Just seen on the BBC Wales news that Helen Webberley has been found guilty of providing an unregistered online medical clinic. She'll be sentenced next month.

Type the question, 'Am I transgender?' into Youtube.

Helen Webberly's video comes high in the results.

Has anyone posted the screenshot of nick Campbell retweeting an ad from Helen webberly and her gender clinic?

Just in case they haven't

Oh that's awfully good anlaf

At this point I have to conclude that the BBC has an active policy of suppressing news that makes the TRA movement look bad. Which is all kinds of worrying given that they're the national broadcaster.

I came to this realisation ages ago, around the same time I cancelled my TV licence. Its just ridiculous. The tone of their 'fact check' about transgender prisoners was eye opening. What they actually discovered was that there were even more trans prisoners that FPFW estimated. But they filled it out with waffly shite from a transactivist to try and cover that up. Fact check indeed!

August 2018 Online Doctors Uncovered
Panorama

Panorama goes undercover to reveal online doctor sites putting profit before patient care. In 2017 the Care Quality Commission issued a warning about the risks of buying drugs prescribed by doctors online. The programme discovers opiate-based painkillers and slimming tablets being sold to potentially vulnerable people and antibiotics being delivered across Europe in the face of warnings about resistance.

Dr Faye Kirkland, journalist and GP, meets the families of patients who have died after online consultations and exposes the sites running rings around the regulators."

Ooh that's music to my ears Charlie. My female socialisation means I love to appear administratively competent

Webberley was convicted under the Care Standards Act 2000. Operating an unregistered clinic carries a maximum penalty of £5000. Under the more recent Health and Social Care Act 2008 the penalties are higher:

The penalty on summary conviction is a fine of up to £50,000 or up to 12 months imprisonment, or both. The penalty on conviction on indictment is an unlimited fine or up to 12 months imprisonment, or both.

In the Times article today, it says that she was prosecuted under the Care Standards Act 2000, but faces an unlimited fine. I'm not sure if that's correct, unless there have been some changes to the law.

Since both these Acts seem to be in force in Wales, it's unclear why she should have been prosecuted under the older Act. I'm pretty sure that £5000 would be small change to Webberley, so she won't exactly be deterred by this. I assume there's a possibility that she'll be struck off, though.

The links to Webberley's website are still live on the Mermaids site.

Seeing as she's under supervision until Nov by the GMC and she's had this happen I'll say so!!!

Bolloxio · 07/10/2018 14:27

The programme discovers opiate-based painkillers

Would love to know which site they discovered selling opiates. When I have looked into online pharmacies and that its always pretty harmless stuff, like heartburn medication.

Bolloxio · 07/10/2018 14:27

And of course hormones, which are not harmless.

RealGhouls · 07/10/2018 14:54

I had a quick look into Webberley's past, and it seems she has been involved with a number of online pharmacy sites before this, so it seems she settled on online sex changes as her get rich quick scam

FekkoTheLawyer · 07/10/2018 15:08

So past clients could now sue then?

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 07/10/2018 15:11

The Guardian has noticeably failed to cover this.

The Guardian cannot die a horrible flaming painful financial death soon enough.

The Guardian - THE Guardian? 😱

Helen Webberley (GenderGP) was given 'control' of Neville Southall's Twitter account in June 2018.
Mermaids and other support groups and trans advocates signposted via Twitter to their followers.

Southall also hosted a number of other groups which should have been cause for concern if Twitter followers were young / vulnerable.

Neville Southall will forever be remembered by many for the adult baby takeover

I wonder if that 'takeover' happened after the one by Helen Webberley?

No doubt some children and parents will have continued following the NS Twitter account after GenderGp's takeover.

Searched engine on Webberley and The Guardian brought these links up:

The above article has a link to Gendered Intelligence.

The above article has a link to Mermaids

gendergp.co.uk/zucker-again-article-for-guardian/

Interestingly I couldn't find this article in The Guardian. Also if you click on the link a pop up question asks 'At what age did you first realise you were gender variant?'

Fortunately Zucker has now been exonerated and awarded a substantial settlement from CAMH in Canada. So Webberley's thoughts are wrong on this. CAMH has issued an apology.

placemats · 07/10/2018 16:23

None of the above links have a link to The Samaritans.

R0wantrees · 07/10/2018 16:29

None of the above links have a link to The Samaritans.

Its worth looking at the articles written by or featuring interviews with Susie Green.

I did this once (a while back) as she often not only uses the statistics about suicide but describes specific details about her child's attempts.

I don't think I ever saw a Samaritan's link.
If there was a link for support it was to Mermaids.

WanderinWomb · 07/10/2018 18:09

In the decade or so Susie Green has been in the media I haven't seen a TV show or press interview where her child's reported suicide attempts haven't been detailed , along with that snappy saying (yuck) " better a daughter than a dead son" .
Its so manipulative and dangerous.
