I'm glad you wrote that - I feel I should be reaching for the tinfoil when I start to suspect that, behind the TRAs, there are people looking to use them as a way of breaking down societal norms in order to build up their own but I increasingly think there's something to it.

(That and it being a way for people to signal their virtue by standing foursquare behind the latest 'cause', as long as it means their taxes stay low. It also allows them to divert the efforts and energies of the activists down non-financial or class-related paths).

One of the difficulties with Karen White seems to have been that there was no risk assessment because she was taken to the women's estate straight after sentencing.

It's rare but now not unknown for men on trial for serious crimes to "start living as a woman" partway through or for the sentencing as the start of an attempted end-run.
