Posie Parker will be on This Morning tomorrow.

Not sure which TRA/AWA will be provided for her to chew up and spit out though.

i mean women who say transwomen are transwomen

and not women

are not themselves women

interesting

the definition of a woman is therefore "someone who conforms to stereotype of woman and does not diagree with men"

FloralBunting · 28/09/2018 16:58

Gawd blimey, the This Morning Facebook post is swimming in 'hormone washes in the womb', 'Female brains in male bodies' and other assorted cod science. Lots and lots and lots of comments confidently saying "Acksherly, science has shown that there aren't two sexes, look it up!"

Ignorance plus pressure to be nice = toxic stupid.

TimeLady · 28/09/2018 17:00

I don't mind the pseudo science - it just makes the anti-women activists look thick as mince.

nicenewdusters · 28/09/2018 17:02

Ok. If I don't post here I think my head might explode.

Haven't had the chance to read this thread yet. I watched Posie on This Morning today and was outraged by the bias and sneering attitude of both Ruth and Eamon. I watched India on Celebrity Big Brother, so already knew what their take on things would be.

I was so angry I set up a twitter account to tweet my opinion to This Morning. I wasn't at home with my own device, so did it with the person who's house I was at, with their full permission and encouragement. My tweet was a question, to explore where the statement that India was a woman would naturally lead.

I posted that if India Willoughby was now a woman, by the dictionary definition of adult human female, so a natal woman, could we expect her to be invited on to the show in future to discuss periods, pregnancy, pms, the menopause and breast feeding. I added that I thought the interview was biased and unprofessional.

No swearing
No threat of violence
No phobic language

Your account has been suspended WTAF ?

Please somebody tell me this must have been a problem with the account itself, is that likely/possible ? Or am I, in 2018, not free to ask that question?

affectionincoldclimate · 28/09/2018 17:03

@NothingOnTellyAgain it is amazing how women self police on this too as I've noticed that these comments come, largely, from women. Lovely trans woman with her soft blonde highlights and modulated tones versus an assertive peroxide feminist who tells you that she doesn't have to believe man's say so. Scary stuff for some.

I started off some time ago from a sort of dewy eyed trans ally position. You know "why can't we all get along" type of stuff. I had no idea of the ugly underbelly of this whole thing. However, I can also see why people would be blind to it. I was too.

HarropShitman · 28/09/2018 17:06

Nice. I set up a twitter account a couple of days ago, for similar reasons.

I've given Harrop & co my thoughts a few times and I'm still there! As I am, I shall continue until I'm silenced.

ToeToToe · 28/09/2018 17:09

This FB post has over 1000 likes:

The whole transgender insecurities and misgendering of people is getting to be too much now with people being offended by it ! At the end of the day there are 2 genders male and female and nothing else ! Apologies if that is controversial but it’s true . How people choose to live their lives is up to them but to expect society to know how people want to identify is ridiculous unless everyone starts wearing labels ! This poster is a true definition of what woman means same as if it said man I don’t understand how it would offend anyone!! The world is going crazy !!!

He's just an ordinary looking guy - he's probably not into the radfem gender critical arguments we discuss here - but he just gets it.

I suspect this is the 'ordinary man on the street' majority opinion.

BiologyIsReal · 28/09/2018 17:10

Just a quickie to pick up the posters who commented on my point about media training.

Posie was indeed brilliant. She was set a bear trap and did amazingly well. Media training isn't necessarily about telling someone what to say. Posie doesn't need that. No way does she need to be turned into a media tart like some who are media trained. She can speak for herself. It' can be just some tips on what particular journalists are like, their track record, their methods, programmes to be wary of and stuff like being aware you are entitled to ask what the first question will be and they must tell you. Even simple things such as if it is recorded and they are going on too long to get a 2 minute soundbite it can be because they are looking for that killer soundbite that can be taken out of context. Stuff like that.

So apologies to those who thought I was being unhelpful. Not my intention at all.

Go Posie!

Datun · 28/09/2018 17:14

nicenewdusters

I'm not on Twitter, but they are putting out a survey which basically people are saying will render any talk of sex differences a bannable offence.

You seem to have been a victim of it already. You cannot equate being a woman with periods.

Helmetbymidnight · 28/09/2018 17:17

Interesting that lot of comments in This Morning's Facebook page are about how ladylike India was in comparison to Posie and how that's a good thing

It makes my head explore. Really, so arghhh.

I would avoid the phrase ‘dictionary definition’ personally- because you know there will be dictionaries that go with the ‘anyone who identifies’ meaning. Eg Wikipedia has.

So yes keep hammering on definitions- what is a woman/what is living as a woman etcetc this IS the point but I’d suggest avoid the word dictionary.

PierreBezukov · 28/09/2018 17:17

Wow! Just watched it. Posie was fantastic!!

I am sure that the vast majority of viewers will think - 'that woman is speaking common sense'.

She was uber-calm, collected, and did not allow herself to be sidetracked into the 'Poor India' track. Which was absolutely the right thing to do.

She seemed to me pretty media savvy. She knew what she wanted to say and said it very clearly and in articulate way. She answered every question civilly.

Ruth and Eamonn weren't as bad as I'd feared, having read this thread - they were clearly biased towards India but mostly seemed just out of their depth.

Posie this was brilliant. Keep doing it. You are being brave and stunning in the truest sense.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 28/09/2018 17:18

Lots and lots and lots of comments confidently saying "Acksherly, science has shown that there aren't two sexes, look it up!"

Ah, advanced biology again. So advanced science hasn't bothered to name the other sexes yet.

2BorNot2Bvocal · 28/09/2018 17:20

What we all know is that Eamon Holmes (if Ruth saw the light & got rid of him) would never in a month of Sundays ask IW out on a hot date.

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 28/09/2018 17:21

Oh I love advanced biology. Do tell me woke dude-bro, I'm enthralled... Grin

Juells · 28/09/2018 17:22

I can't help wondering, when you see woke blokes trumpeting about TWAW - if they're single, do they include transwomen in their dating pool?

Juells · 28/09/2018 17:23

haha cross-post 2BorNot2Bvocal

seafret · 28/09/2018 17:24

Useful tips indeed biology Are you offering your time and skill to help Posie then?

.

If by your own words you don''t do Twitter and you've set up an account solely to argue against transwomen, you're probably flagged up as spam/ not a genuine tweeter.
It'll look like you're just a troll out for trouble. As a big Twitter user myself can see why they've done it.

VerbeenaBeeks · 28/09/2018 17:25

Sigh, top bit obviously a bold fail as was a quote.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/09/2018 17:27

nicenewwdusters that post would have been reported on twitter and you have been suspended for transphobia

linking periods / childbirth / ovaries etc to the words woman, girl and even female has been deemed "exclusionary" for some time.

Even if not linked to the words, woman etc, even talking about periods or whatever is criticised as being "gynocentric" and there is a claim that sexism / misigyny / oppression of girls and women all over the world is nothing to do with our assumed reproductive status but actaully because we are "femme".

How the fuck you tell a baby is "femme" before aborting it for being a girl is beyond me.

I also note that the demand for girls and woman in the sex industry seems pretty heavily interested in our bodies (or "unimportant outer shells" as one poster on the facebook said) and not nearly as invested in if we are "femme".

As an aside this is often related to clothes / makeup. Men are interested in seeing women girls naked. In fucking us. When a man in south korea films girls in a changing room he's not interested in "femme" people with cocks FFS. EVERYONE knows this. But, we are not going to be allowed to say it. Sex crime is to be a "people problem" and why not put those same men in the girls changing rooms with them etc.

NotMeOhNo · 28/09/2018 17:29

Why do people keep referring to IW being distressed with gender dysphoria? I don't see it.
Late-transitioning TICK
Married with child TICK
Fondled breasts while topless on national TV TICK
Thinks women who don't shave are yuck TICK
Aggressively enforces womanhood despite reality TICK

BeyondAdultHumanFemale · 28/09/2018 17:35

I lolled at "India has seen India-self as a woman for a long time" - what, while fathering a child? Showing us all how to woman properly, thank you India.

2BorNot2Bvocal · 28/09/2018 17:40

Juells That was what got to IW on CBB. One of the men said he wouldn't go there when IW asked him directly. IW can't see that although legally female with a GRC, however nicely people use preferred pronouns, when it comes down to it many will always perceive them as a transwoman.

2BorNot2Bvocal · 28/09/2018 17:41

Caitlyn Jenner on the other hand seems to have far more insight. She said on TV the other day that her children still call her Dad.

BiologyIsReal · 28/09/2018 17:45

No Seafret: I am long-term retired and too out of touch with today's journalists and programmes. Am an old fogey.

But there are others out there who are working in the media and communications world and are up to date.
