Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

I don't use Ocado and won't be doing so after this but well done to everyone who has been in touch with them. They must be in such a panic trying to decide how to respond.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 26/09/2018 13:39

I just made the mistake of listening to Corbyn’s speech.
“ No community left behind”
Except them women. That community didn’t get a single bloody mention. Thanks Jezza.

louiseaaa · 26/09/2018 13:43

I've been shopping in Waitrose recently, but have a trolly half full in ocado that I was going to press the button on today. I'm not very loyal, but can do boycotts (Nestle is 18 years and counting...)

Not now. Back to Waitrose it is..

HaveIDoneSomethingSilly · 26/09/2018 13:43

Honestly Ocado TRAs are not going to support your business. They’re not asking for others to support you over your stance, they’re just laughing at causing you problems. You’ve been used. Also please look into Adrian Harrop and his history of threatening women and revealing their identities before taking his advice.

I've just cancelled. It's against MY values to have a company dictate (inaccurately) to me what is and isn't a biological fact!!

WokerThanWoke · 26/09/2018 13:44

What is this SmartPass of which you speak? I don't live in an Ocado area alas.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 26/09/2018 13:45

I Think the tweet is still somewhere there. I too couldn’t find it on Twitter but if you google “Ocado Primesight” the first result is the link to the tweet and if you click on it, it will take you to the tweet.

TerfsUp · 26/09/2018 13:50

I have just cancelled my account with Ocado. Have also emailed to ask for all the information they have on me. And have emailed everyone I can think of to complain about their policy that believing a woman is an adult female to be transphobic.

Will share any responses.

TerfsUp · 26/09/2018 13:51

In Live Chat I just got a canned response from Sam T saying that my feedback would be passed on.

Fuck off, Ocado, with your woke bullshit.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 26/09/2018 13:52

Somewhat baffled that no one in Ocado Googled Harrop and realised that he's an example of what might be politely called 'an MRA'.

What the hell has happened to due diligence lately? Massive roll out training needed for all organisations, will you do the basic thing of checking people out before you blindly follow their advice/let them write your policies/ jump to obey them? Because when their background and personal agenda emerges, you tend to look a bit of a tit while your customers take note.

sorenipples · 26/09/2018 13:52

I know I'm a bit of a soft touch - but I feel sorry for Ocado. They've inadvertently put themselves on the front line of the gender/sex debate. I presume they are desperately trying to make a business call as to what will be the right side of history and what long term will impact their brand least. This must have potential to blow up whatever they do next - assert the billboard was transphobia, assert they support women being adult human females, sit on the fence, hope it all blows over.

They are probably completely new to this debate and suddenly trying to take it all in, and work out who is going to do the most damage - the vocal woke vs the spending mums - common sense will say it's the mums, but TRA propaganda is that our views will become obsolete suggesting long term we may not be good to back. Common sense on the other hand suggests dictionaries aren't hate the the human race will always need to reproduce ...

Juells · 26/09/2018 13:58

Googled Ocado primesight but the twitter link that comes up has gone. A bit of scurrying around. 12 million visitors monthly to MN v one offended Trans Rights Activist. Hmmmmmnnnnn which should we choose to offend?

Coldallthetime · 26/09/2018 14:00

I don't feel sorry for them. They are a big business with a majority customer base of women - adult, human females.
They have enough money to fund and train a customer service operation which should conduct due diligence rather than resort to a kneejerk reaction.
Ultimately, it'll be down to who they want to keep on side and a mealy-mouthed fudge won't convince the educated women here.
It would have to be a full retraction for me to change my mind and spend north of £3k a year with them.

They didn't have to do anything though, did they? Why come out with a tweet showing that they thought women were hateful bigots?

If you can’t define “woman” you can’t define “lesbian”. There are some serious issues here.

TerfsUp · 26/09/2018 14:03

I don't feel sorry for Ocado. They have thrown women under a bus AND their CEO is a raging misogynist.

BiologyIsReal · 26/09/2018 14:04

I know I'm a bit of a soft touch - but I feel sorry for Ocado.

I don't. If I were their PR the first thing I would have done was research all the organisations/people involved to get an accurate picture before going off on Twitter with a kneejerk reaction.

Well Ocado, welcome to the world of tosspot Harrop. I'm sure the massive community of TRAs and their followers will fill the gap in your profits left by real women spending thousands and thousands a week with you.

Stupid company with rubbish PR people.

thefatladyscreams · 26/09/2018 14:06

Another cancellation here. And I’ve emailed it to Tim Steiner explaining why and referencing Mumsnet. Customer services said they had received a lot of calls this morning about this.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 26/09/2018 14:07

The tweet has gone, so presumably we're about to get some lovely gaslighting about how the writer didn't mean that.

And probably with a side order of 'tchah, you wimmin are so sensitive.'

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 26/09/2018 14:07

To be honest I wouldn’t expect a proper reply from the customer services!

BiologyMatters · 26/09/2018 14:09

I bloody love this thread. Women, and mums in particular are always, always invisible. Walk all over them, they'll take it. Well just look at what merry hell women can cause when they want to.

Laniakea · 26/09/2018 14:16

I know I'm a bit of a soft touch - but I feel sorry for Ocado

Nope not me - they were screwing women over to score points with men. Same as it ever was.

Laniakea · 26/09/2018 14:18

Either they agree with Dr Shitlord or they just took his word for it cos you know Dr Man must be right.

redshoeblueshoe · 26/09/2018 14:24

For anyone who hasn't seen the banner outside Westminster Magistrates Court this morning it says
Wrong side of history My Arse.
