I've come across so many of these threads at the moment on mumsnet and I'm interested/intrigued in them because I have never seen trans women (or men) as a problem. They don't affect my day to day life at all. In fact I don't believe I've ever met a trans woman in real life, that I know of anyway.

I'm struggling to understand why it makes women so angry and also why men seem to be so universally hated on here in general. I've just been reading a thread about how they fear women and how they fear them having a voice and doing better than them. This just does not ring true for me - the men I know I just not like this!

Anyway I'm prepared to listen and find out more about this subject. I don't think you will actually peak trans me though...

I meant (but was trying to be polite) isn't that definite mental illness as opposed to whatever the other is?

NotANotMan · 01/10/2018 07:10

Why?
Seriously, why is it mental illness to believe you are a 7 year old but not to believe you are the opposite sex?
Stephonknee doesn't actually believe he's a child anyway, living as a child is a sexua fetish. He lives with his 'parents' who he has sex with whilst dressed in little girls clothes.

tillytop · 01/10/2018 07:13

So that's definitely mental illness, isn't it?

NotANotMan · 01/10/2018 07:13

The mental illness argument is interesting. Eva Tiemat, the male person who started by transitioning into a transwoman then moved on to wanting to look like a dragon, is often presented as if the dragon surgeries are a sign of mental illness whilst the 'female' surgeries are just normal, revealing 'her true self'. He's often just described as a 'woman' who wants to be a dragon.
No critical thought applied to the concept that if surgery to look like a dragon is bizarre, why isn't surgery to look like a woman?

I think Stinewall has done everyone a disservice here. I wish we could find a way of separating out the transpeople who want, as they always have done, to just get on with their lives and the TRA types. In the same way we should separate out the transphobes-who are only too real and active- and the people who are perfectly happy to share the world with transpeople, and want them to have all the rights and protections that non transpeople have but who want to talk about the very few areas where rights conflict. There are plenty of transpeople who want to have that discussion too- but they are being drowned out by a very vocal minority.

NotANotMan · 01/10/2018 07:15

Why do you keep saying that?
Sexual fetish isn't mental illness. It feels like you're trying to distinguish between something so obviously ridiculous (60 year old man identifies as 7 year old girl) by saying it must be mental illness and the idea that a man can identify as a woman which is literally the same concept.

tillytop · 01/10/2018 07:24

I think of transpeople as a mixture. Some genuine, some fads, some attention seeking, some using it to gain entry into women's spaces, etc. But man to six year old girl, definitely mental illness. Thanks for the dragon link btw NotANotMan I learn something new every day!

The reason Stefonknee Wolscht is linked to transgender issues is that the Canadian government consulted him and took him seriously with regards to trans issues.

The reason that David Challenor, who raped and tortured a ten year old girl, while wearing a nappy and identifying himself as a six year old girl called Lucy, is linked to transgender issues is because his child Ashton/Aimee who identifies as a woman, employed him as an election agent. Aimee was taken seriously by both the greens and Stonewall and has been allowed to influence policy. These policies have affected schools and girl guides.

The greens are finally investigating Aimee, so Aimee has left and joined the Lib Dem’s.

BertrandRussell · 01/10/2018 07:40

"Sexual fetish isn't mental illness"

It is if your fetish becomes indistinguishable in your mind from your identity.

AngryAttackKittens · 01/10/2018 07:44

I think the way to see it is that many people have fetishes, and for most they function as a sort of condiment that's added to their sex life sometimes to spice things up, but in some cases the fetish completely takes over their life, and that's how you get someone like Stefoknee.

tillytop · 01/10/2018 07:49

Repeal are we in agreement that Stefonknee and Chanellor have definite mental health problems whereas Aimee possibly might not? As for these people having the power to influence policies, not much shocks or surprises me nowadays.

RepealtheGRA · 01/10/2018 07:50

I think all three have mental health issues. I would be utterly amazed if anybody who had, had Aimee’s childhood did not.

tillytop · 01/10/2018 07:56

I think I'm going by my own feelings here. Men dressing as little girls sickens me, men claiming they are women expecting to override women's/girls rights anger me. Genuine transpeople, wish them well.

Nobody here thinks any different. But laws made to protect the third group have enabled the first two.

Pywife2 · 01/10/2018 08:01

I'm in the same lucky position as you, OP. I don't think a change to the law will affect me personally very much at at all, and I don't even have any children to be affected in a future world where women have been forced back into a subordinate role because they can't organise together or even talk about womanhood.

One of the main reasons it doesn't frighten me that there will be no women only spaces in public areas any more is that I rarely go anywhere without my husband these days, a man who I love very much. My feminist analysis of society doesn't mean I hate men, or think all men are violent. Just that members of the male sex are responsible for the violence that pervades our society and controls women's behaviour and status in society.

Unlike you, I can't do what IW said on daytime tv the other day, and just mind my own business, because this affects other people - other women - and I can't ignore this attack on our rights. Now why would someone like IW want everyone to go away and mind their own business?

I feel the same about climate change. We're literally destroying the environment we live in, but it won't affect my life, so why should I care about future generations. A tad selfish maybe?

AngryAttackKittens · 01/10/2018 08:04

I most likely won't live to see Shanghai completely submerged by rising sea levels, and I don't live in China. That doesn't mean I don't think we should try to prevent it from happening.

tillytop · 01/10/2018 08:10

My favourite quote from Posie last week was "women are allowed to be angry." Some people including Ruth (interviewer) seem surprised by this. Grin

This is only one aspect of it - but it might help you understand better mobile.wnd.com/2017/03/female-athletes-crushed-by-women-who-were-once-men/#MFPG3M5HjZJDZl8y.01

MonkeysMummy17 · 01/10/2018 08:17

I'm pretty new to most of this, but googling some of the suggestions on this thread have left me shocked! Cotton ceiling, Karen White, Ian Huntley... Its actually scary these things are going on quietly in the background and working to erode the rights of women and girls.
The idea that saying I am a woman is offensive because I should be saying cis?! Since when is saying I'm a woman a cause for offense? This is crazy! Genuinely concerned and yet it seems that if anyone says anything about the concerns then they're transphobic or something? So we have to keep quiet about being concerned so that we don't offend the men? Jesus

tillytop · 01/10/2018 08:25

Yes monkeys we have to be careful what we say, a bit like nazi times. I'm fully expecting to have some posts deleted because I mentioned mental illness. And possibly this one because I'm likening having to keep quiet, to nazi era.

JamAtkins · 01/10/2018 08:25

are we in agreement that Stefonknee and Chanellor have definite mental health problems whereas Aimee possibly might not?

Stefonknee, DC and AC all have ABDL fetish. AC also has a brony/furry fetish. Surely they are either all mentally ill or none of them are. DC rape and torture of a 10 year old girl was, afaik, criminal i.e. not as a result of diminished responsibility.

AngryAttackKittens · 01/10/2018 08:27

Welcome to Camp Peak Trans, Monkeys. We have tea, biscuits, and incredulous rage at how much dangerous nonsense our politicians and organizations have attempted to push through without the general public noticing.

RepealtheGRA · 01/10/2018 08:33

MonkeysMummy17 I get deleted for my thoughts on what constitutes child abuse, homophobia and misogyny. So I put my thoughts in letters to my MP who then forwards them to the appropriate government department. I suggest you and all other lurkers do the same.

It is the job of MP’s to ensure that our laws are fit for purpose.

BertrandRussell · 01/10/2018 08:37

One question that isn't asked enough is why is it always men? Where are the transmen campaigning to compete in men's sport and use men's changing rooms?

tillytop · 01/10/2018 09:00

Bertrand DD (adult) has two transmen friends. They say they like to be unobtrusive, keep a low profile. They say they would be too afraid to use the men's loo and always use the ladies. Always been accepted in the ladies, no problems at all. One has part transitioned (top part) Interesting how they're at all afraid to use the ladies? (considering how threatening and transposition we all are)
