Please can you help me with links/arguments against men in female toilets? (I'm waiting for clarification as to whether this is a post for a third toilet space - gender neutral, rather than encroaching on female only spaces.) But expect to get massive flak and probably backlash. This is a group I'm in on Facebook which promotes being 'woke' and is probably full of TRAs waiting to shout Down and dissent. As you can tell I'm not very articulate but any help to my argument would be greatly appreciated, I'll post screenshots below

"Gender neutral" my arse.

'Bogs for anyone, piss everywhere you like, intimidate women out of ever being able to go in them, etc' more like.

numptynuts · 06/10/2018 17:42

What's the group called?

I was at Nottingham university yesterday, in the Portland Building. They've been redesigning, and where there used to be women's and men's toilets there's now just toilets. I think they're gender neutral. I guess that's the way it's going.

huggybear · 06/10/2018 17:48

My friend said they've been popping up at her university, however they're just single toilets that always were unisex rebranded as some sort of marketing ploy...!

LittleBookofCalm · 06/10/2018 17:48

same as University of the ARts, Chelsea

LittleBookofCalm · 06/10/2018 17:49

actually wrong, same as Goldsmiths

At any uni, and for sure at B'ham there must be a lot of Muslims (of both sexes) for whom this may be problematic. For which reason if no other I'd actually be very surprised if there aren't still single sex loos available.

Since when has “unisex” been totally replaced by the term “gender neutral”? Sex matters. Gender oppresses everyone.

MorrisZapp · 06/10/2018 18:28

What are these toilets? Mixed sex

Who can use them? Everyone

Why's there a picture of a smiling man with long hair? Fuck knows

Sowhatifisaycunt · 06/10/2018 18:35

I was at one of the Cambridge University colleges for a wedding earlier this year and they had gender neutral loos.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 06/10/2018 18:39

We need to start a new religion. One where we aren’t allowed to have men in our changing rooms or showers. Perhaps if they are recognising we need protecting from rape and sexual assault, we can get protection on religious grounds?

TheFairyCaravan · 06/10/2018 18:39

The University of East Anglia has unisex toilets in some buildings.

I can't decide what's wrong: gender neutral loos or separate sex toilets with self-id. I don't want either! I want toilets separating by chromosomes! Sad

WrongKindOfFace · 06/10/2018 18:45

I was at our local uni recently and they have several types of loos. Normal loos with cubicles, single room loos off a corridor just marked as loos or accessible, and in the student union gender neutral loos. Funnily enough I didn’t see anyone use the gender neutral loos whilst I was there.

Women don’t want to share with men should be reason enough.

stopthecavalry · 06/10/2018 18:53

Spend plenty of time around unis incl birmingham. I see a range of toilet types. Never had a problem finding single sex toilets.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/10/2018 19:02

I know DDs department at Cambridge has separate sex loos because she's commented that while there are men's on each floor, the women's are on alternate floors. This is, TBF, in a department with < 25% female students. I guess places which are still all too aware of the need to combat good old fashioned sexism and gender stereotypes are likely to be a bit less 'woke'.

VickyEadie · 06/10/2018 19:08

I plan, if ever I'm in a place with 'gender (sic) neutral' loos, to demand them to show me a separate women's. I plan to tell them my previous experiences with men mean I cannot contemplate being alone in a toilet which a man might enter.

FekkoTheLawyer · 06/10/2018 19:08

Central St Martins - still single sex, thank Christ (or there would have been a Fekko tantrum - a very large one). But since they seem to have an awful lot of (women) students from Asia and ME they won't kill that golden goose.

I've stopped using the word female these days. It's no longer useful.

ArfArfBarf · 06/10/2018 19:12

Gender neutral toilets working out super well for sex offenders at UEA

VickyEadie · 06/10/2018 19:17

ArfArfBarf

Have you recorded that one on the 'This never happens' thread?

ArfArfBarf · 06/10/2018 19:18

Will do now

PretendingToBeAMuggle · 07/10/2018 07:23

Why are all these institutions acting? Am I correct in thinking currently individuals need a GRC to be considered the gender of their choosing? And only when self ID (hopefully) does (not) come in will individuals of all biological sex's be able to pick and choose which toilet/changing room they enter?
