans community, who today face shocking attacks in the media—just as lesbian and gay people did in the 1980s—as well as now online, which can be a wonderful place but also a horrendous place where attacks take place.

“Labour supports reform of the Gender Recognition Act and Equality Act to allow for self-declaration. The deadline for Government’s consultation is on Friday.

“Trans people must be able to live full, healthy, and happy lives—being the person they want to be. Labour will stand up for their right to do so.” (continues)

Right so let me just try to get this straight..
anti-women people continue to reserve the right to name themselves whatever they like (‘women’ for example ) but now in addition to that, when they are called out for being blatantly misogynistic (for calling women ‘TERFs’) ...they now want to call rad fem women ‘men’?!
Eh what? Hmm

VovoBickie · 18/10/2018 03:26

I'm still shocked that in England you have political reps that tell women to "fuck off" and "suck dick" ... It's really baffling that they keep their jobs??

OvaHere · 18/10/2018 08:38

Vovo Literally no one else would. In political circles being trans is like having a teflon coating.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/10/2018 08:39

I don't think a woman would get away with it so easily. Even a trans one.

Nicknamesalltaken · 18/10/2018 08:43

Corbyn obviously doesn’t have a clue as it’s not the EA being reformed. And that alone is frightening.

His days as leader are numbered.

Mxyzptlk · 18/10/2018 10:21

I expect WebRoots Democracy meant that they would be tackling Lily's use of online abuse.
Didn't they??

It seems totally unreal doesn't it? It is so unprofessional and offensive. I won't vote for any political party which allows that kind of behaviour to carry on unchecked

deydododatdodontdeydo · 18/10/2018 10:50

I'm sure Hislop, Merton and many many more sane people find the whole thing ridiculous, but the witch hunt culture now is such that anyone speaking out risks their career and livelihood.
The only people who spoke out about Weinstein and similar a few years ago were people with no careers and they were dismissed as failed and bitter cranks.
(Then again, if IH did speak out, we'd all be saying "why does it take a man speaking out for people to pay attention?").
