Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

I wish I could boycott but Ocado don't deliver to the back of beyond, where I live. Have fired off emails, though.

I think it's worth keeping up the pressure. That's what the other side too. In the end, at least companies might decide weighing in on either side is a bad move. Better that than nothing.

GladAllOver · 27/09/2018 08:41

The other side will keep up the pressure, but how many of them actually use Ocado?

WomanAKAAdultHumanFemale · 27/09/2018 08:44

did Ocado ever make their statement?

No. And I doubt they will. They are cowards led by a raging misogynist.

Meet0nTheIedge · 27/09/2018 08:44

Lurker here. I have cancelled my Smart Pass. I hadn't been using it very often lately to be honest, but it is the only supermarket delivery company I have ever used, I had always thought their service was great and I had frequently recommended them on MN. Not any more.

Whatnextfred · 27/09/2018 09:09

I cancelled this morning. They didn't even comment or ask me to stay. Bastards. No acknowledgement of the issue at all. Basically said fine then fuck off

The sales dip may be small, but I suspect it may last for longer than Ocado expect. Ocado's image is based on being efficient and professional and delivering nice friendly Waitrose products. Perfect for the well paid working woman and aspirational.

Now they come across as misogynistic (Presidents Club) and chauvanistic. They listen to the dear Doctor, not their customers. Indeed they make no effort to acknowledge their customers' concerns.

Customers leaving a company because they do not feel aligned with a brand, will probably stay away, especially if they find a more suitable alternative. They will also use word of mouth to diminish the old brand (Ocado) and promote the new. And if they come back they will not be as enthusiastic and so may not be as open to offers. I assume that density of customer base matters, so long term profits will be hit.

All very silly. Eomen are adult human females, and dont trust anyone who tells you different, even if they are a doctor.

Needmoresleep · 27/09/2018 09:16

Women...obvs

NobodyToVoteForNow · 27/09/2018 09:19

To be completely honest, I can probably count on one hand the number of reality-deniers who have the wherewithall to cook a simple meal for themselves, let alone order a weekly shop from a pricey supermarket. Wherever Ocado are getting reality-denier money from, it isn't the average womanphobe themselves.

NobodyToVoteForNow · 27/09/2018 09:24

And please don't forget to unsubscribe from all Ocado emails too. If they realise their ready made customer base doesn't even want to hear from them, let alone shop from them, it will start to hit home. Whatever misogyny money the'yre currently factoring in won't last forever. And then what will they do?

GulagsMyArse · 27/09/2018 09:24

Used to use them, was thinking of going back. Never will. Have emailed.

You can order direct from Waitrose and they will deliver.

ItsLikeNew · 27/09/2018 09:33

If anyone ever questions that we live in a society were women are not equal, you only have to point them to this farce.

company insults it customers, customers are unhappy and point out why, one man says look hystical women just ignore them. company looks at many many customer complaints (from mainly women) and looks at the random man.

Hmmmm who would they listen to?
female customers? or a random male?

I got through this morning, asked when the statement was going to be forthcoming, got put on hold, had the poor hapless stooge on the end of the line then parrot a short garbled and obviously prepared speech about how no-one should feel offended, and then they hung up.

I am baffled by this. They are just going to go la la la. OK, with a weary sigh, off to cancel online.

IckyPop · 27/09/2018 09:38

Cancellation requested with a strong email.

seafret · 27/09/2018 09:39

Just to add that Global who own Primesight also own Classic FM. And Heart, and LBC - but then Nick Ferrari is LBC and he was a fair interviewer when speaking to Dr Nic I think it was.

This lot need to sort their shit out.

We can make a lot of impact here immediately and over time. They all think we are too stupid and too shallow to actually make a stand for anything. Lets prove them wrong.

LostTheMarmite · 27/09/2018 10:21

Another lurker here and long time Ocado customer. Cancellation email sent this morning! Hoping the media will get wind of the Ocado angle to this story. It does occur to me that this will have a knock on effect with Waitrose and their market share so will be interesting to see if any comment is forthcoming on that front although I am switching to Waitrose deliveries as I am sure some others are.

tinabloodysparkle · 27/09/2018 10:22

Just cancelled, the CSA didn't know WHAT I was talking about.

It's not particularly big news for them 🤷‍♀️

sunnyhen · 27/09/2018 10:29

I just cancelled too. I didn't explain my reasons (all to do with this thread) but just glad I did it.

MeetieVonWrinkleSqueak · 27/09/2018 10:30

Procrastinator thank you for the link to that twitter feed.

It's amazing.

YogaDrone · 27/09/2018 11:01

I've cancelled. I didn't use them that much for groceries but I use (or used to use) Fetch for pet stuff regularly and I've told them to cancel both accounts and remove me from databases.

I've also tweeted my disgust.

secretsciurusvulgaris · 27/09/2018 11:05

I called this morning to cancel and once the customer service agent realised that we have spent approximately £14k with them every year for about the last eight years, she asked if she could speak to a manager and disappeared for about five minutes. Nothing different when she came back, just sorry I was upset and that they valued me as a customer - to which I replied I obviously wasn't that valued if my existence was so offensive. She genuinely sounded upset and told me to take care at the end of the call. No mention of a statement being issued.

Thanks to whoever it was upthread who mentioned the waitrose app, as this was what really put me off using them along with the delivery times - Waitrose now have the 6am to 11pm one hour slots too though, just like Ocado. First Waitrose order made and Christmas and NY slots booked too.
