I have just completed the online consultation.

Thank you to fairplayforwomen for the helpful guidance.

Once I got going I typed rather a lot!

It didn't take too long.

THERES ONLY A WEEK LEFT!!!

Do it today.

(Sorry can't link as I'm on my phone which keeps playing up!

Penny Morduant has said she wants to hear from concerned women and women's groups in the consultation.

So that's all good then.

SweetheartNeckline · 14/10/2018 20:27

Yes Miranda, it is a shame that our elected representatives felt that wording the consultation in such a way that it was very very hard to answer if you weren't trans was appropriate.

It's almost like they don't want to hear women's opinions on removing safeguards and sex segregation. I mean, that's shocking as well as
shameful, isn't it, a bit like the Women and Equalities minister not meeting with women's groups on this issue!

Contrafibularity · 14/10/2018 20:30

Hi,
Father of two daughters and scientist here. Completed the consultation mostly using WPUK guidance as has DW and we've both also written to our MP. I've discussed this with two friends so far and I think both will also complete the consultation!

theOtherPamAyres · 14/10/2018 20:38

I certainly have completed it, but it took two weekend stints.

I had the FPFW handy booklet, and had printed off WPUK's guidance - but once I got started, my own voice came through and I referred to them less and less.

I must have absorbed a hell of lot of information in the past few months. I also had the benefit of talking aloud, face to face, to a range of people. It's all helped to clarify my thoughts.

I was hard work but worth it (I hope)

Everythingsgonebonkers · 14/10/2018 20:41

I've just submitted mine. I had started it a while ago but finally got round to finishing it off. I mainly used the FPFW guidance but then compared it to the WPUK guidance to see if there was anything else I wanted to add.

herecomesyourwoman · 14/10/2018 20:51

I've done mine. Very pushed for time so just did the pre-filled one so thanks to those who did more elaborate ones as that makes me feel less bad. And put a stop to my floundering as I wanted to pull my weight too.

ToeToToe · 14/10/2018 20:51

DH is typing away enthusiastically Grin I thought he'd say oh just do it for me - but he's writing it! It's good stuff too - he's obviously absorbed more info about the issues than I thought.

m1randa1 · 14/10/2018 20:51

Well I filled it in just to warn the people analysing it that it was being hijacked by women who wanted to limit the rights of transgender women (and as a result transgender men too probably). I suspect all the so-called feminists here will outnumber the number of transgender people filling in the forms.

m1randa1 · 14/10/2018 20:54

Done and got 2 friends to do it as well, who had NO IDEA about what was happening. Both are quite "woke" regarding trans issues, having older teens who have classmates who are gender fluid. Both initially reacted with "Just live and let live, they're not hurting anyone", until I asked then if they'd be happy with receiving a smear from a biological male when they had requested a female or if they wouldn't mind sharibg a prison cell with Karen White.
how would they feel sharing a prison cell with Rose West?

Beesandfrogsandfleas · 14/10/2018 21:08

What's the actual closing date? And time?

Beesandfrogsandfleas · 14/10/2018 21:10

Miranda don't you mean "it is being filled in by people with a vested interest in how the law might affect them" which I'm guessing is what a consultation is for? Unless that's my lady brain playing up.

Biologicalreality · 14/10/2018 21:10

Errr - two messages from the same person there that look quite ... umm ... different?

ToeToToe · 14/10/2018 21:11

19th October - not sure about the time.

Beesandfrogsandfleas · 14/10/2018 21:20

Thanks toetotoe
The poster called M1randa was quoting another poster, but without holding it. She was asking, would we be happy to share a prison with Rose West. I believe there are only two women in prison in the UK of the category Rose West is in. To share with her you would need to also be a murderer. I don't think sharing rooms happens anyway. RW has (understandably) been the subject of threats in prison and guards have actually had to protect her
The similarities between her and the prospect of larger numbers (due to overwhelming numbers of violent crimes and sexual assaults being carried out by men) of transwomen being moved to jails, at all levels of security, is simply not there. 1/10 M1randa

Beesandfrogsandfleas · 14/10/2018 21:21

bolding not holding

Goostacean · 14/10/2018 21:27

Placemarking to make sure I fill this in before the deadline; first I’d heard of it!!

MawkishTwaddle · 14/10/2018 21:32

I've done it, and asked my DP to do it, too.

He said, 'Oh, I did that ages ago.'

Oldstyle · 15/10/2018 01:30

Yay for DP! Can we clone him please.

FekkoTheLawyer · 15/10/2018 09:08

Ocado have a stall in Tottenham Court Road station. Just sayin. Anyone got any leaflets?

Forgotthebins · 15/10/2018 09:14

Did it a few weeks ago and had an email from a relative who has just
done it - another has promised to do it before the deadline.

Childrenofthestones · 15/10/2018 09:24

Done

buckeejit · 15/10/2018 09:26

I did the short version which was easy

northender · 15/10/2018 10:49

Just completed it

HawkeyeInConfusion · 15/10/2018 10:59

Done mine.

I was leaving it to the last minute. But I'm afraid of more dirty tricks from those who don't want our voices to be heard.

Floisme · 15/10/2018 11:03

I've sent it off. The Fair Play for Women guidance was a great starting point but I personalised my answers. It took an afternoon but I think it's helped me muster my own arguments better.

In the final section I noted their abject failure to ask women how a change in the law might affect them, and also at the government's silence on the harassment and intimidation of women attempting to discuss it.
