Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

I seem to have missed this. Could someone tell me what was on the billboard?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 26/09/2018 08:31

I bet whoever is responsible for Ocada's social media didn't have much sleep last night. or possibly a job today.

I don’t shop with Ocado, if I ever do online shopping it’s with Sainsbury’s and they’ve always been really good.

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 08:31

I don't really poundland. I will virtual boycott.

My mains are Top Shop (thank the Lord at last) Marks and Spencer and Primark.

Ringing Ocado now, poor young man on the phone knew they had a problem but had no idea what it was about. He's put me on hold. I think lots of ordinary women ringing in politely to explain why they are cancelling has them rattled

LenGoodmansPickledWalnuts · 26/09/2018 08:40

I'm in! I can't see the tweet this morning - has it gone? Or is it just buried in there somewhere??

NanooCov · 26/09/2018 08:43

I've been using Ocado since they started. No longer. Using my free time this morning while at a settling in session for little one at nursery to write an email of complaint.

BeenHereAWhileNow · 26/09/2018 08:45

He was told they are not making an announcement yet so I've asked for my order to be cancelled, my account to be closed and all my data to be removed from their system.

I cancelled yesterday but didn't have the opportunity to say why beyond that their company values were incompatible with mine. I may flow up with a letter to explain fully.

BettyDuMonde · 26/09/2018 08:46

*cancels Ocado order.

StealthNinjaMum · 26/09/2018 08:53

I have sent Ocado a complaint email. I need to pop to Westminster's court but will also be emailing their PR team later and CEO.

Dear Ocado - I know you track your online mentions - in case it isn't clear this is one of mumsnet's most popular areas - 177k women a month and I would imagine growing massively every time some bugger decides to throw women under a bus.

So Ocado, I have written to you but there will be thousands of lurkers who will not write to you but will just quietly drop their business and remember you as a company not to deal with. Women like me with the main shopping budget. So I suggest you respond quickly and tell us why your values are so different to those of your actual customers.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 26/09/2018 08:55

Had anyone the timeline from the Dr baby tantrum to ocado wussing out?

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 08:57

No tweets on that account...

OwThatsGottaHurt · 26/09/2018 08:57

Just want to say- I love this thread! I don't use Ocado but had been thinking of trying. Not any more.

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 08:59

Normally they up and running.. Someone's trying to decide how to shush us without inciting the wrath of the borg.

StealthNinjaMum · 26/09/2018 08:59

Have they deleted the tweets?

I can't see any tweets from the general public and I'm sure there were about a dozen.

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 09:01

The irony is, they don't realise that if they came out and said 'we were wrong, women are adult female humans, sex matters' they would be inundated with new customers, inundated.

I know very little about buying and selling shares (although will check which shares I have through my pension and think about actions) but is this something that would help? I am more than prepared to do this.

It depends on how many people sell, the price will fall so you will probably lose money. But if a blip on the stock market doesn't make them think twice nothing will.

I buy shares through AJ bell, I have a SIPP with then and a stocks and shares ISA (with nothing in as yet).

it's £9.95 per transaction. You may well get cheaper with another company, for a protest it's better to have some sort of online shares rather than the paper certificates because you can then sell at a set time.

SO you will be spending £20 just to buy and sell. The shares themselves are currently about £9.00 so a minimum of £30 down the drain.

I know not everyone has £30 spare, and that for people who do it might be a hardship so in no way am I saying everyone should do this but if there are enough of us able to do it we could.

IAmLurkacus · 26/09/2018 09:02

If they did that Charliethefeminist I’d never shop anywhere else again. But I shan’t hold my breath.

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 09:03

No still there, 1215 and 1515 on replies

Sassh I would do it. How do we plan it?
