Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

PerverseConverse · 25/09/2018 21:59

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

Just catching up.

Suggestion of supporting high street is awesome - online is so convenient and obviously for most of us it's a life saver.

However - I am in a bit of a different situation than when I started online shopping with Ocado about 12 years ago - and actually this is a reminder to think if I can start using the high street more (well DH as well he's doing shift work so is around more :D). We have a lot of things closing on the high street which is depressing so I have been wanting to support, this is a kick up the arse!

And of course expecially if I can find any shops run by women of the cunty variety :)

Just cancelled too. They're a bloody supermarket and should stay out of politics. If they can't even manage a statement that they got it wrong this time and make no judgment on the matter, then they can piss off. By staying silent now they are taking sides.
You don't have to agree with the billboard to object to Ocado's stance. This is about free speech. After the President's Club dinner, this was the final straw for me. Not one more penny of my money to make this (expletive) Tim Steiner any richer. Bastards.

BoogieFeet · 27/09/2018 11:22

Cancelled, and explained why. I also expressed my disappointment at them not even bothering to make a statement.

I hasn't realised he was also one of the Presidents Club lot...ick.

I doubt they'll truly realise the damage for a while, they forget that they don't only lose our custom but also that which they would have gained through our recommendations. My parents don't use online shopping yet, but when they do decide it'll be useful it will me that they ask for advice, ditto neighbours and friends..

Tanith · 27/09/2018 11:24

I'm moving to supporting my local Farm Shop. They are excellent and I don't use them nearly as much as I should do.

CoffeeKnob · 27/09/2018 11:28

Lurker for years but so annoyed that I've signed up. Looking at Global (Primesight owners) they are responsible for quite a few festivals. Expect quite a few Adult Female Humans have funded tickets and spending money for DC to attend Boardmasters etc!

Juells · 27/09/2018 11:32

They're a bloody supermarket and should stay out of politics.

I've cancelled. Have spent on average 10K a year with them since we started ten years ago. I've found a milkman to deliver milk and for the rest I'll have a look round and decide.

forbiddenfruitcrumble · 27/09/2018 11:51

I've just called in to cancel. My spend is about 14k per year. Apparently they value me. I pointed out that they need to value women full stop. Someone's calling me back.

My high st butchers is amazing. Very good meat from local farms and I get a bit extra for being a regular. Pretty sure that their "values" would be OK with the dictionary definition of "woman" too!
Supporting your high st is absolutely the way to go.

SporadicSpartacus · 27/09/2018 12:08

Delurking to add to the many voices of women leaving Ocado. My weekly shop is £50-£70 (so getting on for four grand of business) and until now wouldn’t have considered going elsewhere for my diamond encrusted salmon. I think i’ll most likely go back to Sainsbury’s.

Just looking back over this thread, Ocado have lost £100ks in annual sales just in the past couple of days.

I tweeted them and emailed them yesterday but no response as yet.

Geraldine170 · 27/09/2018 12:09

Interesting maples. Maybe they’re blocking and ignoring. Try it sending it both from that account and another at the exact same time, same text preferably from two different devices. If it bounces back from one but not the other you will have been blocked.

If they’re blocking people complaining about this I’m going to be furious.

howlsmovingcastle84 · 27/09/2018 12:09

Emailed and threw away the 'money off your first shop' coupon that I had.

Cloudspider · 27/09/2018 12:19

Emailed and coupon returned to them in the post with a nice message. Every other coupon received shall be returned until an apology to women is given thank you

howlsmovingcastle84 · 27/09/2018 12:21

Cloudspider Ooh-good idea! There's a whole stack of them in my local WHSmiths :-)

DontCisgenderMe · 27/09/2018 12:45

I find it so helpful reading online public reviews about companies as helps me decide when choosing where to spend my cash, so please help others like me.

Me too TakeAbowRiks! Trust Pilot is particularly helpful, I think.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 27/09/2018 12:47

Ocado also stock transphobic book

ALL of the women mentioned in the blurb have cunts

Please can someone tweet Ocado and Harrop - this literal violence must stop NOW

(I don;t twitter)

Also the publishers - if they do not include some women with penises IMMEDIATELY & remove ALL the women who did not declare (while alive if they are dead) that they IDENTIFIED as women must be removed (most of them). The post-death transing team should aslo go through and ID any of them who were probabtl transmen (any who were lesbian and/ or wore trousers and/or didn't perform femininity and/or had achievements in the realm of science, sport, industry etc)

This vital work to correct transphobic texts must continue.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 27/09/2018 12:50

Any statement from Ocado yet?

I have a meeting wiht my work in a minute to include bollocking from manager and after that I will be angry enough to write to ocado if they still don't care.

PP who said that whether the women on here leaving will even cause a blip or not - don't know don't care - don't see why they should get any more of my money they've had £800 a month for 12 years or so - no more.

Needmoresleep · 27/09/2018 12:54

Flowers work bollockings are awful.

Zeugma · 27/09/2018 12:57

I just had a look on Trustpilot and it's glaringly obvious that, while Ocado functionaries were previously quick to respond to any negative reviews, the excellent responses from adult human females on here explaining why they were cancelling their accounts forthwith have been met with......total silence.

Seems this is going to be their strategy. Ignore, ignore, ignore.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 27/09/2018 13:04

Have a look at FarmDrop too, peeps. I think I’ll try them out next week plus Tesco as they clubcard point can be changed to Avios. Plus their FreeFrom range is impressive. They have cornetto like icecream - dairy and gluten free and taste like the real thing.

WomenMakePurchasingDecisions · 27/09/2018 13:05

Don’t nothing, someone will take you seriously and ‘fix it’.

I’ve been looking for a book just like that for DD but many/most of them feature men.

thefatladyscreams · 27/09/2018 13:07

Just rang Ocado asking whether a statement will be made as I need to cancel my order for this weekend. Apparently a statement will be made but they are not sure when. I pointed out it is getting too late as I’ll have signed up elsewhere.

Jarveau · 27/09/2018 13:12

I emailed yesterday to cancel my Smart Pass and account. Also cancelled my Friday order, which had included a £20 voucher for recommending them to a friend. No response, naturally.

Currently investigating locally produced food, so thanks to this thread I’m another one rethinking reliance on the retailer delivery operations.

BrisaOtonal · 27/09/2018 13:21

Gosh, it sure is busy over on Trustpilot Grin
