I have just completed the online consultation.

Thank you to fairplayforwomen for the helpful guidance.

It didn't take too long.

THERES ONLY A WEEK LEFT!!!

Do it today.

(Sorry can't link as I'm on my phone which keeps playing up!

the government's silence on the harassment and intimidation of women attempting to discuss it.

They were happy for their own members to refer to the British judiciary as enemies of the people. tbh, I've been waiting for us to be described that way by them.

CherryValance · 15/10/2018 11:28

Done it. Have also (extremely politely) come out as GC on a post put up by a gay relation on Facebook today. He's a nice liberal person and seems to have no idea what the problems with self ID would be for women.

Walkinthegreengarden · 15/10/2018 11:46

I did it with the FPFW guidance, v helpful.

I recently started seeing a rape counsellor after a long wait. Was asked at my booking appointment would I be ok with female, male or Trans counsellors. After a think I said yes to all, knowing waiting list was long.

Turns out I have a TW counsellor. This is fine as I was asked in advance. With self I.D. could this counsellor just be referred to as female? Would their colleagues be allowed to flag up their Trans status to new patients? Obviously this could be very traumatic for survivors of sexual assaults who request and expect a female counsellor.

GraceMarks · 15/10/2018 13:56

I've done it, mainly spurred on by a FB post I saw this morning from a very woke friend urging everyone to do it in support of trans "folk". I suspect my responses weren't quite what she was intending, though.

The questions are worded in such a weaselly way that it's almost as if they wanted people to be put off. "Do you think X issue will make any difference..?" I referenced the fact that some organisations are already acting as if self-ID is legally binding, and that there is already considerable confusion about applying exemptions under the EA. I also said that there is no such thing as non-binary unless you buy into gender stereotypes, and I criticised the consultation's failure to distinguish between sex and gender.

I'm really concerned, though, that it's already a done deal and the "consultation" is just a sop to its opponents. I worry that the wording is so vague that they can interpret it however they like.

I wouldn't have made it all the way through the thing if I hadn't spent so long reading all the brilliant stuff on FWR, so thank you MNers!

ToeToToe · 15/10/2018 14:06

Honestly? I think both Penny Morduant & Maria Miller started this whole thing with a view to it being a done deal.

I think a lot's changed in the meantime - MPs are rebelling, it's out in the open. They haven't a hope of 'sneaking it in under the radar' as they did the 2004 Act.

Too many news stories have shocked people - putting rapists in a female prison for starters, and now that person who is clearly male-bodied breaking the women's cycling record.

A majority of (certainly tory) MPs do not want this, and the majority of the general certainly don't.

ToeToToe · 15/10/2018 14:08

Reporting in the Times has been outstanding - and the grassroots tories are reportedly furious about the whole thing - it's hardly 'conservative' politics, is it?

If Labour get in at the next election, they will look to push it through though.

(Former Labour voter here).

FekkoTheLawyer · 15/10/2018 15:14

I've only met 2 people who were in the 'men can be women. whazza problem bla bla bla?'

I didn't even need to engage with one guy - he has a little girl who loves dance and gymnastics. Last time I was speaking to him I mentioned (in passing as I couldn't be bothered to get my blood pressure up with his 'right on Corbynista' attitude) the gymnastics statement that had just been made (about allowing boys to training with, change with and compete against girls). He went off all by himself of that.

IdahoCrow · 15/10/2018 16:27

I've just submitted mine. Took all day, put a great deal of effort into it.

Challenged assumptions, myths and statistics, gave detailed examples, questioned the fairness of the consultation structure and wording, alluded to TRA tactics and Penny Mordaunt's TWAW stance, referenced women's groups' very real concerns about the silencing of women etc, and talked about the irresponsible missuse of suicide 'data' by activists.

Really went to town on the mixing up of 'sex' and 'gender' in the consultation document.

DP has also submitted a shorter response based on the excellent ideas from Fair Play for Women, and put it on his Facebook page. He doesn't have that many FB friends but they'll be interested in this and share it, as their girls are in sports teams and will be affected.

Badstyley · 15/10/2018 17:11

I’ve just finished. It’s taken me nearly all day. I didn’t look at the guidance so I’ll look at it now and realise I’ve done it all wrong. I haven’t submitted it yet though so I can change it. I never want to see it again.

Oldstyle · 15/10/2018 17:35

For anyone who can't face the gibbering tedium of the GRA form, here's a new direct link to the Fair Play For Women one-click consultation response. Four days to the deadline.

SomeEnchantedEaring · 15/10/2018 17:45

The one-click response has been a Godsend. It has helped me persuade four friends and DP to complete it so far. I'm hoping for several more by the deadline! I submitted my own response this afternoon. I started it over a month ago. What is striking is how much more hardline my views have become in that time - mainly due to external developments and all the very helpful discussions here.

TheSageofOnions · 15/10/2018 18:52

Done it.

thefatladyscreams · 15/10/2018 19:12

Just completed . The template was a great help. I cut and paste it into the online version and then personalised it with my own comments. Feel better for getting it done.

MajesticWhine · 15/10/2018 19:20

I have done it. Have been procrastinating somewhat - due to the difficult layout of the consultation but now it's done, thanks to fairplayforwomen

niceberg · 15/10/2018 19:37

Done today! The Fair Play for Women guidance was very helpful.

lydiamajora · 15/10/2018 20:02

Done!

AllMumsyWereTheBorrowedClothes · 15/10/2018 20:17

My thanks to all the amazing posters here, and links to so many different, passionate, and fair voices, articles, blogs, videos; thinking not just about their own interests, but the needs and rights of girls, women, boys, and men. And to Fairplayforwomen, WPUK, and for being forced to think. I've done it!!

Oldstyle · 15/10/2018 20:21

Message from FPfW re the consultation:
Despite a weekend under siege from TRA and trouble-shooting on various front I'm very pleased to say that we have now passed 7000 1-click submissions sent.
Despite website access issues we still had 10,000 views of the 1-click page (now 37,000 in total since we made it last week)
A team of us worked tirelessly over the weekend behind the scenes and we now have a CO.UK fairplay website hosting the 1-click submission. So if you hear anyone having problem accessing the main site please tell them to go to www.fairplayforwomen.co.uk

Pebblesandfriends · 15/10/2018 20:30

Completed a while back but it hasn't been promoted to wider public, and I believe many people are completely unaware so responses will not be representative of the general population.

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 15/10/2018 20:37

Just done it. I used the FP4W guidance but put it in my own words and added bits.

heresyandwitchcraft · 16/10/2018 02:01

BigGreenOlives · 16/10/2018 10:14

Thank you wpuk for your help.

If anyone needs the link it's

LangCleg · 16/10/2018 10:27

I've done it. Shoved in safeguarding principles wherever I could find even the most tenuous angle to do it.

Her0utdoors · 16/10/2018 11:35

Done it, via the quick link.
I am following the situation closely, but my skills lie in other areas and I struggle to but my thoughts down in writing. I am massively appreciative of the women here putting so much passion into opposing this. Thank you.

BiologyMatters · 16/10/2018 12:01

I did it last night. Started it a week ago but finally got it finished last night. Dh saw what I was doing and asked if "i was finished being a bigot yet?" Grin (he was joking)
