I don't think that misrepresenting her actual position is something Posie should be doing. She does not think dysphoric males are women. Why would she say she does? Not only is it not her true opinion, anyone who bothers to check her videos etc will quickly realize it's not her true opinion.

The other side is full of people who lie like cheap rugs. The public does not like liars. We can and should be honest.

Are men expected to pretend to things they don't believe? Are men expected to be nice and sympathetic all the time?

Agreed, it's apparently entirely down to women to manage men's emotions and reactions if they want to be safe or protect others.

Agree turfclub and arranfan. It would have been good if she could have taken much greater control of this conversation though I do admire her stance [don't agree with everything she says but that's another story] Two bloody biased presenters plus IW and a waste of an opportunity - uncompromising free speech is brilliant, but if the general public have no idea why someone is saying that, and that it is simply a personal attack, they will just think she is being mean and women have no skin in the game.

I just had a look under the hashtag, and it's pretty much all "transphobic terf" comments. It seems more sane of the actual TM Twitter feed.

I've always thought there was something a bit sleazy about Eamon, and that comment about male police officers strip searching women has just confirmed it.

I've just caught up with the show and this thread and I think she did brilliantly. Posie was straight to the point, no uumming and ahhing and having to search for an answer, she knows what she wants to say and she says it. Well done Posie if you're reading.

I honestly also think, Posie should keep talking straight. Other GC spokespeople may have different approaches and this diversity should be present in the debates, but Posie‘s unapologetic authenticity is a gift.

It's interesting to flick through the responses on Twitter. Loads of women picking up on the sexism/appropriation aspect now - "you can't just put on a dress and call yourself a woman" and so on. We maybe have Pips to thank for that! Men's responses tend to be about free speech; and the tweets who initially are pro-IW, when challenged on self-id, very quickly back down mumbling "I didn't realise that"...

We want public support so I think we need to bring people in gently. If you show no sympathy and appear dismissive there will be many ordinary people that mark you as a transphobe and refuse to even listen to what you have to say. You need to be canny in this game. That is not to say the basic message should be diluted. It is about the delivery.

The only issue with that deepwatersolo is that not many women are getting the platform PP is at the moment, granted through her own actions....

I've phoned and complained too. It was a woman who took the call, and was very sympathetic when I told her how it felt for someone who has been sexually assaulted to hear Eamonn Holmes telling a woman who doesn't want to be intimately searched by a man that it is fine if the man says he is a woman. Women's boundaries - who cares?

Anyway, she said I would get a written reply if I emailed [email protected] and put 'complaint' as the title.

I thought Posie was making reasonable, rational points in the face of attempted emotional manipulation from the other three. Bizarre to ask her specifically about her attitude to India and then tell her off for making it personal. I mean, ludicrous really.

But I do think the more this stuff is in the news, the better. It makes it easier to talk about, and the more we all talk about it, the more awareness people have of the issues, the better.
