Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

There’s a statement pending from Ocado apparently....

Carriemac · 26/09/2018 09:25

I did email back immediately to clarify why i was cancelling and to ask for a response

This is why the fuckers won't win. Women are smart, organised and resourceful.

I've never used ocado so I can't bin them off, but it cheers me so much to see all you lovely people sticking it right to them.

wiccamum · 26/09/2018 09:28

Ok, just got off the phone. According to customer services who “have been given no brief or advice on this situation”, there is a “senior meeting” happening right now with regards to Ocado’s stance over Primesight. Call centre staff have been told to escalate all calls regarding this subject to a manager and I have been asked to accept a call back in about an hour, after the statement has been released. I shall not hold my breath...

wiccamum · 26/09/2018 09:30

As an aside, the adult human female I spoke to on the phone had “no idea” about all of this. I didn’t want to give her a biased explanation, just encouraged her to go and take a look for herself. Which she will.

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 09:32

We will get a 'sorry you feel upset' statement, not an apology

InfiniteSheldon · 26/09/2018 09:32

I know the threads moved on but I boycott Dove because of an advert they put out where a real actual vagina owning turn apart by pregnancy and birth woman was silenced in the background with the #realmums applied to a trans woman in the front. It peak trans me and I will never ever buy Dove again it's really hard on Google to find any reference to it Dove/Unilever (?) have worked extremely hard to hide it.

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 09:32

So just warning you ocado that 'sorry you feel upset' can also fuck off

Ereshkigal · 26/09/2018 09:33

We will get a 'sorry you feel upset' statement, not an apology

Yes I imagine so. That's not going to wash though.

Ereshkigal · 26/09/2018 09:34

Ha cross post!

JamAtkins · 26/09/2018 09:36

I've just done my Christmas order at Waitrose. I love ocado but I don't need them. I like sainsburys too and live close to a 'big tesco'. I'll miss Fetch as they sell the food my poorly cat needs but if I get my shit together I can buy it from the vets

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 09:37

Oh yes that was dove
I don't buy dove anyway but yes

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 09:37

Lol eresh

doesanybodywantanytoast · 26/09/2018 09:38

Thankyou for bringing this to my attention. I have just re-activated my Waitrose account and booked my Christmas slot.

My weekly £100 Ocado shop will now stop.

It's not based on the actions of the third party, it's based on Ocado's reaction and tweets.

JamAtkins · 26/09/2018 09:38

I agree they can fuck off with their anticipated 'Sorry you are offended that we are massive misogynists' statement. They really need to deliver (not a pun)

IAmLurkacus · 26/09/2018 09:39

They might want to check out the comments on the times article before they decide if they want to come down on the side of a) their actual customer base or b) basement dwelling misogynists

NearWildHeaven · 26/09/2018 09:40

Is that true about Dove? I have stumbled into this thread from Active

I use Dove stuff for lots of things but I've never heard about this campaign

Molokonono · 26/09/2018 09:40

I've emailed and will phone later.

wiccamum · 26/09/2018 09:41

You could almost smell the sweat and tear down the phone at customer services. The frantic “ I’m so sorry to hear that...let me put you on hold...(oh dear god we’re losing another one, fuck, get the suits into the boardroom quick, offer them a voucher, ANYTHING!)
Any recommendations on a replacement supermarket delivery service?

thiskitten · 26/09/2018 09:44

No amount of 20% off vouchers could pull this one back

finnmcool · 26/09/2018 09:45

I just rang and requested to be removed from their database and explained why.
Got a flim flam apology and was told they will be making a statement.
I pointed out that they happily threw women under the bus without a second thought, so whatever their statement says, it will hold no water with me.

GoldenWonderwall · 26/09/2018 09:45

It’s so upsetting how many companies don’t give a shit about women even when smiling in your face and taking your money. It’s not rocket science that the majority of supermarket customers are the adult human females who just want to feed their families, not the adult human females who are too busy winning awards or advising groups to do a weekly shop. I’m sick of being held in contempt by companies that only exist because women spend their money with them.

As an aside, Booths do Christmas deliveries all over and they are amazing!

Gentlygently · 26/09/2018 09:46

Phoned up Ocado. They are aware and are preparing a statement. Spoke to a very nice young lady (I checked, I did not presume her gender) and explained what it was all about, mentioning the Fair Play for women website and the consultation. I would urge everyone to phone - the more reasonable people they actually hear on the end of a phone line the better!

I explained I wanted to know whether it was Ocado’s official position that ‘woman = adult human female’ was controversial, wrong, or hate speech. If it was, I would withdraw my custom. If it wasn’t official policy, I wanted to know why they didn’t look into things more thoroughly before tweeting.
