Posie Parker will be on This Morning tomorrow.

Not sure which TRA/AWA will be provided for her to chew up and spit out though.

There's another Facebook post about it. It's split opinion.

It wouldn't be if the (soft) focus had shown the wider issues.

I think we need to focus on self ID, so there's at least some protection from the Karen whites of this world.
India isn't going to hurt you in the loos, unless it's to push you over getting to the mirror.

nicenewdusters · 28/09/2018 17:49

Harrup and Datun

Thank you for responding. I was really hoping it was a technical thing, it's too miserable to think that it's really the end of free speech on certain topics. Can I appeal my ban I wonder ?

VerbeenaBeeks · 28/09/2018 17:52

It's not the end of free speech, as I said it'll be the fact that you said you set up an account solely with the intention of tweeting about transpeople and nothing else.
You'll have come across as spam/a troll. I can't see them lifting it as I can see why they've done it. Loads of people do the same thing as you do in order to cause trouble (not saying you were causing trouble by the way) but an anonymous little spammy egg troll type accounts.
You'll have flagged up as one.

PierreBezukov · 28/09/2018 17:58

To me, India dosen't look like a woman.

LaundryLaundryLaundry · 28/09/2018 17:59

Just catching up and have finally managed to watch the clip. Well done, Posie! You did great, remaining calm and composed while up against me, me, me, Willoughby (I think IW even said that at one point). They're all obviously very chummy together (the two presenters and IW) and were happy to indulge IW in making it all about IW. A bit of shit show in that respect but Posie managed to get alot of important names and facts dropped in that will open the eyes of anyone capable of a quick Google search. Bravo!

That poster said she made just one tweet. Hardly spamming people is it? How does Twitter know what her future intentions are?

TwistedStitch · 28/09/2018 18:00

Careful Pierre I got a strike earlier for saying similar.

PierreBezukov · 28/09/2018 18:00

But it's my opinion? It's not meant to be offensive.

frogintheTyne · 28/09/2018 18:02

a strike????!!!!

ffs.

TwistedStitch · 28/09/2018 18:04

Yep. I got an email warning me I had been given my first strike. Surprised it's taken this long tbh, I've said worse.

VerbeenaBeeks · 28/09/2018 18:08

That poster said she made just one tweet. Hardly spamming people is it? How does Twitter know what her future intentions are?

Trolls/spambots make accounts just to send abuse on. How do they know she's not doing it just to do that? From one tweet they've not got a lot to go on.
Yes, her next tweet could be all about the weather or what she's had for tea or whatever but they don't know that either - plus the fact it' s been set up to just tweet trans stuff. Hardly authentic engagement.

TurfClub · 28/09/2018 18:17

it depends what they mean by 'suspend'. You may just need to login and verify your phone number. It doesn't necessarily mean permanent.

TurfClub · 28/09/2018 18:17

also btw there are thousands of twitter accounts only about trans stuff (pro and anti). No rule against that, stop spouting shit.

breastfeedingclownfish · 28/09/2018 18:18

Biology
"That interview was a stitch up. It was three against one with all three being journalists who know how to play the game. Remember India was an experienced TV reporter. It looked like there was collusion behind the scenes. There was no attempt at neutrality or objectivity. It was disgraceful."

I agree. It was pals together using their skills and dare I say it privledge to beat Posie into submission and intimidate her.

Didn't work though eh. Grin

Greenfliesarenice · 28/09/2018 18:18

NotMe's comments about IW fondling their breasts made me think that if an actual woman had behaved like that on national tv they'd never be taken seriously again. Definitely not as a credible journalist.

However very few woman would behave like that, it was all just a stereotypical male wet dream being performed.

breastfeedingclownfish · 28/09/2018 18:21

Twitter is a strange thing and you might have been suspeded because they thought you were a bot. Were you following lots of accounts quickly? Because that will trigger an auto temp suspension which is not linked to the content of your posts. Did it give you a time limit? If so, when you get back on, take your time when following accounts, so much auto activity will trigger their anti bot programming

VerbeenaBeeks · 28/09/2018 18:29

also btw there are thousands of twitter accounts only about trans stuff (pro and anti). No rule against that, stop spouting shit

Hmm don't like the answer, instantly dismiss as talking shit. Oookay.
READ what I said - it'll be the fact that it was set up and the first and only tweet is a trans one (either pro or anti.) Nothing to do with any longer standing accounts that discuss trans stuff.

Twitter is a strange thing and you might have been suspeded because they thought you were a bot.

Careful, you'll get accused of talking shit! Just said the same thing but obviously people don't want to listen.

Politelygiveszerofucks · 28/09/2018 18:37

I don’t think the interview was a deliberate stitch-up. Folk like Eamon/Ruth & co live in such a different world that they were looking at Posie like she was some kind of curiosity, they genuinely don’t get it.

Having read more of the comments here, perhaps my feeling that Posie needs to maybe tweak her delivery is wrong, I was just going by my gut feel and I am no oracle.

I was talking to my mum, who is the natural constituency for This Morning who saw both the Sky interview & this morning. She said she thought that though PP was quite right in everything she says, she was annoyed by the knockabout with Adrian Harrop and that Posie ‘put herself in the wrong’ by not referring to his title. Hmm

I think the problem is that while we have every right to be angry, allowing yourself to be caricatured as that, could maybe cause some people to switch off?

But then others loved the plain speaking. I guess you can’t please all of the people all of the time and she did get some bloody brilliant points in. I also think that the public would have been able to see the lack of balance and highly partisan attack.

Helmetbymidnight · 28/09/2018 18:40

Poise doesn’t need to change. She just needs to be joined, by more of us being prepared to speak...

FloralBunting · 28/09/2018 18:40

Oh, and on Facebook I noticed people objecting to being called 'cis' and the cod sciencey types surprised me, because instead of trotting out the chemistry explanation, they said it was an acronym that stood for 'Comfortable In Skin'.

Quite apart from the clumsiness and mild icky of the term, I was even more agog at the way the daft sods lapped it up like the secret of alchemy had just been revealed to them.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 28/09/2018 18:41

'I think the problem is that while we have every right to be angry, allowing yourself to be caricatured as that, could maybe cause some people to switch off?'

It is absolutely impossible to control whether people caricature you.
It is quite possible that Posie's anger might switch some people off but the evidence of Twitter, particularly the Sky News thread, is that it is switching far more people on.

Gabcsika · 28/09/2018 18:43

Hi All.

I did a breakdown for you all like I did with Genderquake and thought you might be interested.

The link to download the excel file is on my Twitter feed (@gabcsika_me).

Just check out Eamon's interruption and "let me talk about this" meter.

Considering he was up against India I think it's no mean feat.

Apologies for the typos in the image. I do a lot of typos.

Posie on This Morning
FloralBunting · 28/09/2018 18:45

It's impossible to second guess how people are going to respond and try to tailor your delivery to win every single heart and mind in one TV appearance. Posie had one job - make the case publicly, point out that the emperor has no clothes on and see what happens. The simple fact is that relatively speaking, hardly anyone knows what is going on.

She got the word out. The niceties of presentation are genuinely neither here nor there.

nicenewdusters · 28/09/2018 18:45

Thanks for the replies about my Twitter account. As I said, I've never had one before so don't know the rules.

I can't be the only person who opens an account to tweet about something I feel strongly about ? Everyone has to have a first tweet. It wasn't transphobic, it was a question. It wasn't spammy or trolling. And I wasn't trying to cause trouble. I was asking a question to explore the logical conclusion of something that was said on a tv programme.

I've seen some very harsh, aggressive and frankly vile tweets on Twitter, on various topics. Presumably these are allowed after you've proved yourself to not be a spammer, a troll or a one trick pony.

I shall remain a one trick pony if that's what they think. If my post is considered in today's climate to be transphobic so be it. I know it isn't, and I'm content with that.

MipMipMip · 28/09/2018 18:51

Ifnotnow you're tight, I should have said male rape was rarer, not rare. I was just trying to confirm to a poster who asked that yes, men and trans women can be raped. It was not suggesting that it is not serious and should not be treated compassionately. I apologies if I did not make that clear.

I think Posie could benefit from media training. Not to make her appear nice or rub any corners off. We need sharp elbows! But so that she can more easily spot them derailing or trying to back her into a corner. And to know journalists triggers - if she can move the subject to x, which the presenter cares about, then she might get a better reception. Also simplifying the subject for someone knew to it, although it's so vast that can be hard.

Posie did amazingly. She has the ability to be even better.
