Ocado boycott after support of Primesight action

On discovering today that Ocado are continuing to use Primesight after they removed Standing For Women's billboard, thereby showing they have no respect for women or our rights, I have emailed them to tell them that I will no longer shop with them as they support misogyny. I'm just wondering how many others have done the same and hoping this thread gets picked up by twitter and/or the press.

Have cancelled ocado, now will start buying birds eye (usually buy supermarket own brands for things like fishfingers and peas).

TimeLady · 26/09/2018 12:10

Accuracy is important - if one part of the complaint isn't factually correct, chances are the whole thing will simply be dismissed, particularly by those who are looking for any excuse to bin it anyway.

Stuffofawesome · 26/09/2018 12:10

I've cancelled too. wankers. Any sign of that statement yet?

Reallylongstory1 · 26/09/2018 12:12

Any news from them yet? I’ve just queried why the statement that a woman is an adult human female does not align with Ocado’s values on live chat as I was about to go online and order today when I read this thread. They said they are passing all feedback onto the relevant team. I’m hoping they reply soon otherwise I’ll need to order with someone else this week which would be a shame as I love their selection

SirVixofVixHall · 26/09/2018 12:13

I use Ocado for pet stuff as they don’t deliver groceries to my area, too remote. Will be boycotting from now on. Vixdog will have to get her rather swish shampoos from another retailer, I think there are many other retailers available, who hopefully don’t feel the need to trample all over their core customers.

My post was intended to conclude circumstances are such that a big billboard was not unnecessary.

Remember lots of people (including those that will read this post if the boycott gains traction) are not familiar with the context will read about the billboard and think it's shouty women stating the obvious and deliberately upsetting poor transexuals with what for them is an uncomfortable truth.

I will boycott Ocado, I am sorry for anyone whose dysphoria was triggered I do not wish you to feel targeted unfortunately you are in the cross fire; we need a word to describe the class of us who produce ova. Women.

Xiaoxiong · 26/09/2018 12:20

I just called and asked if they were going to be making a statement anytime soon, and if not I'd like to cancel my smart pass (of many years standing). Poor chap got all nervous and slightly shaky when I mentioned "this business about the poster" and clearly was reading off a bit of paper saying there was an ongoing meeting about it and that a statement would be made soon. I made it clear that if the statement didn't support women fully and apologise that my smart pass would be cancelled.

I don't want to cancel straight away, as it's possible that whoever runs their twitter feed is just spending too much time in the bubble of the woke twitter-sphere and thought they were being supportive and inclusive. It's how senior management respond now that matters.

Shame the Daily mail won't pick up this thread

SirVixofVixHall · 26/09/2018 12:21

After checking, I think I actually use Waitrose pet. I can’t tell if Ocado fulfill the delivery or not, does anyone know ?

redshoeblueshoe · 26/09/2018 12:22

I don't even use Ocado but I might ring them up just for the fun of it

wiccamum · 26/09/2018 12:22

Had a call back from customer services. No sign of statement as yet, wonder where they will post it? Maybe buried somewhere? Doubt it will make headline news. Why is it our most inane threads get picked up by the Dail Fail, and yet this one won’t..? I wonder 🤔

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/09/2018 12:23

It might get picked up? It has some of the ingredients that the DM like: yummy mummies, a CEO with a chequered past...

sashh · 26/09/2018 12:24

My Ocado shares have lost 36% of their value, that's in a couple of hours. It's odd feeling good about losing money

redshoeblueshoe · 26/09/2018 12:24

Wasn't there a DM journo on AMA ? I'll just have a look

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 12:27

Redshoes, it's tweeted, including @ocado

Someone already has, though not directly to the fail.

Charliethefeminist · 26/09/2018 12:27

Sassh wowza

OhHolyJesus · 26/09/2018 12:27

I literally read this just before our delivery came this morning - last one I guess!

TrumpsToddlerTantrums · 26/09/2018 12:31

Follow up phone call this morning and had them cancel my account immediately. No response to either email as yet. I'd forgotten about their CEO's Xmas party attendance, that just reinforces my actions. I have the choice of Morrisons, Aldi and Iceland locally.

wiccamum · 26/09/2018 12:31

Not a tweeter myself, but had a look at the feed. My absolute favourite response is “good you are looking into this because this billboard company has silenced a women’s rights campaign because it upset a man”

Sums it all up nicely I think.

Shock
Molokonono · 26/09/2018 12:32

Long meeting to work out what they need to say is:

'Of course we value women, we are sorry and will not be associated with this company again. A rogue social media decision was made without knowing the full context and we got caught in the crossfire. Once again, our sincere apologies if any of our customers were affected by this tweet'.

Done.

StayOutOfTheForrest · 26/09/2018 12:33

I've just cancelled. I spend shedloads of money with them. I reckon on average about £150 a week, as well as all the special occasion shopping. Christmas is brought to us by Ocado.

I'm off to Waitrose. I wonder how much Dr Haddock and his husband spends there?
